When installing why do you need analog and digital wire before they work? Installed these with using digital wire only, but they did not work until analog wire was added?
Additionally, digital wire is constant red light, I was told that the digital should be flashing. Should I return them? I do not want them to break in a week or two because of this. Thanks

Make sure the switch on the back is on digital. Should only have to use the optical cable. The one supplied didn't work for me. I had to buy a better quality one.
