Please don't take this the wrong way, just want to trouble shoot.
Do you have the correct wire red for red and black for black?
Has the speaker wire going to the speaker with no sound been compromised? Damaged, split?
If all of the above has been verified then I would say it may be the amp channel, because if no power is being used by the speaker because it is defective it would not send a surge back to the receiver.

We had this exact same problem. What ended up being the issue was the control knob. It wasn’t rated to handle those speakers.
