From my experience, slightly above ear level works best for Sonos Five surrounds. If you need to go higher, try to keep them within about 1–3 feet above seated ear height and angled toward the listening area if possible. Too high can make surround effects feel less natural, but Sonos Trueplay does a surprisingly good job balancing things out. I’d prioritize symmetrical placement over perfect height.
