“Two questions. 1. What is the WIFI range once it's up and running? 2. What do I use to extend said range? Does a simple extender work? I'm not familiar with the mesh environment. What's the best way to extend the range besides mesh?”

WiFi ranges are subjective based on the environment (house size, inside or outside, house constructions materials, other similar signals in the area, etc.). Variety of options. Personally to extend the range on a more permanent basis if you have normal electricity, I'd add a nice router and make it an Access Point (AP) and not operate it as a router.
