- Answer No! Roku is free & a Roku account is completely free. Some streaming apps do require a subscription which costs a monthly fee (i.e.: Netflix, Hulu, Disney+, etc.) but that is handled through the individual apps, NOT by Roku & NOT over the phone. I have heard of this Roku scam, but I have been using Roku for years & there is NO CHARGE.
