yes it will work well. As long as you have no impediments between you and the antennae, it will work well

I also live in a mobile home and I put it in a window standing on the sill at the bottom. This was mostly because it came with no screws to attach the base to it. Never had to adjust or move it anywhere. Reception is very good.

Depending on location of your home from the tv tower depends on what range you will need

I have it in my kitchen/family room laying flat instead of standing and get all the local channels and then some. It took a while to figure out whether to place it high or low. Low actually worked better for me. I get 2-3 of each channel location in clear definition if transmitted in high def. Have not had to adjust it since I got the right location. Ifyour tv is in the interior of the house not near a window, it may not work as well.
