It will automatically determine how much to clean a spot. You can adjust the strength of the automatic to do a deep clean or light clean, but only with a button that does light, regular, and deep. You can’t turn off the mop setting. - I went over the basement and in areas that seemed clean to me this thing tried to deep clean. I came back later and it wanted to deep clean areas that it had not wanted to deep clean before. Not sure what the sensors are doing, or if it saw the different texture/color in the wood floor and thought it needed more cleaning than areas next to it… but it was annoying. It doesn’t leave “streaks” as it leaves the entire mophead space worth of a streak, until it dries. You can see what’s wet and not wet, and probably avoid stepping on the wet spots while pushing it around, of course. But it doesn’t leave streaks that stay as it all dries rapidly and evenly. But it may streak liquid spill that you have to go over many times. I wouldn’t try anything more than liquid, like oatmeal, tho. Wouldn’t work well. I’m getting rid of my unit. Not happy with the small water canister, the amount of time it holds a charge and tries to do deep cleans which uses more charge, and how long it takes to charge. I’d rather clean things up by hand (easier, and not often honestly) and then use a steam type of vacuum/mop where I can control the unit and have heat disinfect rather than unknown chemical.
