I bought one of these units to connect my Samsung TV using wired connection, since my TV was dropping WiFi. This solved my issue completely.

If your smart TV's source signal is connecting via Wi-Fi to your router, but receiving a poor strength/quality of signal at its location in your home, a Wi-Fi extender may help. However, if you are referring to external signal sources (e.g., satellite), a Wi-Fi extender will have no impact on that.
