All i can say is that it does not seem that there is much metal used. This translates into a lighter, more comfortable feeling controller at the cost of it feeling less "secure". Ive dropped it and it gave me anxiety. But, it can also be said that the reduced weight would result in a less damaging fall. All that said, the charging base fits perfectly into a padded velvet lined zip case accommodating the usb C cable through a rubber lined port on the carry case itself. It can even be charged while the case is even zipped shut. This means the only time it might be damaged is when dropped during use.
