Hi Lisa. You could potentially do that, but I wouldn't recommend it. Our sound bars are intended to be 'standalone' audio systems. Connecting it to a receiver may cause the receiver to treat the sound bar as an individual speak, instead of a surround sound set. This could create odd audio quality. We would recommend connecting it to the TV, and bypassing any additional receivers.
