As far as the parent unit is charged you can unplug and take with you anywhere in the house. It depends how far you go outside. It's certain distance you can take it, check your manual.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.The cords are like 5' (did not measure). Works great, all the cords work for all the units so you can switch them around. Only the baby unit needs to stay plugged in, the charges last a long time on the parental units and the batteries are replaceable. I can hear the baby if it makes any noises. You can hear the baby moving around depending on what you are doing and how loud that is. I leave a TV on and put the baby monitor on the other side of him and can hear it all when I need to do chores. Very easy to use and very dependable.
