I use a chromebook for work and i hated most premium overpriced chromebooks, they didnt fit the bill until now! Utiluzing GeForce now ( Essentially a streaming sevice using a 3080/4080) to bring Steam games and others to your chromebook to play at 4K 120fps and utilizing RTX! Its amazing. Ive played AAA titles like assasians creed, wreckfest, world of warships, portal, and many more. All with no heat on the bottom of the laptop, no fan noise, and almost 10hrs of battery life. Its amazing! Id highly recommend it. The IPS 120hz Screen is bright crisp and responsive and the RGB keyboard is wonderful at night.

The Acer Chromebook 516 GE is a game-changer in the realm of cloud gaming laptops. As an avid gamer constantly seeking top-tier performance, I was initially skeptical about the Chromebook's capability. However, Acer has shattered my doubts with this remarkable machine. First and foremost, the 16-inch display with a stunning resolution of 2560x1600 and a refresh rate of 120Hz delivers an immersive gaming experience that rivals high-end gaming laptops. Whether I'm exploring vast open worlds or engaging in fast-paced multiplayer battles, every detail is crisp, and motion is buttery smooth. Under the hood, the Intel Core i5-1240P processor proves to be a powerhouse, effortlessly handling demanding games without breaking a sweat. Combined with 8GB of RAM and a 256GB SSD, loading times are virtually non-existent, and multitasking feels seamless. One of the standout features of the Chromebook 516 GE is its RGB keyboard, which not only adds a touch of flair but also enhances the gaming experience. Customizable lighting options allow me to personalize the keyboard to suit my mood or gaming aesthetic, adding an extra layer of immersion. Despite its impressive performance, the Chromebook 516 GE maintains excellent portability, making it ideal for gamers on the go. The sleek titanium gray design exudes a premium feel, and the build quality inspires confidence in its durability. While the Chromebook 516 GE may run on Chrome OS, its compatibility with cloud gaming services such as Google Stadia and NVIDIA GeForce Now opens up a vast library of games, including AAA titles, without the need for high-end hardware. This versatility makes it a budget-friendly option for gamers looking to dive into the world of cloud gaming. In conclusion, the Acer Chromebook 516 GE is a game-changing device that redefines what is possible with cloud gaming laptops. With its impressive performance, stunning display, and sleek design, it has earned its place as a top contender in the gaming laptop market. Whether you're a casual gamer or a seasoned enthusiast, the Chromebook 516 GE delivers an unparalleled gaming experience that exceeds expectations. Highly recommended.

This laptop is great for entry level and beginner gaming. Nice large screen, beautiful keyboard. One thing to know is that it doesn’t have a lot of ram and the graphics card is lower quality. It also isn’t compatible with Windows gaming.

This laptop is really just a big phone when it comes to the way it treats things. Not to many downloaded games are compatible with it and any downloadable games that are capatible to it will be treated like a mobile phone game. Your cursur will stay locked in a certain range and you will keep having to recenter i. This laptop really isnt for serious gamers. For someone whos just web browibgs or really doung anything on the web its great for things like that. Its nice and fast with good battery. It also good for editing or making presentations

Great laptop. Great processor especially for the $499 price. Acer wants $649 on their website right now. I only have one major issue. It says it has a rj45 2.5 Gigabit ethernet port and they can call it whatever they want but I have 1.2gbps internet and I ran a 12' cat 7 cord to the ethernet port and it's only running at 200Mbpsm maybe 225 tops but the wi-fi 6e works great and I get 800 MBps from 20' away. Other than the ethernet capabilty, it's phenominal especially for the listed sale price of $499

Great everyday work horse! Use google's office apps line up for productivity or run office 365 on this bad boy. As for gaming, you can download steam and run games locally or do what I do and cloud game to your hearts content. Xcloud and Nvidia run extremely well on this. 120hz refresh rate through the Nvidia app and 60hz streaming from Microsoft. Nearly 17 inches of screen real-estate. Just a fun device!

This Chromebook has gotten me through so much! Wether it be the 15+ tabs i work with, traveling week to week and gaming in my hotel room, and much more! The Wifi 6E has surprised me in how it does better in low connectivity areas than my other items and The display at 120hz makes this an even more premium experience than most at an incredible price!

I like this Chromebook so far. Keyboard has a nice feel to it, easy to type. I like the backlit display when the room is dark. Display is good sized at 16". 120hz refresh seems to make smooth difference when scrolling the browser. Refresh rate certainly makes a difference for gaming. This computer does have a touch screen, but I don't need one. I have an iPad if I want that. 16" screen makes it a bit bulkier, but machine doesn't feel very heavy. It would fit in a backpack easily. Case feels solid. Plenty of ports on the sides. This laptop comes with 3 months free GeForce NOW 3080 and Amazon Luna streaming service. Some GeForce NOW games are free with the service, some demo, and some you have to have in your gaming library from partner companies like EA and Battlefield games. The free games are decent but not the latest hot titles like Cyberpunk. You can play Cyberpunk if you buy the game from Steam. The streaming gaming worked well for me. I put the streaming setting up to the maximum resolution and refresh rate of 2560x1600 and 120hz. The animation was smooth even using a 2.4ghz wireless connection (from 100mbps cable), though I could have a dual-band router and could have used a somewhat faster 5ghz connection. I played some Dota 2 and Asphalt Legends 9 using keyboard and mouse, with no noticeable hiccups in the streaming on graphics. Games played in full screen mode in a special window without any borders. You would not be able to tell it was a streaming game if you looked over someone's shoulder and didn't know. Loading time was fast, about a minute or so. In comparison, my usual home gaming rig is a 4.2ghz Windows core i7-7700k with 16MB memory, 1TB m.2 SSD storage, and a GeForce RTX 2070 slightly overclocked video card. Graphics are smooth on my Windows machine too, but in a non-portable big tower case with about 6 fans. The Windows gaming laptops I've seen seem bulky and heavy, so maybe there's something to the future of the streaming game idea on a laptop with less weight, cost, and power needed, though you have to pay for the streaming game service. I was honestly surprised about the streaming quality. The only thing I didn't like so far was a slight high pitch to the laptop fan when playing games. That's high pitch and not high volume, the fan itself is pretty quiet. Most people would probably not even notice it. The high pitch would not be noticeable with sound coming out of the speakers. I may add a laptop cooler fan on the bottom and the internal fan probably won't run as much. The laptop speaker quality was sufficient but not real impressive, not high fidelity. I plugged in my small external speakers using the headphone jack which sounded much better. I'm wondering if I can adjust and improve the speaker EQ with a downloaded Android app. I'll give it a try. Overall, I think this is a nice Chromebook for speedy productivity (work) and also for streaming games. I paid $549, so the extra $200 or so vs. a slower $350 core i3 type Chromebook was worth the $200 extra cost in the long run. I plan to try installing and using Steam on the computer itself at some point. I have not tested the battery life.

This is a great Chromebook. The screen is large with a sharp display. The speakers are better than expected. Blazing fast with the I5. I have owned all the high end chromebooks made by Google and Samsung and this one is a winner at this price.

Enjoy the gaming experience. The only downside is the different app that needs your credentials to get all games downloaded into the different apps. I would like the screen to get user friendly when it comes in scrolling the menu down or up sometimes it appears and other times it doesn’t. Great sound system and is definitely a must for gamers and college students.

I am giving this a 2-star review because a hardware failure is causing screen flicker and random visual artifacts. The Acer 516 GE was purchased on November 23, with an extended January 14 return date. I was busy and did not open the box and set up the Chromebook until January 12, to be sure it was not DOA. About a week later, occasional flickers and various artifacts started occurring on the display. After two weeks, they became worse and more frequent. I updated ChromeOS and Powerwahshed in case if was OS/software related. It's a great machine otherwise, and one lesson here is DO NOT WASTE ANY TIME setting up a new device, in case it has a failure for a simple exchange in-store during the return period! Now I must get an RMA from Acer, and obtain warranty service with shipping and delay. BTW, Acer support has been great so far. I will update after the warranty service is completed.
