THIs is my third router

This is my third router. I have had abysmal luck. "They" tell me that routers only last 2-3 years and mine have made it into their fifth and sixth years. If this keeps up, I will probably have to buy another one before I kick the bucket.

I bought this router/modem combo to work with my ISP. Set up was a breeze compared to my old modem.
Within a few weeks the signal started dropping. All of my devices would see the router broadcasting, then they would see it go away. After troubleshooting tech support said the device needed to be replaced. I took it back to Bestbuy and replaced it for the same kind. Now, a few months later with the new unit I'm having the exact same problem. Do your research, a lot of people have problems with signal with this unit. I would only recommend this unit if you want to get a gift for someone you despise. I can't believe I'm going to be on my third one in less than a year.

Went through 3 modems with my service provider, all had connections issues after a short time of use... took a chance on purchasing my on modem, and to my surprise I have had no issues related to the connection problems after 6 months of continued use.

I purchased this after reading many reviews and the price. I am not very good with installing such things, but found it something I could do without any problems. I have had it now over a month and the performance is average. i have had to restart once when it would not work at all. I had an ATT 2-wire router previously that died. Would I purchase this again? I don't think so

I was excited! Stop paying centurylink a monthly fee, they hold the market for internet in my area.
Anyway, ordered the gt784wn-01 dsl combo and followed the directions I was sent. Seemed easy and I am semi computer savvy. Alas never got an internet connection. Called centurylink 2x . Representatives read the guides well. I called actiontec the overseas rep disconnected me.
I cannot say this product will serve you well. I can absolutely say actiontec customer service failed me. I decided to lease to own the latest modem from centurylink. Bugger!!! They still get more money from me. That said actiontec failed me out of 6 hours of life....which is more important?!?

Connection Drops

I brought this GT784WN-01 5 months ago and so far till today, i have made numerous complaints on the frequent connection drop. the worst part is it is not just the connection drop, u have to manually unplug or reset the modem every time... its very frustrating and there is no pattern on when it drops... there are time when it will drop 15 - 20 times a day...u can imagine the pain involved....
Called customer team and it went to escalation team...received a RMA by spending 11$ in return shipment and guess what the received product is lot more worse, it drops 30 times a day... which sucks... i regret my decision of this brought...DONT EVERY think of buying this product, unless you have all the time in world to keep resetting or talking to customer service team of action tec day and night....

I purchased this modem-router to replace a failed NetZero 2Wire modem. Installation was quick and very easy, but the modem did not work! I made two calls to Actiontec technical support , and they could not identify why the modem was malfunctioning. (One tech representative told me to call my computer manufacturer!) I returned the modem to Best Buy and purchased a Motorola modem-router that was up and running immediately.

Actiontec - N300 Router With Adsl2+ Broadband Dsl

After researching before purchasing that this model was compatible with ISP; Centurylink's DSL I purchased it, however after two calls to Actiontec customer service the tech could not assist me saying that because the dsl light on the router was not solid green that centurylink line was bad, yet my line works just fine with centurylink's equipment. Now I have to return it as Actiontec support says it will not configure with the ISP provider Centurylink in Colorado Springs,CO. BOO!!!!!! Don't waste your time with this one if you use centurylink!

I bought this unit because of all the glowing reviews, I needed a replacement for my AT&T 2Wire that was dying. and since I wanted to upgrade to Wireless "N" this looked like the one I wanted. I WAS WRONG ! ! ! Everything that I have running on this wireless gateway is performing marginally, with periodotic dropouts and a weak signal. Other say they get good performance @ 300 feet through concrete, I'm getting pitiful performance @ 100 feet and standard wood / sheetrock. The only reason I haven't replaced the unit is because I'm waiting for the new Pace Unit from At&T to come out.

There are better options

Had to manually set up for the unit to work on Century Link. First unit died. Replaced and second unit started hanging up after a few months of use (outside the return policy).
I replaced this unit with a netgear DSL wireless and it was easier to set up and so far no problems. So skip this turkey.

Not good w/ Century Link or Sprint Airrave
Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.
Was difficult to set-up. Required talking to Actiontec support who had to call in their own tech support in India. Multiple calls and hours later I was online.
Then learned it is incompatible with Sprint's Airrave product. Lost my local cell service.
Still too busy to work through those tech difficulties, but contacted Century Link about slow speeds on the Internet and had them tell me the GT784WN has been working between 3-7Mbps and won't do any better on their system. Funny the box it came in advertises 300Mbps and incompatibility with ATT.
Ahhhhhhhh!!!!!!

Has router and modem together so it is not compatible if you already have a separate router. Lights on this product were confusing and did not work initially.

The modem description online says ADSL 2/2+. But on the box it just says ADSL. Product number is the same.

This equipment failed after 30 days after many calls to the Techies at Actiontec, trying to understand the probably out of country phone reps. the company finally determined the equipment was defective. So a replacement was sent so far so good but the clencher of this horrible customer service by Actiontec is you the customer has to pay for the return of the defective product. Seems like insult to injury. DONT BUY THIS OR ANY ACTIONTEC EQUIPMENT is my suggestion I know I won't.

Bought one end of Sep. to replace an Actiontec M1000 (Qwest). Installation was not too bad, but did require some custom settings for Centurylink. Modem worked for 6 weeks then started failing with power light issues. Received replacement (shipped UPS ground from CA – 7 days) – I had to pay for the return shipment (>$10). Replacement modem failed again after 2 weeks of use!
Do not buy this product. I replaced it with a DGN2200.

Constantly dropped PPPoE Connection

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.
Modem was easy to setup and worked well for about 1 day. After that the PPPoE/internet connection would not hold even though I had a steady Broadband Connection. It would randomly drop out. It has been 2 days since the last lost connection and it has not come back on yet. I have tried turning it off and on, plugging it out for almost an hour and factory reset. I am returning it to the store today.

Constantly had to reset the router. Range is a joke, won't give consistent signal to a room just 50 feet away, had to install a signal extender. Just completely quit working.
