Despite the confusing UI, and the proprietary apps, this is the best streaming device for the price. I bought it for my in-law, though I own a few Google Chromecasts (1st gen), and replaced them with Nvidia Shield TVs (both 1st and 2nd gen, highly recommend). The benefit with the chromecast is that all you need is a device like a cellphone, computer, or tablet with the Google Home app and set it up with your wifi. Its getting better with the growing number of dedicated apps and sites willing to stream to your TV. The downside, however, is that you will need a device to stream everything. You can't use the chromecast alone. Enter Fire Stick, it has apps it, can stream vids, games, and pictures, and if you have a Fire Tablet, you can stream from there. The apps are proprietary and the only way to get apps specifically designed for the Fire Stick is through Amazon's App Store. I just do not like the UI with all the stock apps geared towards the Amazon products, but that's expected. You can learn tricks to "sideload" Android apps (.apk files) to get more popular apps. Just YouTube that topic. Streaming quality is great at 1080p. I highly reccomend to review your internet plan to ensure that you have enough speed (I have 60mpbs and have no stuttering, buffering what so ever). I also recommend an AC wi-fi router and set the Fire Stick to the 5ghz speed to ensure a dedicated amount of bandwith to stream flawlessly. The closer towards the router the better. In short, you will get the best bang for your frugal wallet. It will do as much as a Shield TV with a few major cutbacks, but like any Android device, there are workarounds. Enjoy it!

Every easy to set up and easy to use. I think this is the best streaming stick when you combine streaming, price and all the apps on this device. It small that I can bring we with me when I travel. I plan on getting another one.

Great picture with simple and fast platform at a good price.

I caught these on sale 2 for $40 and picked up in store where others were paying $40 for 1! So right there, great buy! As a person with older HDTV's (8 y/o or more) that still work perfectly fine, this fire stick has turned them into 'smart TV's' without me having to actually buy one! The options that I am now allowed will also let me rid myself of cable and have instant access to Netflix and other places with thousands of movies. You can talk to the remote AND it interacts with Alexa, which I already have, though I must admit that I don't use either to their full capabilities as I'm not a big Amazon person and since I don't own a home, alot of things Alexa can do, I can't in an apartment! All in all, great buy!

As first-time users of streaming stick, we are pleased with ease of set-up and use of product. LOVE the voice command feature (didn't think we'd use it), ability to monitor data usage, and selection of available apps.

I'm new to the Amazon line of tech. Started with the Stick as I got a good deal on it on Black Friday. It streams at a much better rate than my old Sony Bluray player. The voice activated controller is also easy to use and easy to lose...it's pretty small. I did download the app to my phone and use that as well to control the FireStick.

I am an owner of several streaming devices and this is by far the best I've used and is a bargain price for what it does. Having Alexa access is also nice for those that don't already own an Amazon Echo. The quality and ease of the streams is outstanding, I have already bought for myself and all my friends and family. Absolutely love it.
