I traded in my roku 3 for the amazon fire tv stick. There are many apps supported as well as a dedicated slingplayer app (as opposed to the roku's slingplayer streaming type application that runs off your phone). The device runs android so any of the applications that run on that platform can run on the fire tv stick. So for the simple reasons why to buy...price (it's the cheapest for a fully equipped streaming device), alexa enabled (so you can use voice commands and control your smart home with the app and remote), and my personal favorite is that you can hook up bluetooth headphones for private listening. This used to be the only lure that roku had over the fire stick, but now it's basically a no-brainer to go for this over any other device.

I made the switch from another streaming device and have begun switching all of those in my house to the FireStick. The cost is great and setup is super easy. My biggest reason for changing are the multiple Echo devices we have and the ability to link them in each room to their FireStick and verbally control the devices.

If you are looking for a streaming device that is easy to setup and install, this is the one for you. It does need an external power source, which is a small hurdle, but easy to overcome. The extension HDMI cord is a nice addition and gives extra slack to attach the device to the back of the tv. Great experience so far!!!

I bought this item to stream and use Hulu, Netflix, HBO NOW, etc The interface is very responsive and snappy. As well I love using the Alexa voice remote to navigate through the system. The voice commands you can use in conjunction with the remote are especially helpful in finding useful info or finding and opening apps

I bought this item on sale which only sweetens the deal, but it is everything I could ask for. I can download any app and stream any movie or show I want. I also don't have the burden of storing movies or seasons of shows anymore. I can just find it all at the click of a button. It also runs Netflix faster than my smart TV.

I am greatly satisfied with this purchase because it gives me access to online apps to watch tv and movies I enjoy. Also, came with free trial for Sling tv, which made it easier and much cheaper for me to cut the cable cord. Also, $7 worth of Amazon video came with purchase, along with a free 30 days to CBS all access.

Easy to use, quick setup, no more high cable bill!

I’ve owned 3 Roku 3s that are setup around my house, and this Amazon fire stick makes me want to replace my Roku’s. Amazon fire stick offers great programs and games it is responsive and comes with some great features in a nice little package. The performance on the apps are great. I would recommend this over the Roku.

The Amazon Fire TV Stick is the near perfect accompaniment to a smart or dumb TV. I bought it to get access to apps and networks that my Samsung Smart TV did not have. Now I'd rather use the Fire Stick than the built in apps on my TV. My next television will definitely be a dumb screen that I can plug a Fire Stick into!

Not the best but is good. I have cable downstairs and when the kids are watching something on that tv I just go upstairs to tv with the firestick and watch the games I want. Though you have to have subscription to those channels to watch the games. Sometimes it locks up so I have to remove the control batteries to reset it or unplug it from the tv.
