WOW What a massive difference! I upgraded from a Ryzen 7 3700x and went from 40fps in World of Warcraft to 275 FPS! Runs a little hot but that's expected. This means I did not have to upgrade my Mobo to an AM5 and still game comfortably in CPU heavy games. I was also able to pricematch and brought the price way down to $285!

Great cpu, massive upgrade from my old Ryzen 5! Also price was amazingly fair compared to how the market price has ballooned!

I've been using this for 2 years now, and haven't ran into a single title where I was constrained by the CPU. It's a beast, and will continue being a beast for years. It runs hot though, like 80 degrees in some titles. I have a 360mm arctic freezer liquid cooler, and it works but still gets a bit hot at times. I've never been thermal throttled or anything, and the higher temperature is expected with this 3d chips.

    the best AM4 processor

a very powerful processor. I use this for 4k gaming, video editing, music producing, basically every sort of user task you can think of, and it handles it all fantastically. I keep it liquid cooled, and in case you're worried, these things are meant to hit fairly high temps, even when compared to other CPU's, so don't freak out when it gets around 70+c under load.

This CPU runs HOT. Make sure you have an adequate cooler to keep this thing running cool. I upgraded from a 3800x. Naturally, it wasn't a huge leap, but lots of .1%s improved and things overall became smoother. Paired it eventually with an RTX 3090 and this thing became a beast. Highly recommended for those who are still on the very tip of AM4.

Works perfect for gaming using a 4090!!!

I recently upgraded my R9 5900x for this, and let me start by saying, it holds up well with rtx 4090. I did see a better FPS on all games that are cpu bound. The temps stay relatively normal, 76°C on full load while gaming. I am using and 6 pipe air cooler in my case which also has 7 fans. Air flow is must to dissipate heat. I am using the MSI Mag B550 Tomahawk Max Wifi board. Purchased this board at Best Buy about 9 months ago. I am getting around 280 fps on the most recent COD MW2. Temps stay within the 60's while playing for a couple of hours, so it doesn't get really hot..Only a 1% low on campaign mode and benchmark while the 4090 stays at 99% I see myself with this cpu for at least 3 years. Even CP2077 PL 2.0 I am getting 244 fps max with the update. So there you have it, can it still do a great job at gaming with the 4090? Let's see on an older game like Hitman 3 on high settings i was able to 325 fps. All being played on a 4k 144hz monitor, so if you are not looking to upgrade to AM5, I would most definitely stay with AM4 build and get 5800x3d if your a gamer.

I was running the 5900x with a 6900xt for about a year until i built my cousin a pc with the 5800x3d and 6800xt and he was pushing more frames then me in the same game with same settings. Went up on average about 60fps more if your rig is for gaming in AM4 platform i recommend this chip

For years I was struggling to find a good CPU for MMO gaming and this CPU is the best purchase I have ever made. Games are running better and performing better than any Intel CPU I ever owned. Make sure you have a great cooler though.

I upgraded to the 4090 recently and had a Ryzen 3800x as i thought Id be fine playing at 3440x1440 res with minimal bottlenecking but man… some games like Spider-Man, GTA 5, it would either generate high fps and stutter at the same time like crazy or get the same performance as my 2070 super. The 5800X3D is a great upgrade and fixed all those issues along with increasing my FPS greatly especially on cpu intensive games and runs really smooth now. For $329 thiswas an absolute steal.

Nice Way to Max Out Performance of My AM4 Setup

I went ahead and replaced a 5800X with this 5800X3D. I figured it was a good way to max out the last bit of performance out of my AM4 motherboard/CPU/memory set up. I game at 1440p, so just a small increase in frame rates, but my 1% lows saw a good improvement. Best Buy was able to price match an online competitor for a really good price, so that was an awesome bonus. Plus I was able to sell the 5800X for a decent amount, so for the total net cost, it was totally worth it. I pretty much use my PC as gaming rig, so no video editing or photoshop. So I don’t mind that aspect of lower multi-threaded performance of the 5800X3D. P.S. Do not tweak your motherboard’s Precision Boost Overdrive (PBO) settings, the CPU will not run at the maxed boost overdrive if you do. I simply added 100 MHz to my PBO like I did with the previous CPU, thinking I would increase the PBO from 4.5 to 4.6 GHz. All it did is raise my base clock from 3.4 to 3.5 GHz, and nothing above that.

I did a side-grade from a 5950X to the 5800X3D, since I wasn't using my PC for much other than gaming, and the difference was noticeable. Much smoother and higher frame rate. If you're looking for a solid gaming CPU, and want to stick to the AM4 platform, you need to get this today!

Upgraded from an R5 3600. The improvement in FPS was noticeable immediately - especially with games that are heavy on the CPU. This is pretty much the last stop for the AM4 chipset before updating to AM5. A solid CPU cooler and case with proper cable management/air flow is necessary (more so with this CPU than others).

Loving the CPU it runs everything I need perfectly and the 96mb of cache has made a huge difference in the performance of this chip. It runs more than 10 times better than my old Ryzen 9 3900x and it’s a perfect match for the radeon 6700 XT able to hit anywhere between 144 to 180 Hz at 1080 P and a pretty stable 100 Hz to 144 Hz at 2k. I’ve even seen an increase in performance when running VR games with my oculus rift planning to test on my oculus quest two to see if I can get an increase in performance on it as well. I would really recommend this chip over the non-3-D version. You are giving up a huge percentage of performance if you go for the regular Ryzen 7 5800X.

Purchased for my son, it was on his christmas wish list. His gaming computer is a few years old he has been complaining about all the glitches it has been incurring throughout this year so wifey and I splurged and decided to get it for him, mostly to hope that we stop hearing his complaints. LOL. Well, he was really happy to see it and got to installing it almost immediately. Not having much experience in this, he consulted Youtube and online friends. Got it installed in a couple of hours. It's been a few weeks now and he hasn't complained but has talked about pings, frame rates blah blah blah. Bunch of stuff we don't understand but we know he is very satisfied.

Ryzen 5800X3D! All I can say is...if your still holding off on upgrading to AM5 and sticking with AM4...this is the processor that you want. No lie, I cannot believe the performance boost. I game at 1440p ultra wide max settings on everything and my PC doesn't flinch. So fast, so smooth, gaming, multitasking, EVERYTHING! The best AM4 processor hands down. Highly recommend you make the upgrade you won't regret it!

If you can get this for under $300 do it. If you are on AM4 it is the way to go rather than going to the AM5 platform. If you are building from scratch then go AM5 and 7800X3D (though I recommend waiting for the 8800X3D if that is the case).

Upgraded from a ryzen 5 3600x and instantly saw a jump in frames especially in vr where i would get regular drops. Also added a cooler master hyper 212 cpu cooler when changing the cpu and the temps stay cool under load.

Every video game I've thrown at this thing it's crushed, and it has done great in video editing. For the price, if you're on AM4 it's a no brainer to upgrade to this unless you're moving to AM5.
