Best computer ever
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.i always owned a windows computer until i bought an iPhone then an iPad mini and now i bought a mac and this is THE BEST computer i have ever used, seriously. It is extremely easy to get used to and navigate. I am extremely pleased with my purchase. The battery lasts me all day long and it rarely gets warm underneath like my other computers do. It is also extremely silent and i absolutely love that i always hated hearing my computers fan so annoying. I also love how I'm able to iMessage on my Mac too. Everyone should have a mac! :)

Love it
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.coming from windows, where I grew tired of cheap plastic machines and bloatware, the macbook pro was refreshing. Although I do have lots of windows laptops at home and for work, it seemed like time for change. I was tired of the general plastic'ness of my laptops. Even the thinkpad T440 or 450 doesn't have the same quality as my thinkpad 770 from the 1990s. Having an iPod, iPad, and iPhone--the first two were gifts--I appreciated the quality of the Apple products; the texture, solid feel, aluminum body, etc. In selecting the macbook pro 13" non-retina, this is a mid 2012 model, I wanted something that was still laptop in design, with ethernet, USB drives, and a CD-ROM. This model gives me the flexibility to upgrade memory and HDD. People I've talked to love the newer macbook models that are thin. Nonetheless, I specifically wanted this older unibody style and I do not regret it. It runs Yosemite as the OS. All is good. I enjoy the fact that it comes with some many useful software tools. On this macbook pro, I installed a tester version of Windows 10 and immediately removed it within 20 minutes. Windows 10 came with nothing, at least in that developer/tester build. So with Macbook pro, I get a good laptop in a new OS that will keep me busy. I like the Unix/NeXt style OS, all of the neat tools, etc. Xcode is fun too, to practice coding. I have run my raspberry pi off this macbook pro headless, but it was not as smooth as when run it from my main windows laptop. I do not care for Safari and have installed Firefox as a backup, but Safari is growing on me just because its there. I do enjoy continuing text message sessions on my macbook pro, that I started on my iPhone. No regrets. The one bug that lingers, is the inability to plug into my Dell external display. Using an aftermarket converter, the Dell screen unexpectedly switches from black to the display and black again over and over. I'll end up getting an authentic Apple converter to see if that fixes the problem, or I might get a validated Apple compatible display altogether. High quality built machine. Next laptop for my wife will be something from the macbook line.

great product- easy to use
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Replaced my i-book with this. Love the screen and the backlit keyboard. It is very fast and light. It has a very long battery life. The only drawback I've found is that the battery charger insert is on the same side as the USB ports, and the cords are awkward together. Glad I stuck with a mac!

Windows 10 killer
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this out of frustration with Microsoft than anything else. The windows 10 disaster, and their new male-ware style tactics to try to trick you into using their products made me look for an alternative. So far, so good. Initial setup was a breeze, and this thing is fast even with the 5400 rpm drive and only 4GB of memory. Time will tell if it will do everything I want, but so far I'm very impressed.

An excellent choice if moving from Windows to Mac
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This machine is better than MacBook Air due to its storage and other features such as, it accepts a memory card, it has a CD ROM, the RAM is upgradable, it has a place to input an ethernet cord, and many more features. It is better design and machine than the new MacBook Pro Retina and MacBook Air. If you are photographer, student, or someone who wants the best bang for their buck. I would suggest to buy this machine.

Went for the old and upgraded past the new.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought the mid-2012 Mac-Pro instead of the new retina version because of the ability to upgrade the RAM to Crucial 16GB total as well as swapping out the 500GB HDD for a 1TB SSD. I don't use my laptop outside so the screen resolution is fine for me in the house. Super fast and reliable...what you can always expect from an Apple product.

Best laptop around!!!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've always owned a MacBook since Apple launched the aluminum unibody design. I'm not an Apple fanboy (I have owned windows laptops and chrome books) and I can honestly say that Apple does make the best laptops. My last MacBook pro was from 2009 and still works like I just took it out of the box. It was just time to upgrade. I know windows has some great laptops but in all honestly Apple products just last longer. MacBooks are a better bang for your buck in the long term. Get one and you won't regret it.

great
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Only macbook with CD drive. Love it. Nice, sleek, and easy to use if you've had a mac before. Pretty to look at also. A bit heavier then I expected but not a big deal. Overall very happy about purchase. Also, got free office word download from Microsoft outlook with my student email so didn't need to buy the software, which was a plus.

Excellent product, perfect size
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is our second MacBook Pro. It's the perfect balance between something that is too small to see or type on easily, and a big, heavy full-size laptop. Light, sleek, and high performance. And we were in and out of the store within 10 minutes because we knew what we wanted and the sales person knew how to get it for us!

Great Computer for the price
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This MacBook was purchased for my daughter, who is a high school senior. We wanted a computer that could grow with her and be something she could ultimately use in college. It is powerful, compact and the build quality, like most things Apple, is impressive. It has adequate storage, although it could use a bit more RAM. Fortunately, this particular system is easy to upgrade, unlike the MacBook Air, which we considered as well. I highly recommend this system.

My First Mac
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I Love My MacBook Pro, It has everthing I need as well as resonsive, productive and effecient. The design cannot be topped, is really thin and smooth and the apple logo that lights up on the lid during usuage is really awesome. With boot campthats preinstalled, installing windows is a huge plus furthermore using a virtual machine such as paralles 8 or VMware 5 allows you to dual boot as use both operating systems simultaneously. No need to create a recovery dvd set, This Macbook has a partion that is for the sole purpose of recovering your laptop; you can easily erase your hard drive and reinstall osx whenever you need to. Battery life on this thing is amazing, I could go almost 5 hours using a powerful programs such as photoshop before needed to attach the wall adapter; an extension cable is included. The display is 1280 x 800, which is good enough for me but contrasted to the retina display macbook pro, the difference is gap is huge. The macbook pro with retina display has amazing graphics and cant be competed with though its $500 difference as well as 128gb hard drive and no superdrive; Which is why this Macbook Pro won me over.

Great device.;
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a good looking device with great functionality. The price is a bit steep, but depending on the durability it is probably a very good buy. It is light weight and fast. It holds a charge for an acceptable length of time and is convenient. Apple needs to figure out a way to include the dvd player in the device itself.

good one
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought a Macbook Pro because of Windows 8 as well as the low quality of hardware that comprises most laptop PCs. This machine replaced a Windows 7 laptop that suffered major hardware failure after only 23 months of gentle use. Fortunately I had a full replacement warranty on this unit. Windows 8 is virtually unusable for my purposes, as are tablet computers. I need a full laptop with a real keyboard, built-in CD/DVD ROM reader/writer, USB ports, an OS that supports my applications, etc. After seeing how virtually every laptop PC was loaded with Windows 8, and was very cheaply built, I was thoroughly disgusted and considered other options. Most Mac laptops I have seen have been in service for a number of years and are still running strong. That, and the features of the new Macbooks, convinced me to pay the extra money and go with an Apple. I also use LINUX, and by using VirtualBox or Parallels software, I can run LINUX in a virtual machine within the Mac OS. This has proven to be the best of both worlds. it should also be mentioned that if one needs Windows 7 for certain tasks, Windows 7 can be run in a virtual machine using Parallels, just as was done with LINUX. By going with an Apple Macbook and using virtual machines for certain applications not normally supported in Mac OS, I have avoided the pitfalls of a regular laptop PC. Pros: The machine is light in weight, thin, yet feels solid when you handle it. The keyboard has a very good tactile feel; the keys don't make that cheap plastic "scrunch" that many PCs do. Visually, the machine has a very neat, clean appearance and features a beautiful, bright, sharp display. I like the fact the keyboard keys light up so they can be seen int he dark.

Amazing Computer
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I love my new Macbook pro. I was using a windows computer and have always wanted a Mac, I finally got one for Christmas and I LOVE it. It takes some time to get used to because it is so different from Windows, but I caught on quickly. It is very light-weight, so its easy to take places, this computer is very quick, has a great display, and coming from a computer that would die within an hour of being fully charged, that battery in this Mac is GREAT!!! it will last for over 7 hours. The only thing I didn't like but got over quickly was the fact that you have to have a special version of Microsoft Word.

It's a Mac, it's gonna be good.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Purchased during the black friday sale after using Windows 8 and 10 I knew the Windows platform no longer worked for me, it was laid out in a unclean and messy way and unless you have a touch screen you can not really use all of the features. Coming from Windows to Mac has been an easy adjustment and I love having this computer. It's a fast upbeat, little to no lag on any of the programs I use. I see no difference in having a non Retina screen, I needed the cd drive for work since I'm a traveling nurse. I can understand if one worked with photos or any design would want the Retina but for me the most I look at are X-rays or CT scans and those come on discs and I need the drive more than a pretty screen. I can definitely say I do not see this older model being any worse than the current models and I think they should keep it up for those few of us who need the CD drive on the go instead of having to use an external drive. I would recommend purchasing again and again.

Solid
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The computer has been everything we've expected. Fast, reliable, and easy to use. The only issue keeping it from 5 stars is the fact that sleep mode is fairly slow to wake up. That could be a software issue, though.

Fantastic Laptop
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is my second Mac laptop after my '07 Macbook pro went kaput. I was worried this screen might be too small by comparison as I was used to 15 inches, but it's perfect. It's fast, it's gorgeous and it still has a CD/DVD driver unlike the Macbook Air. Quick, easy setup, vibrant display. I would recommend this to anyone and everyone.
