    Good entry/mid level laptop

I've had this laptop for a little over 2 weeks now. I'm still adapting to Windows 10 since I'm normally a 7 user. All in all, you get what you pay for with this laptop. Don't expect it to run newer games anywhere near 60fps, but with some BIOS tweaks and some minor tweaks in the graphics/power/startup options, you can have a decent time playing some of your favorite games while away from your desktop rig. The laptop will have plenty of power for the majority of people buying it. My only 2 gripes with this laptop is that ASUS designed this laptop with no RAM expansion hatch (the entire laptop has to be disassembled in order to access it), and I had to remove about 20 bloat-ware programs that did nothing but slow the computer down. Seriously, step #1 should be to completely uninstall McAfee and download something proven, like Avast! for your anti-virus/firewall needs.

    Good value priced computer

First, this laptop does come with Bluetooth even though the specs shows it does not. That was almost a deciding factor, so I figured I'd put it out there in the forefront. I needed an economical laptop because the system I had was acting as if it would die at any moment, but I needed to keep the cost low. After reviewing the specs and reviews and factoring in the cost ($299 at the time), I settled on this system. This is not a state of the art computer and should not be rated as such. However, unless you're into major gaming or heavy graphic design, this computer will do the job. It isn't going to be as fast as an i7, but it also doesn't come with that price either. It's every bit as fast as the 2.2ghz Pentium Duel Core that I did have & comes with a few extras to boot. The biggest issue was getting used to Window 10 (which I had been avoiding for a long time). However, the operating system should not impact the hardware review like many other reviews do. That's more of a personal preference. I read reviews that said it was plasticy feeling or that the keyboard wasn't the best. Yes, it feels like plastic - it probably is! Plastic is light and along with the built in battery, this computer is very light. It probably isn't durable enough to be carried around in a backpack by the average college student. But dorm room or home use should be fine. I have no issue with the keyboard and I actually prefer the pointer over some others I've seen in new models. No issue with the space bar at all. Screen doesn't flicker either. It is a different type of screen than my old laptop, so it seems a lot brighter and the blacks are not as true black as before. I am a big multi-tasker and use Chrome, Adobe CS6, Quickbooks and MS Office regularly and everything runs smoothly. I didn't give it 5 stars, well because it's a $300 computer! Even with nothing wrong, it doesn't deserve 5 stars. Overall, the computer was easy to set up and functions well.

    Outstanding laptop for basic needs.

This laptop is such a great deal for someone who doesn't need any advanced processing capabilities. I use this computer for accessing the web and Microsoft Office Suite and it's quick and snappy. I constantly have multiple web browsing tabs open with no slow down. Overall, the build quality is great, speakers are definitely above average, and the screen at 15.6 inches is right on the money. If you are looking for an everyday laptop for basic computing needs, this is it. *On a side note. The Ram in this laptop is also upgradeable from 4GB to 8GB. I plan to do this in the next few months to increase multitasking capabilities and give it a speed boost.

A good lower-cost computer, could be faster

I recently purchased the Asus 15634 Laptop, and it seems to be a decent laptop, with very low weight, which it's quite nice looking. The chiclet keyboard make typing easier than my prior laptop (with the cheapo keyboard), at least to me. Windows 10 is nice and functional, albeit it seems that this computer is rather "slow" compared to my old laptop, especially when starting up. I'll be spending more time with the thing to see if it's bloatware, or (hopefully not) just lesser-quality hardware. Four stars for now, but with more use I will be updating my review accordingly.

I see some poor reviews but so far, great on my purchase. This computer is fast, responsive and great looking. I love everything about it. I read reviews online about it and at Amazon. It had hundreds of top reviews so the people here must have just got lemons. I simply love it and for the money . . . you can't go wrong.

I recently bought and love my notebook. I wasn't looking for something extraordinary but something for my basic needs! I surf the web and do a little of word on here. I had an HP previously lasted me 7 yrs. The HP guy that helped me pick this one could've easily sold me an expensive HP. But he was honest and said go for this one if what you told me is all that you need it for!! Sure enough Im happy!!!

it is an i3 and should be super fast, the screen looks fine (I use it indoors). The bad, they used cheap, older components. The motherboard has vga out (which is a plus for me to connect my old monitor) but. it's an older motherboard Older wireless card (2.4ghz) There's not enough usb ports (I need to use a hub) I hate the clicky trackpad, makes my wrist/fingers hurt (I got a mouse, not enough usb ports) For all the people that want to install an ssd and more ram, just buy a better computer. For people like me that want a cheap laptop with an i3 for the price of a chomebook, this is very nice

I purchased this for a friend who has tons of CD's and is worried he will lose his music over time if they get scratched or damaged. So,he started with this i3 Core, with 1 TB hard drive and we have a perfect match! Now his music is stored on the PC (didn't even put a dent in the TB!! and just like that the music is stored on his cloud account. This PC works great and has a nice style classy look to it! I recommend this PC!

    Pleasantly surprised

This was a gift for my brother for helping me with some work on my house. I was a little leery after reading some of these reviews, but figured since he was still using an XP machine from the stone age, it would have to be a step up, especially since it had an I3 in it. After opening up the box and getting it ready to give to him (removing bloatware - McAfee, etc. - of which there really wasn't a lot to get rid of, surprisingly) I found this to be a zippy, capable laptop. Connected to my wifi instantly and stayed connected, downloaded and installed programs like Avast quickly, and navigation of the system was also fluid. Snappy browsing as well. If someone had given it to me to try out first, and then told me it was a $250 (on sale) laptop, I wouldn't have believed it. So, not sure what other variables might have been involved in the poor experiences others have had, but I wouldn't bat an eye purchasing it again.

Just got this last Saturday. The laptop looks sleek with its silver color and its also very light. But when I watched some shows from CBS or FOX, for example, it kept freezing...the sound quality was poor and it was just really slow. I compared it to our other laptop, a Toshiba AMD A6 which we bought 3 years ago and it was faster. I also have a MacBook Pro from 2010 and the picture quality and speed were still better than this new Asus. I actually trust the ASUS brand a lot, which is why I got this (plus it was on sale). Unfortunately, I was just not satisfied with it so I am returning it today.

I have brought laptop from bestbuy in past and have been satisfied with them. I've always purchase Asus. The one I originally wanted was on sale for $199. Store was out but had this one in stock. It was $299 . I like it cause it has 1tb hard drive. I was willing to pay a few more dollars for more space.

I am quite satisfied with my new Asus computer. I did have an issue with the first one in the first couple of days, it would not power up. Best Buy replaced it and I have had no issue with the new one at all. I have been able to get 6 plus hours of battery usage on a full charge. This includes moderate web surfing and note taking.

My previous computer was windows 7 and going to windows 10 was not as bad as I thought. The only drawback I found out after I bought it was the battery is sealed inside the computer. Lets hope the battery last a long time.

This is by far the most useless laptop I've ever bought. I already have a work laptop and bought this one to watch tv at home or do basic shopping. Still worthless. its been to the service center twice in the last 6 months for 15-20 days each with motherboard issues (replaced each time) . Bestbuy policy has made it difficult for me to work with this piece of garbage. Cant even get a replacement or store credit. Please do not buy. They try to fix it at their local service center, but havent been sucessfull in remyding the situation. The ASUS service center charges you shipping, which ranges anywhere between 20-40$ depending on the amount of insurance you need for the laptop. Not worth the hassle.

I purchased this computer when it first came out and returned it because it would not respond when opening applications. I then purchased a Lanova but that seemed worse. By the time I re-purchased the same Asus, all the bugs were worked out and it has been a great buy so far. I bought the Geek Squad Protection just in case it does some strange stuff for me down the line. I suggest you do the same. I think I may buy another one for my mother for her 60th birthday in July.
