Amazing value for sale price

Purchased very cheap during a one-day sale. For that price it's an incredible value. The screen is fantastic and the battery lasts forever. One click to install the Linux environment and off you go. You can "apt install" pretty much anything in the Ubuntu repos or download a .deb file and click to install. Very slick. Android apps work well, too.
32GB is a little tight but for the price I'm not going to complain. I have a 256GB microsd card for files but I don't think you can install applications there.
I'm not sure I'd pay full retail, but a great deal when it's on sale. Another plus: The OS is supported by Google until 2029, so it will get updates for seven more years.
This is my first Chromebook so I have nothing to compare it to, but performance seems good.

My existing Chromebooks will not be updated after 3 months (June), so was looking for a suitable replacement. This was on sale and perfect in every way! It's well build and performs great with a sharp 17.3 inch FHD screen and 32gb.. I have had Asus laptops for years and never a problem. Sale price of $199 for all this was the right deal at the right time. Happy with purchase!

First time I've used a Chromebook.
I'm in my 40s, and need something more powerful than a Chromebook, but this is perfect for my mom in her 70s. She watches korean drama, does zoom calls, clips coupons, checks emails and listens to music. The screen at 17 inches is bigger than a tablet, and it has all the functionalities she needs.
If she wants to do a little more, she can also use google docs, play games.
She used to have a dell laptop previously, but likes this one better. It's simple, and easier to navigate. It is less heavy, as far as applications goes, and this is great for my older mom who doesn't really need all the extra bells and whistles.

Brought this 17 inch Chromebook for my self, guess what? I used every for last couple years, so far no problem at all, this computer may just need added more ram and memory from factory then will be even better.

Very fast, very easy to navigate. Battery lasts a long time. The screen is big and bright. Only thing I feel I am lacking is a backlit keyboard, but aside from that, this laptop does everything I need it to do.

I waited a year to write this review because of a family problem, but also to see how the Chromebook worked. Simply put: It is great. One of the best purchases that I have made in years. I use it mostly for emails and to watch documentaries and lectures, YouTube. Never gaming. Use it daily. Had a couple of small glitches where it restarted while I was watching it (3 +/- times), but otherwise it has been spot on. The screen picture is rewarding with it being large, clear and vivid colors. Seldom see the spinning wheel. Getting used to Chrome has generally gone well. This model does not work with my old printer; a few apps have not worked, but that could be of my doing. The print can seem small at times. Overall: stellar, great purchase. Plus, I like Best Buy. Trustworthy, and they have real people working there!! Be sure to check the AUE date. My is 6/30.

This is my go to chromebook for everyday use. I like a big screen and this one serves my purpose well. It allows me to open many tabs without degradation in performance. I recommend this chromebook. This may be a great chromebook for students.

Very nice, large IPS screen for watching videos or movies. However, the TV does stutter occasionally while opening some apps. The processor is good but not an Intel i-series, so slowness is expected. Also, the 4 GB ram is too minimal in today's world, especially if you cannot upgrade it.

This is my second Chromebook from ASUS and it has improved my lifestyle in many ways.
The removable microSD makes for storage that can be separated from the laptop if there is a need.
The battery drain is negligible so I use for long offline sessions with small Linux command line navigation.
Installing too much laptop functionality is not recommended to save limited memory.
The Android app feature makes it like having a 17.3 inch cell phone screen. Again avoid overly installing apps seldom used or are large.
I found a sleeve bag elsewhere as Best Buy only goes to 15 inch and this is a unique size for a Chromebook.

The large screen size is very nice and the screen is good quality, however, you pay for it with the weight. It is fairly heavy carrying it around and you need a large laptop bag to fit it in. Another oddity is that some of the apps run in either phone or tablet mode, I guess because the screen size is too big for a native app? Battery lasted me about 10-11 hours with light usage, and I wonder if large form factor allows for a larger battery? Overall, the Chromebook runs fairly well, not too slow but also not blazing fast. I was able to get it for a good price Open Box so that for me makes this Chromebook a decent value.

A capable 4K/60hz gaming laptop using Stadia Pro

This Chromebook is amazing! It can can output to a 4K display @ 60hz perfectly using a Dockteck USB-C hub for $30.
Stadia Pro games will run at @ 4K/60hz as well when hooked up to a 4K display using HDMI 2.0 cable (also recommend using Ethernet port on USB-C adapter for Internet)
Pair an XBox 360/One controller and you’ve got one amazing gaming laptop for $199 or less!
NVidia GeForce Now and Xbox GamePass also runs really well on this Chromebook… just make sure you have a fast Internet connection.
Other amazing things that will run is Blender 3.x using Linux… easy to install and great for low-poly modeling. Don’t push it too hard… remember, it’s a Chromebook after all.
The 1080p screen is bright and clear and the anti-glare semi-glossy screen is very good… it’s like a matte but glossy screen at the same time and it looks reflective, but you cannot see your own reflection which is really interesting!
Battery seems to last forever under normal use… uses passive cooling so there’s no loud fan and does not heat up like crazy.
Overall laptop build is good— my only criticism is the thick bezel on the bottom part of the screen.
Speakers on this are great for this price point— sounds really good actually! I was pleasantly surprised it had bass!
I was very happy with this purchase and at $179 it’s an amazing value!

Asus 17.3 N4500 review
Was it really impulsive to get a new laptop when I had a 2013 macbook air?
It was useful for facetime and youtube but now I have a tv, i rather use my tv but I did say I wanted to become more of a minimalist. So it would be useful but not as noisy or making the room seem busy with noise. So then why did I get a laptop? A desktop seemed unnecessary and i just needed something to pass my ged plus give my desk somewhat of a use since my ps4 won't work online anymore so i might sell that again but not sure, i enjoy gaming especially ones with stories but i got into gaming because i enjoy talking to friends and playing with them, recently i've been playing only online games.
Keys were sometimes stuck when typing so i wouldn't type as much on the macbook to journal
I like typing on a big screen. The keyboard isn't as bad and seems more clicky.
The look of the laptop looks clean and professional.
Overall it's an easy laptop to use for school, and for my personal use for what I need it for, also seems easy to set up and again easy use for daily tasks, the bigger keyboard gives my hands more room to type and not mess up as much.
Did I need to replace my 2013 macbook air? No battery was fine, it was just a bit slow and scuffed up (hinge and screws on the back) and also animals messing with it but it was durable because of the aluminum build, the asus is plastic but its a cheaper laptop so you get what you pay for. Overall, I don't regret it but I will miss the facetime feature with my old macbook and i only wanted it because everyone had a macbook but Chromebooks are just fine for what i do with my laptop day to day. I wanted to get a new laptop for a while now but didnt wanna break the bank.
Can't wait to edit with this laptop and play with it a bit more.

If you are looking for a Cheap 17 inch laptop with good display then this is perfect for you. The value that you get from this laptop especially when it is on sale is tremendous. It has a good display, keyboard and is very responsive and has a great battery life. But it is quite heavy and has a maximum screen rotation of 180 degree.
