great
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.easy to set up, took seconds to plug in and configure for basic use. It is a little bulky/ugly but for a router what do you expect. Its kind of big, so definitely not something you have sitting on your desk. Works well for techy family. We currently have the following connected with no issue: 10 smart switches 8 smart outlets 4 Alexa devices 4 Smart TVs 5 laptops 1 desktop 1 xBox one 1 Nintendo Wii 5 tablets 5 smart phones 2 smart watches 4 security cameras Abode alarm system Ring Doorbell

Very Capable Router
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This router was purchased to improve online streaming and the overall WiFi coverage in our house. There were several dead spots in our house. This router did an excellent job of addressing that issue. Online streaming of video content has also noticeably improved. Overall, I’m very happy with this router. The main issue with the router is that getting the settings right for best performance is not easy. What effect all the various options have is not clearly described in the documentation and some trial and error is needed. The placement of the USB 3.0 port in the front is unfortunate. It forces you to clutter up the front if you want to take advantage of the faster port. The other issue I have is the stability of the WiFi connection to my Galaxy 5 is not stable. I’m not sure why, but it keeps dropping. No other device has this issue. Overall, this is a very good router with excellent range. It should be a good addition to any household.

Great consumer router
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Overall a great router! Before I purchased this router I owned the Asus RT-AC 68U. Let me first say the 68U router is also great. For being 3 years old that router still can hold its ground. Asus has done an amazing job of upgrading the firmware and adding new features. Now this router the AC-3100 is amazing. I have it placed in the center of the house and I have full Wi-Fi coverage anywhere in the house. My 2015 Mac book pro connects to it at 1300 mbps to 600mbps depending on your location in the house. Essentially all my other devices connect at their best possible speed depending on your location in the house. At any given time I have over 15 to 20 devices connected to the router. I have them split between wired cat6, my AC devices on the 5Ghz band and older and slower devices that don't need a fast connection on 2.4Ghz band. The coolest thing about this router is that LAN ports 1-2 can be combined using Link Aggregation giving you a 2 Gbps wired connection to a device. This works great if you have a NAS or a home server that supports it. I currently have mine connected to my home NAS. This works great when you have multiple clients accessing the NAS at the same time. Another great feature is the overall firmware, which I think is phenomenal. I currently have the AI protection enabled and the VPN server active and it still does not miss a beat compared to my 68U, which slowed down my LAN to WAN speed. My home Internet connection speed is 300 down/20 up. With this router for some reason I get speeds tests about 350mbps down/ 25 mbps up. Even on my iPhone 6s plus I get speeds tests that fast. Overall I could not be happier with this router. Now your mileage may vary depending on your own networking environment not everyone’s network is the same! On another note there is another model that is almost the same as this one but it has 8 LAN ports in the back vs. the 4 that this one has. I think its Called the Asus RT-AC88U.

Fixed our wifi issues
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. While the price was a little higher than we had wanted to spent on a new router, we took the plunge and went for the extras that this offered over some of the others in the $200-275 price range. We desperately needed upgrade and have since had no issues and are very happy with it.

Improved Signal Strength and Stable speeds
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have tried several routers in the last two years, including Linksys, Belkin, D-Link, and have had some decent experience with some of them, but this Asus router is the best one that I have used thus far. The router software interface is simple and easy. The router itself is fast. The connection distance/range is the largest of the routers that I have tried and download speeds stayed the most consistent as I roam throughout the house. A small, but really appreciable feature that is included is the ability to turn off the LED lights on the unit itself. Great consideration was put into making this router and the result is an incredibly solid product.

The Best
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have had several routers over the last 25 years and this one is by far the best. No slow downs, hangups or freezing. It covers the entire house and outside to the front or back yard. It is pricier than other routers, but for dependability and quality it is worth the cost.

Great product IF
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Amazing range and lots of geek features. However, the first go around, the 5Ghz dropped, to be never seen again, after performing firmware update. Returned for same product, and this far, great coverage throughout all 2600 square feet of the house.

Really Nice Router
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this along with a new modem to take advantage of the speed increase I received from Time Warner for my ultimate internet account. Needless to say this router will not disappoint! Setup was simple and I had it up and running in about 15 minutes carrying over all of my network password settings from my old router. There is a noticeable speed increase compared to my old Belkin AC1900 router. Wireless speeds are incredible. I have had zero issues on any of my connected equipment unlike before where I would on occasion have to re-boot the router after having my internet connection slow or stop working completely. I have also noticed that my wireless range has increased to the point that I receive full reception in any location inside my two story home as well as outdoors on the porch, deck, and garage. I even have wireless reception in my outdoor shop over 100 feet away from my house! Some may consider this router expensive but I assure you it is worth every penny!!!

decent router
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This router is a monster, but I do find that it does fall off-line daily and I have to re boot. This is a little annoying. Its signal does a great job, I have a decent sized two story (2500 sq ft) and my xbox one is upstairs and it has no problem picking up a signal.

Unlocks your ISP advertised speed
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Fantastic router that makes your ISP provided router seem like trash. I live in a 4 story condo with the router placed on the 2nd floor. The regular wifi reaches everywhere including my rooftop but the 5G starts to fall off at that spot. I have 200 mbps with spectrum and its 100x better than the router that they give me. I have my desktop hooked up to ethernet and play League at the moment. My ping is 64ms flat. No rubberbanding. So basically if I suck, I can't blame lag because it's non existent.

Great range, no problems with 4K steaming
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great router so far. Very easy set up, very fast 4k steaming using 5g. I live in a raised ranch with >3000 sq ft. Reaches every corner of the house! It is a pricey though!

Excellent Range and Stability
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Went from a tri-band Linksys 3200 router to this Asus dual band router in hopes of getting longer range to a distant bedroom. Signal strength has improved greatly and have not experienced any dropouts or lost connections for over a month since install. Both 2.4 and 5 GHz bands are stable and fast. The router web interface is excellent as is the Android app. Not as large as I imagined from the photos, just a bit of a wing span when antennas positioned properly. Very satisfied with this router and dual band is more than enough for the 15 devices on network. Highly recommended.

Nice Upgrade-Beast Mode
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Got this beast of a router to replace my AirPort Extreme 802.11n (5th Generation). So far, I have close-to-zero complaints. I am consistently getting better speeds, better connectivity distance, better reliability (especially during HD and UHD streaming to my basement), and the new router is very capable in terms of handling as many devices as I've thrown at it simultaneously (most was 8; 5 streaming devices while other 3 devices were just web surfing). I am also a big fan of the web UI, which allows you to set up VPN across the network and a slew of other modifiable network settings and configs. Only small complaint is the 10,000 small blinking lights on the front/top of router. This is sitting open on a desk in my center, master bedroom and every night I have to put a little Ringwraith figure over the set of lights to block them out. Otherwise, they illuminate the room enough to disturb sleep. Ultimately, this is an issue with all modems/routers I have bought and/or considered over the years. All in all, definitely recommend and approve of this router.

Great WiFi coverage and handles multi devices
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I want to split the review into the following 2 points: 1. general wifi use like streaming 2. gaming aspect of the router. 1. This is an excellent router with great coverage and can handle multiple devices. We have no issues with working from home, zoom calls, streaming. Most of the time we are doing all of these at the same time. there are multiple laptops, phones, speakers, tvs all connected and no issue. Note i dont have the highest bandwidth with my ISP. Lastly the user interface/app based management is great and easy to use. you can prioritize working from home, streaming, create a custom list, all with a few clicks. 2. Gaming: This is where i have a bit of an issue because i bought the router with the intention of what is marketed, the 2 step gaming priority thing with WT-Fast. First, my gaming experience has been improved by this router. Placing it gaming mode is easy and fast. it improved my lag/ping time and mostly is completely stabilized lag/ping. very few to no instances of lagging/skipping or Ping Spikes. Second, this is marketed with a WT-Fast 2 step gaming experience thing.. This is total crap. Why?? this router is not currently supported by WT-Fast (check their Site) so there is no free account to setup no 2 step gaming improvement. WT-Fast site notes (Fine print) the ASUS routers that it does support, this is not one of them. but it also notes that is "could" support it int he future. Yeah ok....... If gaming is your primary reason for the purchase, spend the extra $50/$100 for the model WT-FAst does support.. it kinda looks like a crown with antennas setup all around it. so great router but a bit misleading.. so it gets a good rating.

VERY good router for home use
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this router with the intention of a) getting away from twc's "best available" combo unit (also purchased a modem to accompany new router), and b) increasing range of coverage to throughout the whole house (new home construction, wireless was the preferred method of connecting, one office in the basement, the other office on the second floor, modem and router are on 1st floor, for the time being). Well, once this router was hooked up, 2.4 + 5Ghz channels both configured, the range expanded exponentially, it seemed! 5Ghz has it's limitations inherent of its channel, regarding distance, etc., but the 2.4 channel is fully available everywhere on my tiny quarter-acre lot, and then some. I know I haven't much commented on the advanced features much, and in honesty I haven't done much more than tinker with them. This modem may be a bit of overkill for what it's actually used for (for now) in my home, but I have a feeling I will likely make good use of the limitations/restrictions that can be enacted, once my son reaches age 10 or above and wants the wifi password. Long story long, if you're looking for something to provide strong wifi connections throughout many stories and rooms of a larger home, then this router would be a really excellent choice (but not your only choice, however!) and would likely not disappoint an average user at all. P.S. In my experience so far with this unit, the price tag of the unit has been justified, not only because of rock-solid signal strength EVERYWHERE in my house, but also the fact that for an average wifi user, this modem seems to be fairly future-proof (resistant, anyways)... Hope this ramble helped!

Great Product
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. After upgrading to this from an inexpensive netgear I am loving this one. It has been reliable and I am getting the signal broadcasted where I was having issues before. It is expensive but I was able to use some of my rewards to lower the price. Make sure you have room for this beast as it is quite large. The antennas alone stick up about 4-5 inches in the back. I had to adjust some of my shelves in my entertainment center to make this fit but once I did this thing blended in really well and the design is really sleek and nice.

Faaasssst!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I first purchased the AC 3100 to add to my Comcast modem/router combo and my speed and stability increased substantially. Setup was a breeze and I haven't had any hiccups so far. I have since purchased and paired it with a SB 6190 modem and all I can say is blink of an eye fast. Also, my video games appear to look somewhat more 3 dimensional and smoother. Lastly, I highly recommend this router because whether I play games wirelessly or via the AC 3100's Ethernet port, there is virtually no difference in speed nor does it lag! Amazing router!
