Works as advertised. Love this router.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had a combo modem/wireless router through Time Warner. Never worked right and never got the speeds wirelessly I paid for. When I called Time Warner they suggested it was because we had too many devices at home that need wireless access and that was the cause of devices getting kicked off of network and slow speeds. Frankly, we do not have any more or less devices than the average household - Xbox One, few smartphones, few tablets and four smart TVs. Read about this router on a blog; thought I would give it a try. This thing is a dream. Now I'm getting the speeds I'm paying for. Prior I was getting under 40 mbps down; on this router I'm consistently getting 290+ mbps down. Between our my family and guests, I've had 10 smartphones, Xbox One, multiple tablets, and smart TV's streaming all at once with no problems at all.

Very good router
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Replaced the cable company gateway. It was easy to setup and performs so much better. I have a strong signal in all areas of the apartment. That wasn't the case with the gateway. Very happy with my purchase.

Great wifi speeds, Not much faster than old tech.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This short review is for the Asus RT-AC3100 wifi router. This is a nice router if you're looking for an upgrade to AC speeds. If you already have an AC speed router then the only improvements you will see is in the looks and the "extras" Asus provides. I do have to say though that even though one of the things this router says it supports is MU-MIMO (for the very few peripherals out there that can use it) it does not actually support this feature in the stock or flashable firmware that Asus provides at its support website rather you have to ask for it via email and they will send you the firmware after some time. They do however provide regular updates to the MU-MIMO firmware once you are on the mailing list which is nice.

Amazing router for gaming and all uses.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This was a very good purchase. I was looking for a high performance wireless router and wanted the best range and speeds I could get. Since purchasing this Asus RT-AC3100 router I have had no problems with wifi connectivity. Also I used to only use ethernet for gaming but with this router I've been getting the same speeds and reliability I would have with an ethernet. And with no problems or disconnections. I HIGHLY recommend this to anyone looking for a premium router for gaming and everyday use.

Blazing fast and strong
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This router is a great one. I tested it against netgear x10 and linksys e9500. It performed equil to or better than both of the others for less than half the price. It has a very strong signal and is blazingly fast. Easey to set up too. The only reason i went with the linksys e9500 is because I wanted a slightly different user interface and a few different options for my situation. For most people, this router is absolutely a must have.

Overkill for average user
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This router has wonderful coverage is relatively easy to set up and has been working great for a few months. However unless you consider yourself a power user or you absolutely require some of the features this router has, I would consider getting something a little more basic and a bit cheaper. For those who know what they want and are familiar enough with the tech to fully utilize this hardware I would say this is an excellent choice.

Best router I've used.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've been using ASUS products for years now but I switched to a Netgear Nighthawk X10 which was instantly regrettable. The software created so many glitches and network disconnects that I went back to ASUS with this router. I joined the ASUS family of routers because I was upset that my Linksys routers had NAT issues within a month after the warranty ends. These weren't issues on my end -- the router truly failed and the fix was to log in and hit save without changing any settings. As a consumer, I will not support products constantly failing on me just as the warranty ended.I've even recommended this router to friends as I've been extremely happy with this model for almost 3 years now. My ISP provides me with Gigabit speeds, both download and upload, which is what I get when hard wired to this router. On the wireless side of things, I get about 500mbps-600mbps on the 5Ghz band and about 100Mbps on the 2.4Ghz band. I don't experience any connection drops and it easily reaches every room in my two story home despite being on one side of the house. The 2.4Ghz band even reaches outside into the outdoor patio where signal is decent enough to stream Hulu Live. Highly recommended for any gamer or streamer out there.

Best Router Used
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Better than the Netgear NightHawk X6 that I used for a year, no issues, haven't had to restart since purchase. Great coverage in 2300 SQFT Home. No drops, faster Pings than Netgear NightHawk X6.

Great wireless router for Gamers!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So after a 2 years of my wife and I not being able to get a wireless signal in our bedroom from the router in the gameroom even with signal boosters we decided to go on the search for a new and improved router. I'll be the first to tell you we found exactly what we were looking for. My cell phone connects to the wireless before I ever even pull into my driveway. The capabilities this router has for gaming and wireless use are outstanding. If you've been looking for a while I'd recommend you look no further. Great price point for what you get.

Phenomenal router
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This router is fantastic. It has amazing reach through my home, speeds are maintained even at over 100 feet away from the router, and the simplicity of management is quite nice. I'm a fan.

Excellent range and features
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This model only lack the extra 4 wired ports of the AC88u but is nearly $100 cheaper. I get full signal all over a two story house even with the router on the lower level at one end of the house. Now only my internet plan speed is a limiting factor. MIMO option in settings quadrupled the speed to my iPad Air 2. Easy setup. Stream Netflix, download from PSN and web browse from multiple devices at the same time - no problems.

Build a Mesh network
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought two of these to build a mesh network in my house. Two of these and a ASUS RT-AC88U have made a poweful single WIFI network that will handle anything I throw at it. FInally one networrk SSID everywhere in my home and even very strong up to 75 ft outside. Very easy to configure. All three routers are wired together giving me the absolute best speeds. I highly recommend ASUS for Meshing.

This is the Toyota of Routers
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have two of these to compliment its cousin, the Asus RT-AC88U (the Lexus of routers). ASUS has created a great mesh system that makes it possible to get great wi-fi throughout my 4500sq ft home but it takes at least 3 to get almost full coverage but with over 50 devices in use, it manages to provide great signal strength and maintains the bandwidth so I can work even when multiple devices are streaming video and the kids are gaming. The interface is user friendly enough and keeping up with firmware updates is easy enough. When used with an external hard drive, performance suffers a little bit but overall this is a very good router. If you have the cash, spring for the upgrade to the ASUS RT-AC88U (you will get 8 LAN ports instead of just 4). However, if you want great function at a reasonable price with performance comparable to the Netgear Nighthawk, this is the router for you. If I had money to spend $400 on each router, I would have gone with NetGear but I only had a budget of $250 per router so at this price point, the ASUS AC3100 is as good as it gets.

As good as it gets.
||Posted . Owned for 1 year when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This router is easy on the eyes and hard on the performance. Many features, gaming settings and UI interfaces. Easy to setup and install. My connection to game servers has never been better. We run 3 pcs 2 smartphones and several consoles in our home and this thing handles them no problem with 5ghz and 2.4 ghz options.
