We love the idea that we can enter a title of a tv series that we like, and this thing will search all online sources (netflix, hulu, amazon, xfinity, etc) and weeks' worth of listings to collect all the available streaming and recorded episodes in one spot. Great for binge watchers!!

Working to get rid of cable TV and the excessive charges, I checked TiVo out and liked the reviews. I bought this and connected it to an unamplified Mohu Leaf antenna. I am getting clear recordings of OTA channels. I can check it online and add or change recordings. I am very happy with this purchase. It's a great product ! I love it !

As cable companies continue to rake you over the coals for cable tv ditch em. Get a tivo and an HD powered antena like the leaf and save over $150 a month. Our cable was stupid high! This unit is better than most DVR UI's too. Love the remote. Good form factor

Cable Card Issues

I thought this would be an upgrade from my Tivo Premiere, but after 2 separate units and 8 different cable cards from my provider, I could not get the unit to receive all of the channels I could with my Premiere. I contacted Tivo customer service multiple times; during one of those calls the service tech admitted they had a known problem with certain cable cards and recommended I try at least 5 cards before returning the unit. Best Buy gets 5 stars for letting me return both units, but Tivo wasn't very helpful

I have owned 3 Tivos across 25 years nothing really comes close. My only complaints are: 1) it doesn't support one of the big cable providers which effectively limits my choices, and 2) Tivo doesn't provide any adjustment to enlarge the on-screen font display size. Not kewl when once considers our aging population.

I think I like it. Haven't had it that long. I like the Cox program guide layout better. Return policy not as generous as some to really let you try it out. When switching from another source to tivo sometimes have to turn tv off then back on. I like streaming is in same box.

Would have been good for us but the apt we are at has only an HDMI cable, and we could not access the coaxial cable to hook up to Tivo. Also would have had the monthly subscription fee, so ended up returning the unit.

Overall this TiVo is a great product and works perfectly for over the air (OTA) channels. It also gives me the option to use this if I do get cable. If you are certain that you will not get cable, there are other options that will not require you to pay for the service plan.

I am a former TiVo user who gave it up when my land phoneline went away; new one is wifi and somewhat different from my 1st unit. Instructions are sadly lacking detail on basic functions. (New unit is a TiVo Bolt)

Downgrade From Roamio

I had a Roamio Pro that dies due to a power surge. The Roamio was a 6 tuner unit and now the Bolt is a 4 tuner unit. The Bolt is nice and fast but the lack of the 2 extra tuners hurts with 2 minis utilizing 2 of the tuners.

I wanted to do away with cable so I hooked up an antenna. I thought with the TiVo Bolt and their subscription I would be able to get more channels. I was wrong you also have to subscribe to Netflix. Hulu ect... It does record the local channels and has the skip function.

I love TiVo! Can't go back to to my cable provider for their DVR they are all second rate when compared to TiVo! With TiVo you can SKIP t the commercials, with ONE PASS you can record all your favorite shows wherever and whenever they're on.
I've owned TiVo's for at least 15 years. Can't ever go back!

I've had TIVOs since they first came out. I update every few years when the unit either dies or new features are added. Easy to use. My previous unit only "tapped" 2 shows at a time but his unit can record 4 simultaneously. I haven't ever needed to record more than that so I am very happy.

There are so many services bundled that are easy to handle but a little steep on the operational side, at first. Using the DVR has many nice features included. There are some problems with the Schedule Grid I would like to see altered but on the whole works great.

Nice device, nice service, OUTSTANDING customer service! Only issue is with the cable provider! Though no fault of tivo at all, I ended up getting so frustrated with COX that I returned the Tivo unit and decided to just get the cable providers DVR. I only mention that because you must use the cable provider to use the Tivo unit.

There is nothing like having TiVo for your TV viewing. I don't understand why satellite carriers and cable companies don't offer it directly. Would make it much better for the consumer. The lousy user interface offered by cable companies cannot compare with the TiVo experience.
