I loved the ui, and the concept of a DVR for under $200. Sadly, this product never worked correctly. Exchanged it once only to get another defective one.

If you want to pay for a DVR service this is probably one of the best. I don't want to pay after I buy it

This product could not work with my cable company. Make sure your cable company is compatible with Tivo or its just a waste of money.

Bought this for my child going to college. Specifically asked if this would work with a coax cable. Best Buy techs opened the box and looked at product to make sure it would work. We moved them in and hooked it up, coax to TiVo, hdmi from TiVo to TV. Well we immediately got a message that said you won't be able to record without a cable card. Which the BB Techs said we didn't need it. So now I have a big paperweight.

I had 2 problems with the Tivo; 1) The hardware was extremely hot to the touch, and, would not shut off/power down; and, 2) Is not compatible with either Dish or Directv satellite, which is what I have. Tivo is compatible with regular cable television. Returned it to Best Buy.

My cable company did not have the M-card required for the unit to work. Presently, I am still being charged for Tivo service. Tivo required set up before unit can be used. Then subsequently found our our cable company did not support the unit.

The monthly charge for TiVo Bolt was in small print. I recently went to an antenna, and have no desire to pay monthly fees if I can avoid it. I returned the product the next day.

Great product and quality. Unit is smaller than last roamio. It has 4K but you need to make sure that your tv supports Hdcp 2.2 if it doesn't you won't get Netflix in 4K. This unit will up convert which is a plus if your tv doesn't support it already.

After 17 years with paying for Dish, I finally decided to cut the cord. I did the research and bought an antenna, booster, and a TiVo Bolt. I wanted to have a DVR since I had grown accustom to having one before. The set up was relatively painless, and went a little quicker than instructions tell you. I does take some work figuring out which channels to check and uncheck in the channel list, but when you finally figure it out, it works similar to a regular tv. The recommended show recordings were a nuisance, and I had to figure out quickly how do stop the recordings. Deleting the recordings is slow and cumbersome. My problems came later. My particular TiVo came with a year subscription to the guide, which you have to subscribe to in order for the TiVo to work properly. After updates, sometimes you would lose channels for a day or two, then they would show back up again as if nothing had happened. The final straw was I had some channels disappear altogether. I could find them on the signal strength menu, but not on my channel list, so I couldn't tune to them. After 3 months of talking to customer service and numerous cases (which they just kept closing without fixing the problem) I still don't have the channels. I asked for a couple of months of the guide service since I had lost it, and they declined. Also, if I quit my subscription, they won't even fix the problem. I cut the cord to stop having to pay someone else for a free product, totally not worth $150/yr when other dvr services provide it with the purchase of their product. Buyer beware, they don't stand behind their product!

    Good alternative to cable

I purchased the BOLT about four months ago as part of my cable cord cutting project. A major factor in my decision was the BOLT's integration of OTA and streaming services into one programming system. It has, for the most part, met my expectations. The menu system is much better than than that of my former TV provider (Cox Cable). Not only is it much faster and more flexible, it also extends programming almost two weeks into the future rather than Cox' usual six days. The four tuners (compared to my former two) are more than sufficient for my needs. The only glitch that I have run into involves the aforementioned streaming service integration and its lack of access to HBO NOW. HBO GO is available, but that doesn't help cord cutters as you must have a cable/satellite subscription to access that service. Although having to switch to ROKU to access HBO is an admittedly minor annoyance, it seems a strange oversight in light of the quality of the rest of the integration. All in all, I feel that this was a wise purchase. I would, and have, recommended the BOLT to others.

After using U-Verse for some time now, I thought I would try the Tivo Bolt since they were priced well on clearance. I did not even get through the account setup before I decided to return it. First off - I didn't realize there is no more 1 year free service included. I read tons of reviews before buying but no where did I see that. I guess when the price dropped - so did the free year. And then you have to commit to $15 per month for one full year . So what if I hate it? Even though I have 30 days to return to BB - I still am out the $180 bucks for the subscription? Ok - I was willing to overlook the 1 free year changing because the price was good - but the fact I cannot cancel (with refund) if I don't like it is just not acceptable. I don't sign cable contracts - so why would I want to lock myself into this? No thank you. It's going back.

By far the most user-friendly Tivo to date. I recommend using this instead of cable company DVR.
