Customers are saying

Customers find value in the 800 Series dishwasher's quiet operation, excellent cleaning performance, and the convenient third rack. Many appreciate its ease of use and large capacity, although some users note that the controls may take time to master and that cycle times are longer than some competitors. A few customers reported issues with reliability and an unusual odor. The high price point was also a recurring concern for some buyers.

    1. I have extensively been researching dishwashers and tried a few. I had my eyes on this for months as it was always sold out. 2. Upon getting the product and using it a total of 3 times, I have found myself used it an incredibly foul smell. Like vomit. No amount of cleaning / cleaning can rid of it once you use it. Even if you clean the drain pipe. 3. 4th time usage it won’t drain and now causes all the water to come back up. Imagine mixed food with water and detergent all combined.. 4. This is causing the crystal dry to not run and the water always sits in the pipe with partial drain. Pipe is not clogged on either end. The mechanism is just bad and it stinks horribly! 5. Get A Kitchen Aid 604 series or higher!! Better water filtration system!!!

    Depressing installation process.

Im rating this a 1 star not due to the dishwasher being bad, the dishwasher is amazing. The fact Best Buy chooses to send out the installation team they do is ridiculous. The installation got canceled 3 times without notice after I took off work. I work 24 hour shifts and that's a lot of money to miss out on for someone who is not showing up and didn't even notify us they weren't. When the dishwasher installation crew finally did show up they were rude, they didn't wear a mask the entire time, they were incompetent with the installation and straight up insulted my home and kitchen set up. Multiple times the installer stated that my home was "wack" and that the set up was all wrong. My wife had to point out easy ways to overcome "obstacles" for eas of installing a dishwasher in a spot that already housed the same size dishwasher. At one point one installer entered my home with a partially lit cigarette and found that to be no issue at all. I have 2 toddlers in my home and its smoke free. I purchased the dishwasher online and have been trying to get this resolved through the customer service but we always either get transfered without notice or hung up on. I don't understand why buying a dishwasher that is this expensive was so difficult to get installed in my home. Also to top it off the instal team caused a leak that had water running all the way to my basement. That issue is finally being processed but outside of Best Buy. Highly disappointed in this process.

The Hype is Justified (Bosch 800 vs 300 Compared)

As others have said, Bosch has managed to change dishwashers, a category that is normally a yawner, into something exciting. Once you've owned a Bosch, it's easy to see what the hype is about. In our case, we have experience with both this Bosch 800 series and a Bosch 300 series that's currently for sale (SHEM63W55N). For those on the fence, we wanted to share our opinions on both to help you decide. For those that need the short version, this can be summed up in one sentence: You can't go wrong with either, but if you are already spending nearly $1,000 for a 300 Series, the CrystalDry feature of the 800 Series makes the extra cost a good investment. Bosch 800 (SHPM78Z55N) vs. 300 (SHEM63W55N) Cleaning Both models seem to clean identically, which is to say that they both do a FANTASTIC job. Items that our old dishwasher used to struggle with come out perfectly clean with Bosch. Even items on the top third rack come out looking spotless. We've stopped using the removable utensil rack on the bottom and just put utensils in the slots on the third rack, which frees up extra space on the bottom. Noise We had the 300 in a different house with nicer cabinets and countertops than the 800, so it is not fair to do a direct comparison here. What we will say is that they are both very quiet, and whether they are even audible at all when running will depend on how nice your cabinets & countertops are, what items you are washing, and your proximity to the unit when it's on. The only sound we've ever heard from ours is the faint sound of the water jets spraying over large metal items like cookie sheets. Without those in the cycle, we don't hear anything. Buttons This 800 series has touch-sensitive controls on the top, whereas the 300 (SHEM63W55N) has physical buttons on the front. The other 300 Series models with top controls also employ buttons in this location. Based on our experience, there is a trade-off in function vs. form here. The touch-sensitive controls on the 800 make the control surfaces feel more premium, but require a bit of finesse to use. By comparison, the physical buttons on the 300 are more straightforward to use, but don't feel quite as premium. That makes this comparison a subjective one, and your preferences may be different than ours. We could go either way on this one. Drying This is really the only significant difference between the 300 and 800 Series during our use. The 300 Series uses condensation drying only, meaning it heats the dishes up with very hot water so that the water evaporates off of them. This works surprisingly well with glass and metal items, but plastic does not retain heat very well so the condensation drying is not as effective on these items. Large plastic items like Tupperware can sometimes require a lot of hand drying upon completion with the 300. By comparison, with the 800 and CrystalDry enabled, even the plastics come out almost totally dry. In our estimation, it provides the same performance you would get from a premium dishwasher with a traditional heating element. Conclusion Both the 300 and 800 Series are both fantastic dishwashers, and you can't go wrong with either. If you use a ton of plastics or are very picky about how dry things are once cycles are finished, our opinion is that the $300ish extra to get the 800 is worth the investment.

The box was in great condition when it's delivered. But the dishwasher has 3 obvious dents as I unboxed it. I spent around 3000 dollars and bought this dishwasher and a washtower, which has a non-draining washer. Super disappointing.

The construction alone of the entire dishwasher is better than anything we’ve had (2 maytags and 2 kitchenaids in the last 20 years). We run our dishwasher almost every night. With a family of 6 and basically a chef in our house – it gets a lot of use. We thought we did it right with the top of the line kitchenaid 3 years ago, but the thing fell apart (top rack was connected with smallest plastic parts and the heating element buckled twice and finally the direct drive motor died, the insulation was also terrible). This Bosch is incredible from easy install with a solid base, intuitive leveling, metal connections to the top rack, useable 3rd rack (the kitchenaid third rack would not work for anything – glasses would not fit below it with dishes on the bottom at the same time, so we threw it away). On top of that, we can fit more in the dishwasher with the closer together pegs (it always take a bit of time to adjust to loading a new dishwasher), everything comes out clean every time, it runs for less time and it is beautiful! The only things I miss from the kitchenaid are the stay on display to know how much time was left, the white light that told me when it was done and clean, and the silverware rack, but honestly – with the benefits of the Bosch, I don’t miss those after a 2 months of use. It would seem simple though to program those display options into the control board as an option and let homeowners decide if they want the display on or not. If I were to buy this again, I would probably buy one with the external handle vs. the recessed handle based on an ergonomics perspective.

I appreciate how well the Bosch cleans dishes, accommodates so many different types and shapes of dishes and gets almost everything dry. The third shelf is really helpful and the adjustable second shelf makes it possible to adapt the machine to lots of different sized dishes. The extra drying feature seems to work well, and almost everything comes out dry. It is also very quiet and the red sensor is easy to see when the washer is running.

Type A person. I research everything to death. Hemmed and hawed. Narrowed it down to GE profile and Bosch 800 series. After the first 2 weeks of adjusting, no doubt this is the best product on the market. We use our dishwasher nightly. Pros - can fit a lot. 3rd rack fits a ton - silent, can barely hear it’s on - everything comes out clean. Added a Mac and cheese pot without cleaning and it came out spotless - plastics can be placed anywhere and they dry. They do not lose shape if placed on bottom rack Adjustments and became pros - takes time understanding how to change defaults to get things like rinse aide levels or auto off. Manual is online - don’t believe the reviews that say the tines have weird angles. It’s an adjustment but cups and plates fit perfectly - takes 3:21 on the auto cycle with sanitize and crystal dry. Sometimes I forget to hit sanitize but can’t Tell the difference. - because of no heater, tops of cups may be wet and the back of dishwasher will be wet. It dries after about 30 mins of opening. Not a huge issue for us and it’s not soaking - my biggest do over would be getting the darker color. The stainless steel seems to spot easier than our previous dishwasher - because of no heater it uses the crystals to dry. That is the smell you get when you open after cleaning. Not toxic but different

My mom had just replaced her dishwasher (it was a 3 year old popular competitive model) and swore she would never get another. That other brand happened to be the one I was looking at as well, but did have a few concerns about the model based on some of the things that I had read. We knew we had some time before we replaced our dishwasher so about a year later when we needed to, I checked in with my mom and she said she’d never own anything else. That was enough for me, so we changed direction and went with this. It is awesome. I can’t state that enough. The settings and options for cleaning and drying are very robust, the adjustable rack is very helpful and this thing makes NO noise whatsoever. A couple of things you should be aware of: first, the automatic cycle takes 2 hours and 6 minutes to run. I honestly have no idea how that compares to other dishwashers, but I thought I would throw it out there. Also, it took me a few cycles to get the hang of turning the thing on (I’m not smart). And finally, if you are buying this to replace an existing dishwasher, make sure you find out what king of electrical connection you have on your existing dishwasher. My original installation had to be rescheduled because I did not have the correct junction box that this dishwasher requires. If you don’t have it, you can buy it, it’s not a big deal. Insanely clean dishes, quiet as a church mouse. Can’t wait to replace my refrigerator with a Bosch now!

Very quiet dishwasher. Very sleek looking in the kitchen in the black stainless steel edition. No fingerprints and no buttons. Cool red light on the floor is the only way you know it's on, that's how quiet it is. The delivery and installers did a great job making this fit in the tight spot of our former dishwasher in regards to drain and feed pipes. (The people prior had made it hard for them) Lots of room for lots of dishes. Love the third rack, and stainless steel bottom. Bosch is really good. We're happy.

This review is by Donna S. the official dishwasher of the family. This purchase was made to replace a recently ordered dishwasher that didn't dry. I was a little worried about this brand because I am not familiar with it. I spoke at length with an agent on the chat line and decided to try this model! It's amazing. Literally the best dishwasher I have ever owned. I was concerned that it might not dry the dishes or the tub because I was later told it has no heating element. It does dry the dishes and the inside of the machine. The dishes come out squeaky clean. There are options on this machine, called Chrystal Dry and Sanitize that take care of the drying. It has a light that shines on the floor showing that the machine is still running. It's also so beautiful. A well made sturdy machine, that has a rubber stripping that hides the space between the washer and the cabinet. Did I mention that it's so quiet that I don't know it's running? It's expensive, but so was the one that I bought that didn't try or clean well. I spent a little more money and now have a reliable well designed dishwasher. I'm so happy with it.

What I love: it’s super quiet, has room for a huge number of dishes, and the many rack adjustments accommodate all different shapes and sizes of dishes. I didn’t realize how handy the third rack would be. Oh yeah, the dishes are squeaky clean! Could improve: I find the labels on the controls difficult to read, and the exact right spot to press isn’t obvious. Not a major problem, but could be more efficient.

Very pleased with my purchase of this Bosch 42dba dishwasher. Super quiet throughout cycle (except for when it dumps the water out - which is understandable). Have been using for 6 weeks now. Dishes come out very clean. Like the flexibility of lowering/raising the upper rack and the dark gray tines that fold down for better arranging items to be washed. Like the 3rd shelf for silverware, utensils. Only negative might be that when I put Rubbermaid type plastic containers in, they don't always come completely dry - but a minor inconvenience. Have tried the different settings (incl Eco, Auto, Short Wash) and not sure yet that I am optimizing my choices - but not difficult to operate, I'll figure it out what's best over time. I have always purchased GE/Profile dishwashers - but am now a happy convert to Bosch.

Very happy with this purchase. Replaced a Frigidaire model that died after 7 years. We live in Vegas with very hard water and this cleans our dishes to sparkling clean and clear. Love the third rack for silverware. Easy to load and unload. Dishes are super clean. Only con is the outside finish. It is brushed stainless steel but fingerprints show up on it and it’s hard to clean and keep clean. This machine is so quiet you can barely tell it’s on until the water empties. Would definitely recommend.

Bought this dishwasher after a failed DIY maintenance on my 12 year old GE. My brother has a new 5 series that he raves about. I was shopping for exactly what he had and came across this 800 series as an open item on display at my local store. Because it was an open item it was discounted. I purchased this instead since it was cheaper than the 500 series. The dishwasher is very quiet and I would have not known it was running if not for the red light on the floor. Dishes come out clean even if I don't pre-rinse it. If you use jet dry then the cups/glasses are 98% dry. There is some water on the underside of my mug but not as much as what my GE would leave. I love the 3rd top rack for cooking utensils. Everything has a place in this dishwasher. I highly recommend it especially if you can get it on sale. I saved about $550 due to open items being on sale.

I've been running the Bosch 800 for about 3 weeks now. It was easy to install. It's nice looking. Controls are simple once you figure them out. Good users manual and excellent online tutorials. The only (minor) complaint in that regard is that we had to find the users manual online. A paper copy wasn't included with the dishwasher. Of course, the most important question is if it cleans dishes well. We have a family of 8. We use the dishwasher every day. It is absolutely AWESOME at cleaning dishes. I haven't had a dishwasher with a 3rd rack before. It's an awesome feature. We have a family of 8, and all of the silverware fits on the top rack. We don't use the silverware basket in the lower rack, which means we can wash more dishes there. Dishwasher is easy to clean. Simple to operate. Easy to maintain so far. Stainless steel bin is great. Can't say enough about how well this dishwasher is designed.

This thing cleans amazing, has a lot of room because of the tall tub. Is easy to use. Only con is the lower cutlery basket. It doenst separate, and because the 3rd rack does an incredible job cleaning silverware you're never going to need the full length basket. So I bought one on line that separates or you could buy a model that has the basket separate. I mean separate by it splitting in half. Great dishwasher.
