I bought a new house after a divorce and needed all new electronics since I had nothing. I'm a huge music fan and wanted something that would fill the house with great sound. After trying out this system in store, I decided to get it and have not been disappointed. It sounds phenomenal for its size and doesn't take up the space that a rack system with separate speakers would. It's a little pricey, so you have to decide whether you love the sound enough to justify the cost. I do so I bought it.

One of our speakers was going out in our sound system so we started shopping around. We started out looking for a box and surround sound speakers but realized we would be spending $1000 to get low end. We saw this speaker and noticed that we could plug several devices into it and we were getting the top level of sound bar.
To say the least, it's amazing. Sounds like we have speakers all over the room. Bass is heavy but controlled. Volume range is enormous. Can send Pandora or Spotify straight to the sound bar.
Needless to say, I'd recommend this to anyone.

I was in market for a soundbar . Also I already have two w7's speakers . I initially bought sonos and I hated that due to sonos lacked punch. Boss sound touch 300 along with sub is kind of close match to this but that is almost 400 more expensive but it is also inferior in bass to this DT . Design is good but it does have sharp edges . If you are planning to have this around kids . You should find some soft materials to cover edges/ corners.
Over satisfied with purchase and recommend to friend . Will plan to add my w7's for surround in future

Purchased to breathe life to the TV we had. Right out of the box it sounded amazing. We were quite impressed with the weight of the sound bar. We didn't expect it to have substance. Probably the 9 speakers built-in. The sound was amazing and produced the right amount of bass for our style of music and movies. Streaming music through the wireless worked flawlessly. Wireless setup took longer than I would have liked. Hopefully, they make it easier for those with less time and patience. I would recommend it to friends.

Very good quality and sound. Connection took a little effort, but could just be my limited network skills. Stable once up and running.

I got this product after having to return my Sony HT-ST7 soundbar after one of the speakers broke. I was preferential to the Sony soundbar and wanted to exchange it for another of the same but was told that soundbar was discontinued. The salesperson told me this was a very popular product and was a much better soundbar with richer sound and the ability to add-on additional speakers. I took his advice and went with this soundbar. They gave me a one for one exchange (the DT W Studio soundbar was apparently $200 more expensive). However immediately upon connecting it I did not like it. Personally I felt the sound was not as good of quality as the Sony (before it made the continuous crackling sound). I was also disappointed that this soundbar did not have ARC connection. This was a big thing for me as I have a smart tv with lots of apps. I tested the cable box, ps4/blu-ray player through the soundbar using both HDMI and optical and was still not impressed. I ended up returning this and buying a Sony HT-ST9. It cost several hundred dollars more but I was much more pleased with the sound quality, bass, and options. Other owners of this soundbar might feel different; however, like I said, I personally did not like it.

This unit has the best sound of any sound bar I listened to. It has one major flaw that was a deal killer for me -- the volumn control is so coarse that it is always either too loud or to quiet. Never just right. We took it back and bought the Bose Soundtouch 300. Not as good sounding, but the volumn controls are superior.

I really enjoy the DefTech W Studio soundbar. I searched and read so many reviews before selecting this soundbar. It looks good under the TV mounted on the TV mount and it does not overpower the look because it is small in size. So of the other soundbars in this quality.price range are very large and the PlayFi system is a nice added function. The sub woofer completes the audio quality of the sound system as I am only using this for TV/DVD playback, so I did not get the complete system. Living in an apartment, so the added units was not on my list to purchase. I listened to all of the soundbars that where in the store, but I found that many that tried to be complete systems, loss some of the clarity while watching DVDs. Sound quality is great, but if you have the room for a complete sound system, purchase it, but as I said before if space and quality is an issue this is a good systems to purchase. I think you will always get better surround sound experience from separates, but this system is very good with just the soundbar and sub woofer. App on the smart phone is great to connect to the Play Fi system.

Great sound system. On screen display sucks. Great bass and clear sound. Make sure router isn't to close to the bar or it will interfere with subwoofer causing it to go out intermittently. Only downfall is the hdmi ports aren't 2.0 or higher to support 4K. And doesn't have arc. Other then that I'm very happy with it

I looked at many different sound bars. Many sounded good, but lacked the bass that really makes them sound excellent. The Definitive Technology blew away the completion. The highs are crisp and the bass is everything you would want. Although it does not have Bluetooth, the WiFi connection is very good. The manual could be a little more in depth, but I was able to set up almost with no issues. Great sounding system.

I bought this hesitantly after having issues with a W Studio Micro Subwoofer. The W Studio did not exhibit the same issue and initially I was quite happy with it.
Despite my low rating, the sound quality I felt is really good. And if your use of the soundbar doesn't require fine audio adjustments (like having background music playing in the same room, or watching a movie while the kids are asleep) then perhaps there would be no issue with this. But I can't recommend it.
The audio, especially at low volumes, jumps significantly between notches. It will be too loud, or too soft. And that's when the source is wired in. When you try to use the Play-Fi app it's 5 times worse, jumping from inaudible to being too loud to carry on a conversation nearby.
In communicating with their tech support, the answer to whether this will be improved was that they "may have something, eventually". The answer regarding the Play-Fi app was to "move the slider to find the sweet spot for the volume level". Very disappointing. The whole point is that there is no sweet spot. It needs to allow 1 decibel increments, IMO.
In addition to the sound quality, I did really like the aesthetics of the bar, the fact that you can connect surround play-fi speakers and loved that it performed HDMI switching. But in the end, the bells and whistles are not enough to mask the flaw in the volume control.

Have had this for 2 months now and I must say I have had no complaints whatsoever. The price is a bit steep compared to other soundbar systems but boy when you switch it on and listen, it makes it worth it.

Great sound! I was looking for a wireless sound bar, but without having to use a Wi-Fi and without additional gadgets
This was the best.
