Great Buy
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. When i bought this laptops for myself yesterday...i was a but unsure due to its lower price...but it was actually a really good but buy. I was orginally looking at the Dell Inspiron Mini. But looking at some of Specs, i noticed that this Gateway had a bettter processor, and a bigger hard drive, so i became intrested with this one for its sleek design, and it has bigger keys for people with bigger hands so it comes in handy. I love this thing, and it was a good choice. Another thing that really sparked my attention was the screen quality. Everything comes in sooo clear. The webcam is also very clear. This computer is good on viewing videos online too...doesnt skip or freeze. it works really nice. I've desided to add myself as another happy bestbuy customer. A great buy and a wonderful netbook

Great little portable netbook (just one fault)
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It's my first netbook and I'm in love with it. Great value for the price with a N450 Intel Atom and 250 GB memory; it was down to the Asus and this one since they both had all the same qualifications and price; I chose this one because I liked the trackpad better even though other people seem to find it cheap I find it easy to use. **It's been great so far(had it for about 3 weeks) except for this one glitch I've been having: when I leave my OS on and close the netbook, it seems to freeze when I open it. I have to then take out the battery and put it back to get it restarted; it only happens when I do this though. It doesn't seem to be happening to anyone else so I'm just wondering if anyone has a solution or if this has happened to anyone. It doesn't bother me enough to get it traded in for a new one because as long as I don't do that it won't freeze; it just would be nice to be able to do that.** The Windows 7 Starter doesn't bother me that much but its not a plus to have either (it does explain for the cheaper price though). This is a finger magnet machine so it'd be handy to have something to clean it with handy. Overall, except for that one glitch, I love this little gem!

Great netbook
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So far this has been a great computer for using on the couch or out of the house. I have been getting about 7.5 hours of battery life. That's with light web browsing and the screen as dim as it gets. I never set the brightness all the way up. I think it's too bright. The biggest problem I have is that windows runs kind of slow. The typical memory load is between 45% and 65%. I guess I should put 2 gigs of RAM in there. Shortly after getting the computer I installed Archlinux, which runs great. I'm a little disappointed that there is no built-in Bluetooth and the wi-fi card can not access 5 ghz networks. But these can be fixed easily.

Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a great netbook. I would highly tell you to get one of these because it runs great, has a nice key board, has a video camera and a very long battery life. It is very well worth the price for the netbook because it runs great and everthing else.

pretty awsome!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I really like this net book , works great for my facebook games. I have to use the full screen option for some games to work fast enough , but that isnt reallly a problem. It is fast and small , easy to take along with you. The price is good too!

good price
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I ordered this to replace my 8 year old laptop which was getting rather slow. I was hoping to be amazed by the speed of the netbook in comparison and I was not. I've read you can upgrade the RAM to achieve this and I may look into doing this. It has been working pretty well the past couple weeks. I have enjoyed the portability. Yesterday I started having problems with the hibernation function. After leaving it on for a while the screen goes black; I used to just press the power key and it would wake up, but twice now I have had to manually restart it because it wouldn't wake up. Maybe I need to shut it down more often? Overall I wish I had gone with a better brand, but the price was good and it should hold me over till I am ready for another full size laptop.

So the Cow Box didn't let me down.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Since work has banned all streaming (yes not a very on your side experience) I was no longer able to listen to ESPN radio or netflix. So i need a quick cheap way to do this. Enter the Gateway. I was happy to find it sturdy, pretty fast considering the mini processor, and fun to use. I now can stream all I want when tethered to my blackberry. JUST fyi for those who want to tether with sprint. Make sure you download the older desktop software for vista as it has not had the 3g turned off. Works great wonderful screen and pretty darned good sound when used with my Sony in ears. Downside: You can't stream HD with it so if you want to use MLB.com's next def, or direct TV hd stream you will have to use the lesser definition....no biggie considering this is a freakin netbook with a dinky screen.

Great Value
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was in the market for a netbook that I could use for travel, so I wanted something lightweight, with great battery life. This fits the bill, plus it is a great value for the price, compared to the other netbooks available.

Good machine for the purpose of use.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've had this netbook for over a month now and it has proven to be a great piece of eqiupment. The prcessor is alot better than the N270 processor which was on most of the netbooks released before. The battery is outstanding. In the most simplest terms, you can charge the netbook overnight, unplug it and surf the web, check email and 5 hours later you notice you are still using your netbook on battery life. Windows 7 starter is limited but thats a quick fix. Also power button and the mouse button are in bad spots so watch where you are grabbing the netbook. The price of the Gatway is a very good deal. If you want a macbook get a macbook! but if you just need email and internet with a few extra additions in software, you can't go wrong with this product!

No Issues whatsoever with this Netbooki
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this netbook about a week ago. I downgraded from my big 15.4 inch laptop to this netbook. I am very happy with it. I carry it with me almost everywhere and I don't have to worry about having it plugged in all of the time to charge because it carries a decent battery life. It takes a bit of adjusting getting use to the keyboard but that's really it. I do plan on getting another 1 GB memory just to make my netbook more efficient as well as the external dvd drive just in case I need it. I definitely think that you should consider the Gateway netbook if you are in the market for one.

Great price! Awesome battery life!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It was super easy to set this product up! The display is good, and I really like the sleek design. When I compared other netbooks, I liked this one because of the larger keys. It makes it easier to type than on other keyboards with split keys. The "cursor" works well and is very responsive. Good sound quality too. There are 3 USB ports which is good for a wireless mouse, flashdrive for watching movies, and so forth. It runs very well, but I can see myself upgrading to 2GB memory at some point. It's not slow by any means, but it would be nice in the future to have more memory. That is my only complaint!

nice little computer
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Granted, I have only had this a couple of days but it has still been going on with little to no problems. I originally went with an ASUS and kept getting the blue screen of death. I decided to try it again and that machine did the same thing. I had originally purchased a Gateway for my wife and she had has no real problem so I decided to try the gateway as well. By this time with the ASUS' they were experiencing the blue screens (got to the point of about a third of the time). I do recommend the additional memory (comes with only 1 gig).

Had troubles with WIfi and Audio
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this netbook yesterday from the Best Buy on the southside of Des Moines. It worked great for the first day, but on the second day the wifi card stopped working completely. I decided that it wasn't enough for me to return it as I had a spare wifi adapter laying around that I could use to connect to the net, then a few hours later the audio began to cut out and fully stopped working. I took it back and exchange for another of the same model. I'm hoping this one lasts longer than 24 hours. Other than that it has exceeded my expectations - especially with the battery life, very long life for such a small computer. It's also a great ebook reader when Kindle for PC is installed. I would be willing to rate it higher than 3 stars if this new netbook lasts much longer than the first.

After a long search....I found the perfect netbook
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Did extensive research online on which netbook to buy. I narrowed it down to Asus, Toshiba and Gateway. Once I tested these three brands in the store, I eliminated Asus due to its small keyboard, and filmsy feel to the case. I liked the Toshiba very much, nice display, good size keyboard....but in the end, Gateway won due to its incredible screen, keyboard and what you get for the money. The Gateway works like a charm and has enough speed in it to satisfy anyone. I really like the fact that the computer's hinge gives a wider range of angles to view the screen more than any of the other brands at Best Buy. Check it out the next time you are in the store and you will see the Gateway is the only netbook that allows you to push the screen back farther. The netbook feels solid, boots up fast and Win7 Starter, although limiting, works great. With Win7 Starter, you can't change backgrounds (no big deal) and you can't switch users. You have to shut down and boot up again. That is a big deal. Did upgrade the netbook to 2GB memory and boy, this netbook now rivals my 15" Toshiba Dual Core laptop as for speed. I bought this netbook because I was tired of lugging my laptop to school (getting my PhD) and this netbook, less than 3 pounds, fits my needs for taking notes, grabbing email and using the internet. If you looking to do gaming, photo & video editing...this isn't the machine for you. But for everyday computing, this works well. The keyboard doesn't feel cramped and I get about 8 hours of battery time, with its 6-cell battery. I would never buy a netbook with a 3-cell battery...you wouldn't the battery time you get with a 6-cell battery. I wish the cover was matte instead of glossy which attracts fingerprints...but other than that...this is a fine, well made netbook! A very good bang for your money.
