I read reviews on many washers before purchasing this one. The installation was simple, I purchased with the new hoses and they look so much better than the plastic ones we used to have. I ran a few loads today and it appears the washer does a good job cleaning the clothes. Haven't tried any with heavy soil yet though. My only small complaint would be that it makes a lot of interesting noises as it's going through its cycle, filling and sensing. Not terrible, just noticeable sounds if you're in an adjacent room.

    A great washing machine!

After a lot of internet research I decided to pull the trigger with this GE HE machine. I like that it's got an actual agitator plus cool nobs instead of buttons. The machine does take some getting adjusted to as it makes a lot of weird noises - in fact, I've joked that it sounds like I turned on a space ship with the beeps and whirring as it uses it's smart features and whatnot but it's no louder than my last non HE machine that this was meant to replace so it doesn't bother me at all. It takes some getting used to seeing how low the water level looks on these newer HR models but when I feel like the water is too low the "deep fill" button comes to the rescue and the clothes come out clean and so well rinsed they appear dry or nearly dry sometimes. Two quick things for people that don't like to read instructions but want to start using the machine right away. 1) Always press the pause button before opening the machine or making any adjustments to the wash settings, then press the start button to resume. Easy. 2) When using the "precise fill" function, where it uses it's smart features to figure out the size of the load and adjusts the water level for you. Well, on this feature when you press Start, the machine locks. Again, simply press the pause button and wait for 5 full seconds, the machine will unlock and you can add more clothes or change the was setting. Super happy customer here - I highly recommend this machine. NOTE: A warning to Best Buy's customers that are city dwellers like myself. When I ordered this machine the site simply said, they offer free installation so naturally I chose this option. When the delivery guy arrived (4 hours late, mind you), he put the machine in its place and quickly turned around and left my apartment. When I followed him out to inquire about the full installation, which was offered and which I selected, he very matter of factly said that Best Buy's policy is that they are never to go under a sink to connect the machine and this mostly (only?) affects people that live in apartment buildings. WELL, I wish Best Buy was transparent on that policy at the point of sale since it was a MAJOR inconvenience (and a stupid policy!). Had I known this I would have paid to have a real technician hook it up and saved myself the headache.

I bought this product on May 31, 2017. It began having intermittent problems within two months. No matter what I do it always seems to get out of balance and shakes violently, often sliding off its pad. Now October/November it will fill with water and then immediately empty, including the soap I just put in. It will do this three or more times and then work. Other times it won't complete a cycle. It has a one year warranty but good luck. I would have to say that GE customer service has got to be the worst that I have ever experienced. You won't get to speak to anyone who knows anything. I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER GE PRODUCT FOR AS LONG AS I LIVE. This website doesn't give you the ability to give something negative stars so I had to give it one.

Don't waste your money - wish I had returned it!

I bought this washer about a year or so ago when my old dryer died. Although I didn't need a washer at the time, I figured since I was replacing the dryer, I might as well replace the washer too so it would be more efficient. BIG MISTAKE. I wish I had returned the washer when I had the chance. (The dryer is fine.) Yes, the tub is very large which seems ideal for a family of four. However, the washer cannot handle large loads. Every time I try to wash a large load, the clothes are dripping wet; saturated with water. When it happened the first time, I thought it was a user error so I kept experimenting. That's why so much time went by and I never returned it when I was within the return window. When the clothes are completely wet, you would think the SPIN ONLY would solve the problem. It doesn't! It actually ADDS WATER AGAIN. It is the most annoying thing ever. Now when I need to wash my comforter or large blankets, I need to go down to my parents house to use their machine! And the most recent problem is that now some of our clothes are coming out stained with blue spots. I can't figure it out because I have not changed my laundry detergent or softener. This was by far the most disappointing appliance we have had in our home in the 30 years we've lived there. DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME, MONEY OR AGGRAVATION!

A WASTE OF TIME AND MONEY

Bought this machine to replace the Kenmore I left behind after selling my house. Figured that it would be easier to get a new washer than to take the old one with me. Now I realize that was a mistake. The Kenmore was 9 years old and worked fabulously. This GE has a lot of issues and makes the simple chore of doing laundry a long drawn out frustrating task. Here's what I deal with with every load...1. weak agitation ( the salesman said that the "gentler" agitation saves your clothing. Actual results... clothes that are still dirty. And YES I am using the HE detergent as recommended, as well as a stain remover / whitener....2. low water levels. The deep fill feature is a joke. It is nearly impossible to get the machine to sense the size of your load. Most of the time the water rises only 1/4 of the way up the tub on a large load. This leaves me having to add more water...and not with the ease of pushing a button. The machine won't let you reset any of the settings while it is already in the process of filling. Therefore, I take a 5 gallon bucket of water from my sink and haul it to the machine. PROBLEM SOLVED...well not really. After all of this I have to deal with the rinse. The machine only has a memory to go back to that 1/4 fill and does a lousy job at rinsing. 3. It takes forever to get the wash done. If you are in a hurry.....forget it. There are way too many pauses between cycles. A large load runs about an hour. So, summing up my review, I will say this.....I looked at many washers before making this purchase and chose this one because it seemed to have the features (although updated) that my old Kenmore had. The newer Kenmores are no longer the way were back 10 years ago. Now I am missing the days when I could do a load of wash easily by turning a knob, setting the water level and temperature manually and hearing that agitator working knowing that my wash would come out perfectly. This new GE is a perfect example of a product that was "fixed" when it wasn't broken...all in the name of technological advancement. If you can find an older machine from say 10 years ago or so, you may want to give it a look. I will be searching Craigs List for one like I had to leave behind in my move. I do not recommend the GE washer to anyone.

Worked well for the first year

I bought mine at Sears about two years ago. It worked really well for the first year. After that, it began to have what I assume are electronic issues. It starts to fill with water, gets somewhat full (it's different every time) and then quits. I press the button to start it again and it spits a little water and quits again. I can't find a way to get it to work correctly anymore. Because everything is electric, if you cancel the current cycle, it's drains out all the water before starting again. Everytime this happens, there goes all of your laundry detergent. I can only imagine how much detergent we've wasted in this thing. A few months ago also, the plastic attachment that holds the agitator on broke into a few pieces. At least it was only $20 online since I'm able to replace it myself. But, finally, enough is enough and we can't take it anymore. We're going out to find a different machine.

Clothes do not come clean or get completely wet-even when using the deep fill feature. How can the clothes get clean if they don't even get wet? I use the second rinse feature and the blue fabric softener is still all over my clothes. GRRRRRR. This machine does NOT do it's job!!! For the first time in my life I am RE-washing loads of clothes.

We have had the washer for some time. We have given up getting it fixed. It now needs a "board" according to the repairman. Yep, a $400.00 part. Will never buy a GE product again!!!! Don't waste your money on this washer.
