    I own the 2014 version and heard that this version was faster. So far I haven't detected a speed difference. Or if I have it's not material. Overall I love Google Chromecast when people come to visit and want to show the photos on their phone. It's a great way to share on a big screen rather than hovering. Integration with YOUTUBE is great. A little trickier for other websites.
