    I have both Amazon fire TV as well this now. The only reason I purchased this was mirroring from my iPhone or my laptop to the TV. So, I am not limiting myself or bothered by installing various apps, whenver i am watching some games not available on fire TV apps. Also, the quality and speed is awesome. Also, I felt WiFi reception is improved from last year model somehow.

    I love the chromecast, the ability to play off your phone off the TV is genius. Especially since you want to see videos and photos on the big screen. Plus watch Netlfix, youtube and play your music. Great quality and so far no trouble.

    The only advantage to this version of the Chromecast is the 5Ghz wireless capability, which inherently can transfer wirelessly at faster rates than 2.4Ghz range. This was a future-proof purchase for the inevitable 4k videos soon to be more widely available via movie and tv show web applications.

    I bought this when our smart tv wouldn't load Hulu. Now I use it to stream all of our Netflix, and other compatible apps because the browsing experience is so much better from my phone. This isn't compatible with Amazon Video, but you can use any computer or tablet with the Chrome browser and Chromecast extension to mirror any webpage. It is worth the $35 I spent on this.

    Plug it in, a couple of minutes of setup, and it's ready to use. Any app that has built-in support for Chromecast (I've used Hulu & YouTube so far) will stream directly to the TV. It will even turn the TV on and change input for you. Awesome!
