Son was Thrilled with the Gift

I wanted to purchase one for my son. I didn't recognize the device at first because it was so fundamentally different. That said, my tech savvy son say he loves this item and uses it all the time. He especially love being able to cast his tablet screen onto the TV. Great gift.

Better than previous model

If you didn't have enough clearance or it was bumped, like mine was, it broke. This model with its flexible connector is much nicer. They must have received a number of complaints to make them rethink the design. Glad they did. Its a really neat device that works well.

But, otherwise, it is very functional. You do have to use a phone or PC with the device for the most part. I compared it to the Roku and Apple TV, & I feel it's a superior product for the money. However, the Roku and Apple TV are stand-alone devices. This one requires a cell phone or PC in order to communicate the service provider, like Netflix, etc
