This device is a glorified streaming bridge between the user the TV. This device could probably be more than a streaming device but so far that’s all that I have been able to find with this device.

I had the old one and in my opinion, it works just the same. I use it for streaming movies from my Samsung tablet with Hulu/Netflix. As far as us By the Cast Screen option, it's no different than the original model.

This unit is definitely better than its predecessor! The wireless is faster and the apps for Chromecast's have only grown. I use it to watch Netflix, Starz, and even YouTube playlist in the school's weight room.

I already owned a couple of the older decided but need to get a new one to start streaming the higher 4k movies from my GoPro and other 4k content, the processor in this model is faster but leaps and bounds from the older generation, and it's more responsive, boots faster and somehow produces a better picture, I'm waiting for it to go on sale again so I can replace my older ones, one thing I wish that it came in different colors but black is the only one available

With all the ways to connect via Smart TV, Tivo, Apple TV, and Hulu, Netflix, and Amazon, the need for simplicity has never been more important. Chromecast is both simple and cheap and fairly darn dependable. I actually got mine because with Tivo I can't order UFC fights, even though I have a UFC Fight pass membership. Enter Chromecast - it can handle UFC PPV events, as well as netflix, video streams from Team Beach Body workouts, etc. For the money, you can't go wrong.

Needed to 'mirror' phone to TV and this caster seemed to work as intended. I did not know that this is a powered device, however, which makes it somewhat cumbersome to use with wall-mounted TV's. My usage of the device needs to expand to post a more qualitative review.

I have used Chromecast since the first gen version but I purchased this for my dad so he can stream Netflix on his television. Setup was a breeze and consisted of plugging the unit into the TV HDMI/USB, going to a website to activate and typing in my Wifi password. I installed the Chromecast extension to his Chrome browser and just like that he can use it. He isn't very tech savy so having an extremely simple solution was important and this fits the bill. Highly recommended!

I tried the older chromecast in the past and this is a nice upgrade. Although the main upgrade is the phone app and the way it looks, it is still an excellent product and affordable compared to the competitors.

Works like a charm. Works with all devices, be cellphone or a laptop, best and cheapest casting dongle out their!!

We have one of these on every TV and very easy to use. Also very inexpensive compared to what cable costs.

Little dongle works to let the Google Home talk to the TV, if the TV is turned on and using the right input, and if the Google Home understands what we are asking for. Also (more usefully) it allows us to stream content from phones to the TV. Since the TV itself had a very limited suite of apps, this function is extremely useful. It had zero problem connecting the TV to the devices in our home, even the one iphone in our mostly-android household.

Easily extend your Google home to an incompatible TV and/or turn a dumb TV into a smart TV. Anyone can set it up.

Easy to use and set up, does exactly as it is designed to do, and is inexpensive. Just wish it had an actual remote.

This product was good before but it is fantastic with the Google Home Mini. Also it is MUCH faster and better quality than the previous generation.

I guess I didn't pay that much attention on the use for this product before purchasing. It is only used for casting to the TV from other devices. Its a neat idea, but there are better products out there that are similar in pricing but can do more.

what can I say? it casts chrome windows and other stuff from a compatible device to a tv. it was easy to hook up too

Fantastic device for streaming if you don't have a smart tv. Price is affordable and works for everything I need.

We had the original and experienced slow loading and buffering problems but this new model solved our problems! Very pleased with it! It's just too bad Google & Amazon can't get along and play well together!
