I am a big Roku fan and I have three of those devices in my house and are my primary viewing choice. There are a few things that it doesn't do well and casting from another device tops the list. The Chromecast excels in that department. We were taking a trip and I wanted something portable to use in the place we were staying, so I used that as an excuse and purchased a Chromecast. I still prefer the Roku's search capabilities, but it is nice to be able to cast anything from our phones or Chromebooks to the TV.

Works good and set up was fast and easy. Must use smartphone or computer to access program options. I missed using a regular remote.

It took about 10 minutes to setup (not including the firmware update). Please be aware that you'll need your smartphone to control it, but otherwise it is a really handy device.

Reviews indicate that Chromcast isn't as reliable, but this one seems to work all right on my LG TV, and apps on a Note 5 phone. It was easy to install, and I installed a lot of apps that it works with on my phone. I've used it a few times, and it actually seems to work better than the expensive blu-ray player I installed on another TV. A little buffering, but so far, not bad. I gave it 4 stars rather than 5 because I don't know if it's in the excellent category since I haven't used it enough. But, so far, it's pretty good.

Very easy to cast content from Chrome browser tab or from my phone. Setup was super easy too.

The chromecast is awesome and absolutely does what I need it to do. It is a little difficult to get your laptop to stream movies, from websites, to your tv; but other than that it's awesome if you have Hulu, Netflix, and HBO Go. The HD is really nice and clear, and it hasn't ever had to stop and load a movie or episode after it started playing. The coolest feature it that you can throw a movie up onto your tv really quick and then close out of that movie on your phone and it will continue to play on your tv.

This is the second Chromecast we've purchased-- one for the bedroom TV and one for the living room. We had to return a Roku because the Roku would not communicate with our home WiFi without a $25 visit from the phone company. (Even a call to Roku customer support couldn't fix it. I returned the first Roku for the Chromecast, and have been happy enough that we got a second one. The Chromecasts have been easy to set up, and the picture is adequate, though the sound is sometimes glitchy.

I wish Google and Amazon would stop fighting so I could get prime on this. Otherwise, nearly perfect. Great upgrade from the previous Chromecast. Worth the small amount of money.

I bought this so that I can stream from an older iPad. For the most part, it works well and is easy to use. However, I've noticed that sometimes the device fails to "wake up" when I switch the input on the television to another HDMI port and then turn off the television. I will need to unplug and re-plug the power to the device for it to start working again. Not sure if it's the television (it's an older television) or device, but it's not that big of a deal for me to unplug.

I purchased this product because I felt that my smart TV (samsung) wasn't very good at doing it's job with the built in apps, like Netflix. I use the Chromecast everyday. It's easier than the built in apps on my TV, and I can control it from my phone. It walks you through set up, and it couldn't be easier to use. Note: I am an Android user, so I don't know how well, or if it will even play with iPhone at all.

This is an great buy for an media steaming device for your tv. This product is an amazing device.

I have a chromecast on all my tv's except one like ease of use, clear pictures and easy setup.

I am so glad to have You Tube back for television viewing, like I said, Samsung dropped it. We like several things on You Tube (such as cooking, sermons, "how tos" on skiing--golf--watercolor--and Claire and the Crosbys!) Sometime we will explore the other features. For now, I am so glad that it is easy to use, and know ahead that you have to get an app and work with the instructions a bit.

This version of the Chromecast is a great improvement over the first installment. It has better range in Wi-Fi and can also stream full 1080p video and supports surround sound.
