    The chromecast is a cheap alternative to the appletv however you it requires smart phone/ipad/computer to control it. it is apple compatible. the one thing i dont like about it is if you are casting your media contents via your phone and you switch to a different app, you can no longer control the movie content and would have to reload the google chrome cast app and start over. this doesnt seem to be an issue if you are casting it from an ipad. for some reason the chromecast interface is better on the ipad than the iphone.
