chromecast has changed our tv watching experience.

Great for when there's nothing good on cable TV!!!

It won't just "play" videos from one machine to another... If you have an AVI, for instance, on machine X, you cannot merely "cast" it to the ChromeCast. If you can't open it in Google Chrome (and PLAY it natively in there) then this won't do it either. That means that playing "local content" likely never will be a reality. It plays youtube stuff, it plays netflix, and HuluPlus. ONLY after major media developers have finalized their offering will the development kit be "published" meaning that the limited offerings of Netflix and Hulu are all you are likely to see before a new product comes out replacing this.

This was a gift for my son-in-law and he loves it.

Can be used as a novice or a technology "geek"! !!

Probably wireless speed was cause of poor You tube

Chromecast needs further development before it rates more stars. Initial use with iPad was disappointing, but I expect it to improve, and the price is right, so hopefully it will become a very useful casting device.

I was disappointed that it connects only the youtube and Netflix from my ipad and iphone. Other websites could not connect. it does not mirror the screen like in a wired (HDMI) connection. That was a big let down.

I bought this because of the urging of a friend. It is not what I expected. It disconnects itself from the network daily. It's not a favorite item in our house.

Netflix and YouTube to your TV hopefully more to come. The advantage is that it is wireless. Yes you can connect it with an HDMI which I've done before but it's more convenient to use my laptop while on the coach.

Returned device.... Salesman did not tell me that you have to stream all content to the Google Chrome from another device. Was wanting a device that does not require streaming through another device.

I ordered the Chromecast directly from Google originally, but they sent it to Hawaii via USPS ground which meant it travelled by truck and SHIP to Hawaii and took over a month. The Best Buy order was super fast--got it in just 3 days via USPS first class mail, BUT, we could not get it to cast the Netflix to out new tv. We have Apple TV and that works great, so this will be returned. Overall, the Google Chromecast Customer Service was the worst customer service of my 53 year old life.

I was expecting to plug into my tv, sync my laptop and go. That's not what this was about. The setup through the first few steps were simple enough, then I was directed to download something onto my computer that wanted access to all kinds of info... and the reviews for THAT were poor, at best. Smh, totally uninterested.

It has the potential to be great, but it is limited to the apps it works with. It only works with Netflix, and YouTube. It needs to work with HBOGO, StarzGo, etc.

I had to return the product to Bestbuy as it did not work. it couldn't connect to my router. I don't believe it was an issue with the router as I am easily able to wirelessly connect my Blu Ray player.

Unfortunately I returned it back to Best Buy it wasn't what I was looking for I ended up with the Roku 3 I wanted something that didn't stream on a separate device. I'm sure for traveling it would be ideal.

Google need to add Chromecast compatibility to the Chrome browser on Android tablets and phones. In order words, you can "cast" from your Chrome browser on your PC (or Mac) but NOT from your mobile device.

I have a PS3, 360, iPad 4, Apple TV, and the new Nexus 7. If you have any of these devices or a Roku then you don't need a Chromecast. All if can do is play YouTube on Netflix but most devices already do that and can connect to a TV with an HDMI cable including a laptop. The Apple TV and Roku are more expensive but they access way more content than the Chromecast. The media hyped up these devices but the reality is they are limited and don't do anything other devices on the market already do. I want to use mine on the road in hotels but without a web browser they can't connect to WiFi.
