I tried to connect to my Samsung TV. Took a long time to set up and works intermittently. It also streams very slow. Do not know if this has to do with my computer. Initially bought 2. Ended return the other one.

Not serving the purpose of chrome mirroring on TV

I bought this product to see if I can mirror my chrome browser on my Samsung Smart TV. But not much luck. Needs a lot of bandwidth and video quality is not great at all. Only positive thing is, it works best for YouTube videos.

Product is very limited. You can only stream video from certain apps or programs on your computer if you do not have a mobile device. Hopefully that will change for 35$ still on of the cheapest ways to get netflix on your TV.

I wanted to watch other programs than just whatever is included in "You Tube". If I type in "You Tube" i.e. Fox News I get connected to FN but the transmission is bad (sound and picture). And rather complicated to download.

The streaming on the chomrecast is really subpar. I get better streaming from my PS3 and xBox. I was trying to watch breaking bad through netflix and it couldn't even stream in HD. I would reccommend going Apple TV or Roku.

Google has promised since the summer that a software update to allow you to mirror whatever is on your iPad screen and display it on your HDTV screen was coming. Months and months later--nothing. I returned the item.

We purchased this to use as a replacement one of our Rokus and couldn't connect it to the internet. Apparently, our Wifi router isn't supported, and the list of supported routers is very limited. Be sure to check if yours is supported before purchasing this. Chromecast Supported Routers list: https://support.google.com/chromecast/table/3477832?hl=en

Haven't been able to get the chromecast to work

I've spent many hours trying to get my chromecast to work. Phone calls to google, about a dozen emails back and forth between tech support, and no one has any idea how to fix the problem. Tech support keeps offering the same five suggestions. I'm reasonably competent with computers, and have tried everything they've suggested and then some. I've got a modern router, a modern TV, and it makes no sense that a new device from google would get this poor of support. I feel like a beta tester! I do recognize that the product works well for some people, but I also know I am not the only one who has had this problem.

Doesn't work with any of my 4 roommates's computers (mac & PC) & 3 iphones. Only works intermittently with one ipad, and even then shuts off mid-episode or mid-movie.

What a total waste of money and HDMI port.

Netfix? Who needs another Netflix device. I have a WII, a Blueray player a couple of computers and a tablet for Netflix. I was hoping for a bit more than Netflix. The main function I was interested in was watching video from my phone on the big screen. Well, Google in their infinite wisdom blocks video. I can view other parts of the screen but video is blocked. So I thought I'd at least be able to stick it on the bedroom TV to watch baseball on MLB.com but it won't work for that either. The only use I can find for it is as a dust cover to keep debris out of an unused HDMI port. Don't waste your money.

The quality is not as good as I expected, but it works fine enough... There is an option for high resolution, but if chosen the sound and picture do not match and the streaming blacks out and gets pixelated.

It takes a lot of wireless bandwidth to stream to your computer or device and then stream to the Chromecast. I would spend the extra money on an Apple TV as it has many more features and uses less bandwidth.

Simple, elegant way to stream video to TV

When you receive the product it includes an HDMI extender cable as well as a micro USB cable and adaptor for power which is needed if your HDMI port is not v1.4. If so then you do not need an external power source. Setup is simple. You can do it from the Android or Windows app or from any device that has the Chrome Web browser. I used Chrome on my iPhone to configure it. It quickly found my wifi network, prompted me for my password and was ready to start receiving video. I pulled up Netflix, clicked play on a Doctor Who episode and it asked me if I wanted to watch it on my phone or on the Chromecast. After a couple seconds the TV started playing the episode. I was able to control the volume and play functionality from my phone. The really great thing about Chromecast is how simple it is to use. If a friend of mine is over and wants to show me a video, as long as they have Chrome or an app that supports casting on their phone then they can send the video straight to the TV for viewing. The biggest drawback is that there is not currently, that I am aware of, an app for IOS that allows you to stream local content. You can only stream content from Youtube, Netflix, etc. I understand there are such apps for Android and I imagine there will soon be one coming for IOS.

Thing requires an AC adapter to be plugged in to the wall to work? c'mon - at least use USB to be a little more convenient. My sister, definitely NOT computer illiterate, was unable to get this to work as advertised with her Galaxy phone or her Kindle Fire. Couldn't "throw" browser windows, even with Chrome browser installed. Couldn't do anything more than what every smart TV on the market already offers. I got it for her so she could show her phone's content on her TV as her son likes to watch videos, etc on her phone so much. Was a total bust. Do not recommend.
