Great price but had several problems installing it. Also had limited apps. Returned it

Due to the lack of available HDMI inputs on my amplifier I was forced to use the tv sound. Not good for what I have to work with and its limited on what can be viewed.

I was not happy that you can only use 2 programs. I thought it could do so much more. Maybe in 2 years it will have more uses.

Not quite as good as we thought it would be. Device needs to be close to wireless. Broadcast quality limited and sometimes delayed. We've started using computer again.

it worked great for the first couple of weeks now it just buffers when i try to watch videos from my computer to my tv

When this device gets up to speed and will at minimum let me use my own video/pictures, it will be more useful. I don't use Netflix and rarely watch youtube so.....

If you own an ipad, this device only works for YouTube and Netflix. Very limiting.

Not having a remote control is a huge drawback. Spouse hated that she had to use her phone. Not an easy thing when you try to keep phones out of the bedroom.

I would never buy this again,movies stop to load about every 5- 10 minutes!One movie stopped 5 times before 7 minutes into the movie,just gave up watching!

Has no remote. must program with a laptop, smartphone, etc limited programs and apps available.would not recommend.

Could not get product to connect to my home network. Have an older Airport Extreme and spent an evening trying different things to get this to work but no success. It is probably a decent product once it is connected but with two laptops, an iPad, two phones, and a wifi BluRay player all able to connect to my home network I expected this product to work as well. YMMV

Pros: 1. Relatively inexpensive ($35) compared to other options (Roku, Apple TV,...) 2. Easy to setup (takes only 5 min) 3. Can control using multiple devices (smartphone, PC, tablet) on multiple platforms (iOS, Android, Windows) 4. Can stream anything on the Chrome browser (duplicating what's on screen) 5. Can cue up multiple play items 6. Doesn't consume battery on the smartphone (initiate streaming and move on to do other things or even put the phone in suspension mode 7. 3rd party apps will continue to make this device more useful and will eventually allow streaming of anything on the PC or phone to the TV 8. Tiny footprint that can easily hide away in the back of TV (if the TV has a USB port, then the device can be powered by a USB cable without a power supply connected to the wall outlet) 9. Can connect it to an audio device/receiver and stream Spotify or Pandora continuously without turning on the TV- this is a very good feature! 10. No additional service fee or subscription fee other than services that you choose to pay for (such as Netflix or Google Play) Cons: 1. Doesn't support any local storage media directly (you can connect the storage media to your PC/laptop or smartphone and stream from there if necessary, though) 2. No remote controller (you can use your PC/smartphone as a remote, though) 3. ... can't think of any more cons!

much more difficult to set up and use to cast from computer to big screen. Great idea poor execution. Better off to just use a good old fashioned cable.

I got this primarily to use as a substitute for HDMI/ XVGA cable to connect my laptop to my tv for streaming videos (not youtube). There is a lag for buffering which makes watching videos not fun at all. The picture stutters and does not refresh as fast as on the laptop. Both the chromecast and laptop must be used with the same wifi connection, and does not allow using signal booster or connecting the computer using LAN cable. I think it needs to be developed more.

Everything I read about Chromecast made it seem that you could plug this thing into your TV and be able to enjoy streaming TV. I found out that you need a computer to be on while you are steaming your program and that your internet explorer must be Google Chrome. Instead of this gizmo, I run an HDMI cable from my computer to my tv and experience the same results, or I can take my lap top to bed and watch it that way. I'll get a smart tv or smart BluRay instead.

Purchased because I had heard that it would eliminate some of my satellite bill; it didn't, it couldn't. First of all, unless you purchase various applications (Hulu, Netflix) you won't be able to see much for "free". I do have a Neflix account, and I was able to access this, but I figured that I could watch Netflix on my computer or my tablet. I returned it! However, that's not to say that it may not work for someone else. It just was not what I was expecting.

so so device. had high hopes for it. however, it constantly drops internet connection. even when connection is excellent. great when it works though.

It's cheap but lacks the polished interface of the Apple TV and you can't use it by itself. Must have computer or phone going to start content playing.

only useful to watch netflix and YouTube primarily, cant stream own videos, photos. webpage stream is very slow even on very fast internet connection

google needs to offer more services with this device. They should make it easy for an Android device to be able to use the TV as a mirroring device.
