This product is great for the items it can currently do. Streaming Netflix is solid as well as the Youtube app. Google released an SDK to allow apps to become compatibile and they are touting that this only requires about 20 lines of code. Hopefully more app providers will start including this functionality. The setup is easy and I love that I have so many devices that I can pick up and start using with Chromecast. Definately a purchase with the future in mind and I think that Google is on the right path with the price and method of content delivery.

I tried to get this to work and even with internet trouble shooting never worked. Don't waste your time or money. No help or instructions on this product.

not very easy to get it to work ans stay working. will be bringing it back asap. tried loading the software many times but it hangs up and won;t respond.

The Google Chromecast (HDMI connection required to an HDTV television) is a great low cost option to get internet television (like Hulu Plus, Netflix, etc). beamed to the HDTV via your home Wifi/internet connection. Normally the retail is $35 but we picked one up on sale at Best Buy. If your HDTV has its HDMI ports already full (as your cable/satellite box takes one and your Blu-Ray player takes another and most game consoles also need an HDMI connection) you can purchase a low cost HDMI switch (I recently purchased a 5 port HDMI switch and had an earlier one that was a 3 port HDMI switch) that allows you to connect more devices in one of your existing HDMI ports.

This is a great idea but just did not work in real world. After quizzing the best buy salesman for some time and being assured it would work I but one of these. I travel a lot for business and end up watching a lot of netflix on the Ipad. He told me this would allow me to transfer the tv shows to the TV in the hotel room. When I ended up returning this because it did not work the person that helped me said there is no way that was going to work and I should not have been told otherwise. I also while I had it tried to make the best of it and gave it to a friend to try with her Kindle Fire and that was just as disastrous. But that is amazon's fault for locking down the Kindle the way they do. If I did not have a Smart-TV I would definitely get one of these but if you have a Smart-TV this is redundant.

What a steal at the price point Google has set. Streaming content works great. Steaming from devices works incredibly well (Note 3; S3; Nexus 7 2013). Couldn't be happier with the purchase. With Google continuing to add apps...the device continues to grow and become even more of a value compared to other like devices at higher price points.

I returned this device because it only works with youtube. If this device had more support to stream my home media library it would be great.

No lag in the audio / video on my PC, but through the Chromecast it is unwatchable on the TV. The video is lagging a lot from the PC to the TV.

Does what a smart tv or bluray player does. Save your money. Would not recommend to a friend. Almost embarrased to have given it to a friend.

Maybe I wasn't doing something right but I tried various times and I couldn't get beyond the first window. I brought it back to the store.

Was looking for away to watch my computer on TV All this does is enable you to watch a couple select subscription channels like HuluPlus

I use my chromecast every day. It's the most simple thing to do. I love that anyone can chime in and stream whatever Pandora song or Youtube video they would like. Me and my friends hang out and will take turns streaming things. Very easy to set up very easy to use, very affordable. Works GREAT with my iPhone and Nexus 7 tablet!

Did not like the fact that you needed a mobile device to operate the chromecast. I returned this device.

I have spent hours trying to get this item to work without any success other than it says it is connnected to the wifi at my house.

Does not play well with Mac yet. Gets a bit warm and lots of setup issues. Still not as small as it needs to be to fit behind a monitor

It doesn't work right, and it's a pain to set up. You're better off spending more money and getting an Apple TV or Amazon Fire TV.

Doesn't work as advertsied. Go with roku for better value

Chrome cast is a great device. I have at home smart TV, smart blueray player, XBox1, Roku stick. They are all capable of streaming videos. Chrome cast is the smallest one, which makes it really easy to take with you when you are on the road. But device has its limitations: 1. Some hotels require WiFi login through a web site. This makes chrome cast unusable, because you won't be able to set it up on a such WiFi network. 2. Does not support mirror cast. That means you won't be able to show whatever is on your screen (like a PowerPoint presentation) on TV or projector. The streaming content is limited to the supported apps and chrome cast browser. Would be A perfect feature for business meetings. Roku stick does support mirror cast (in Beta), which makes it more valuable. 3. Does not happen much. But chrome cast crashes sometimes. 4. Long boot time. Roku stick is also pretty slow at booting up though.

Can't go wrong for the price. Seriously, it's the cost of one dinner out and your TV is suddenly a Smart TV. I personally like Apple TV much better, but that's also $100. I haven't tried Roku, but hear that's great too. But for this price, give it a try, it's really cool, especially if you use android devices.

Chromecast is easy to set up and use. Can stream from your Chrome browser on your PC, from your tablet (Android 4.4+ supports Screen mirroring), or phone to any Chromecast-enabled TV on the same WiFi network. Price is also great. Only con is waiting for more Apps to directly support it. But if you are on Android 4.4+ you can just Cast screen.
