Picked this up right after the Google announcement in my local store and have been loving it. I've been wanting an easy way to stream content from my phone or tablet and this is perfect. Fairly easy to set up, easy to control with any device - seamless operation from device to tv and back.. For the price, there is no better alternative. Not compatible with Windows Phone, as expected, and probably never will be - any other platform is fine.

So you heard the hype about this product from friends. Mixed reviews? well that depends on what phone/tablet they are using it with. For an avid android user, it's pretty slick and awesome. I mean I can project my phone screen to my TV and be able to show you what i'm doing in landscape to portrait. Great for demoing apps/games or hell if you wanna have a party and have your friends go through Tinder over booze is actually a pretty good time. (for those that don't know tinder yeah this product might not be for you) If you got an IOS device, it's probably not that useful. Yes you can toss YouTube content and HBOgo etc. These are things that any smart TV or even a Amazon firestick or PS3 can do. So for what it's worth, I'd say it's great for students or people that don't have a smart TV. Tech junkies with the need to display their android phone screen is also cool.

Google Chromecast is a great invention. You can put your laptop screen on your TV screen. Movies that you downloaded and music you want to listen right on your TV. Easy installation. The price is right. Normally $35 but I purchased on Black Friday for $23.99. Everyone with a laptop should own one.

Would not connect with my wifi. Tried for three days. Even spent an hour on phone with Google. What a disappointment.

With a slim mounted TV on the wall, I had trouble at first sticking the jack in since it jutted straight out the back. The USB charger adapter that would fit on the end of the power cable can also be used as an extra, flexible inch extender if flipped around and plugged between the Cromecast and the HDMI input. Fits perfectly, now! As someone who watches a lot of Video Game streaming, I thought this device would be perfect for my bedroom TV that lacks a cable box. I was disappointed at first when I couldn't find the Twitch.TV app as a compatible extension to the plugin, but was overjoyed when I found the Computertab-to-tv feature works like a charm. I look forward to when other apps start to become available and compatible, hopefully if things get popular; such as the optimum app to stream the dashboard right to the TV. Steam games as well could be a huge market just waiting to be cracked; the experimental 'Cast whole Desktop/display' feature had great synergy with Big Picture mode perfectly. I suspect as the technical backdrop of local Computer-to-device gets optimized and the lag drops it would be perfect to playing games on the big screen. At the moment, there's about a 2 to 1 second delay on average and makes it otherwise hard to do anything other then simple puzzles. A big bonus to the ability to cast directly from your local files, and I look forward to seeing how the software and hardware improves. I got it for 25 marked down for 35; so that extra drop in price helped motivate me picking it out. Originally was just going into the store for a wall mount; Now I may consider getting a second for the main TV as well. Only my phone and laptop are compatible, sadly. Kindle Fire HD, from what I can find so far, is not supported. Just shy of that perfect five star.

This device can not be beat for the $30 price I paid! Very easy to setup, works flawlessly and the quality of HD video is outstanding! Could use more aps, but I am sure they will come soon.

This streamer is very nice with great performance. Not being able to stream my videos is the only reason I didn't move from apple to Android, chromecast fixes this is a vendor agnostic way. I'm able to stream Netflix google play movies, and YouTube videos natives, and I watch other videos through the chrome browser. At $35 this solves a lot of my issues. Totally beats spending for additional Apple TV and roku (both of which I own). I've had zero issues the device performs great. I've read some of the negative reviews but a 30 second video on how to use the device solves many problems. Apple developer site has been down for a week which is probably why iOS app isn't finished yet. Again learn the device and you will love it. Only down side is that I need 3 more and they are out of stock.

Sorry I wasted my money on this. My smart TV does nothing now it didn't do before before I bought the darn thing.

If it would terrific if I was able to set it up properly but there isn't enough instructions for me to follow.

This device is simple to setup, simply remove it from the box and find an empty HDMI port. Plug in the USB power and you are all set. The device walks you through the rest of the setup which is painless. I tried YouTube, Netflix, and Chrome Mirroring all with stellar results. If you are utilizing Chrome Mirroring, I would suggest you edit the Cast settings to high bit rate streaming to allow for better quality streams.

I bought this item thinking that I could steam locally from my PC to my TV. It is too restricted at this time.

Could not get it to work correctly. It cast a constantly slide show of google library picture and nothing else

Have next to router and still slow, spend the extra money for Apple tv

This product is amazing. It is super quick to set up and really easy to use. The best thing about it is the price. It is the cheapest best streaming device there is on the market.

I have had trouble with this device, no audio on TV. I have worked with Google support with no resolution.

Constantly stops casting. I would have been better off getting something else.

Was easy to set up. After that couldn't control it with the iPad. It just played until I unplugged it

Works very similarly to iOS "AirPlay" using Apple TV. However, this device works on different platforms and operating systems. It is smaller and simple to use on any HDTV with an HDMI port. Comes with an AC power wall outlet adapter and Micro USB cable or powered by a spare USB port on the TV itself. Some HDMI ports have limited clearance, but this device is short enough to fit in most cases. If not, it comes with a short HDMI M/F extender for more flexibility. This is an optional accessory, but essential in some cases. You'll be glad it was included. After the easy initial setup completed, it updated itself over the same WiFi connection. The $20 Google Play (for Android devices) promotion included at the current BB sale price of $29.99 is a great deal! I used it to watch very controversial, "The Interview" and saved six bucks renting the movie. The movie's sound and video quality was outstanding in HD (1080p) with no dropouts on a 6Mb/sec maximum download speed DSL WiFi Internet connection. Start/stop/pause/skip commands worked well from my Android tablet's Google "Play Movie" app. This device cannot do screen mirroring (like AirPlay), which is its only downside. Understandable at such a low price. It can "cast" certain content from a Chrome browser running on a phone, tablet, PC, Mac, etc. It supports Netflix, HBO Go, Crackle, and the like, but not Amazon Prime (also understandable because the latter is a direct competitor with its Fire TV Stick device). Bottom line, Chromecast is well worth it for big screen HDTV viewers with a passion for watching movies!

not the device i was looking for. changed it for an apple tv.

I'm still trying to connect it to my tv. Apple TV is better.
