Great Concept
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. For the money you can't beat this device. It can turn any TV in to a Smart TV. I mostly bought this on impulse and out of curiosity. I really don't need another device for Netflix or Hulu, I have the PS3 and PS4 for that but, I liked the idea of mirroring Google Chrome from any Computer (that has the muscle to handle it# to my TV; that way whatever is on my screen is replicated on my TV flawlessly #most of the time, this is still in beta, but if Google sticks with it this will be the killer app feature). For the 29.99 I paid I can say well worth it, plus now my wife can watch ABC Family on the big screen using the Chrome Mirror Feature. If you got the money and it is burning a hole in your pocket than you can’t go wrong, just keep in mind that it is still young and there are only a hand full of apps that work and that you will need a tablet, smart phone, or a Laptop or PC to get your content on the screen as they act as the remote for this device.

Great Little Device for Streaming
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Thanks to Google Chromecast, I am able to stream the digital content from Ultraviolet and Flixster (not available on Apple TV) onto my television set. There are tradeoffs between Apple TV and this device. Nonetheless, the devices complement each other quite well. The only limitations I am aware of right away are that 1. streaming Amazon and iTunes content are features not available, 2. Google Chromecast does not have a TV-based user interface, thus leaving the viewer having to use a tablet or smartphone as a remote, and 3. live streaming apps such as HBO NOW are not available. All in all, I am quite pleased with the device's capabilities. For $35, this is a fantastic buy. So I am not whining.

Awesome
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Awesome little device. A must have for anyone who needs a cheap solution for watching Netflix, Hulu, YouTube, and other apps on the big screen. Cheap, small, easy to use and setup. Control right from your phone or tablet. Best feature is that you can continue to use your device for other things while the Chromcast streams the video. Play, pause, right from the device. Now supports full screen mirroring on some devices! Anything on your device shows up on the screen. Love it.

Very Much Worth The Price
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Already an extremely satisfied Roku user, I only wanted this as a tool to allow me to cast my web activity onto my HDTV, This works beautifully. Not being tech-savvy, I was hoping for an easy hook-up and I certainly got it. Oh there were a couple of very minor stumbles initially, but far fewer than I anticipated. It features an absolutely lovely slideshow of constantly changing scenery when not in use that adds beauty to any decor. For program selection, I still prefer the Roku, but for my use of it - this Chromecast unit can't be beaten.

A must buy.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is Androids Apple TV. Yes there was ways to stream from an Android phone before to a device but nothing as good as this and as cheap. I have been an Apple TV user since the second gen and have nothing but great things to say about. Now my wife, stepson and me can now stream seamlessly from are android devices. Just out of the gate I think the chromecast is excellent , and with time it can only get better with more content. If you can find one get it.

Excellent TV Streaming Source that Goes Anywhere
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've had my Chromecast for about 6 months now, and love it. It has all the services I use (e.g. Netflix, HBO GO, YouTube) and am very happy with it's performance. Since it's only a dongle, it's easy to plug into basically any HDTV anywhere, whether at a friend's house, Hotel, or for presentations. I'm also a developer and appreciate the open API Google has provided that really no other streaming product has matched. You also can't beat the price.

It's cool so far
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was the 2nd person to buy one at Best Buy, I actually ordered it online the night before and was expecting a 3-4 delivery time. Was driving by Best Buy and remembered They were one of the ways to get it. Amazon was sold out, and Google Play was a long wait. SO I stopped in and asked a Magnolia rep about it and he said they just received them and they were in the back, I asked if I could get one and he brought it out to me. So I immediately cancelled my online order. I actually saved a few bucks too (6.00) . I brought it home and connected my IPhone, my wife;s Galaxy Phone, our IPAD,Galaxy Tablet, and Macbook to the Chromecast and Chrome browser. Works really good. It allows you to multitask, while connected to Netflix and watching a show, she received a call and it sept playing. She actually had to tell the caller to hold on so she can put Netflix on hold. Basically it's just like having a laptop and having a wireless printer it's connected to the network, takes a command and keeps going, your device becomes the remote. Even connected HBOGO through the Chromw browser. Amazon prime is weak. No volume on TV.

It's a great idea, but...
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Hooked this up to a 21" computer monitor and used Android as well as Google Chrome to cast to the device. Sometimes it worked, sometimes it didn't. Android seemed to work well although not all apps work with it. I wanted to use it to cast from the Dish Anywhere app but it isn't compatible. Google Chrome wouldn't cast to the device half the time as well. Screen would be blank on the Chromecast monitor while Google Chrome on the laptop that I was casting from was showing the video. Ultimately, I chose to return the product and try the Amazon Fire TV.

Great Netflix streamer!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.WOW this Chromcast is a breath of fresh air. The Androd phone app is fast, it starts up in just a few seconds, and skipping around only takes a second or 2 at most. This makes watching netflix so much more enjoyable. On the phone app I also like how the lock screen lets you access play/pause, 10 second replay, and stop. I have been using a 2 year old LG bluray player to watch Netflix, but the app on the LG was pretty lame. It would take 2 minutes to "warm up" and trying to skip forward or backward became something I would do rarely because it would take 20-30 seconds to rebuffer. I A/B-ed the Netflix picture between the Chromcast and the LG player and there is no doubt that the Chromecast is getting the full HD stream. With the $23.97 Netflix bonus (which I did get, and applied) it would be crazy not to get this even if only for a really nice Netflix experience.
