When used with an android phone/tablet, this basically lets you mirror anything on your phone/tablet to your tv. I'm using a rooted phone with Cyanogenmod 11 (kit kat 4.4.4) and I have yet to find anything that will not mirror to the Chromecast. My wife's iPhone 6 plus is a little more picky and if the particular app that your using doesn't allow you to cast it, you're just out of luck (I don't know if this is due to Apple or the app developer). But when casting with her phone the experience is pretty much the same as with Android. You really can't go wrong with how cheap these are if you're looking for a way to get your phone content on a bigger screen.

I purchased a wireless router and I received the Chrome for free. Honestly, I had heard about it before "but I wasn't sure what it really was". After I received the chrome I googled it to see what it does and I wa shocked. example. I have basic cable "I don't watch much tv" although from time to time there are a few movies I would like to watch on HBO. My brother has HBO with his Fios He allowed me to use his user name and password and I can stream HBO on my 50' TV straight from my Ipad using the HBOgo app and the chrome. I also watch some youtube videos etc. So like far I like the chrome. although, I didn't pay for it 35.00 is not a bad price for this gadget!

Cut that cable. Get this now if you have Netflix or Hulu.

Except some Audio lagging this is worth it. Easy to use.

Chromecast is awesome, cheap and easy to use. Youtube Videos right on TV episodes of shows Netflix anything you want. great deal.

Bought two on sale for the bedrooms and they work great. Set up was super easy, streaming of Netflix and Hulu Plus to TV is fast and picture is crisp and clear. Used our Galaxy S5 as controller and no problems so far.

I got the Chromecast to put streaming video from my Desktop and to mirror some desktop applications. From only 15 feet away streaming video starts dropping video frames and sound after about 10 minutes. My biggest issue is the big lag (1/2-1 second) between what I see on my computer monitor and what shows on the TV. Forget mirroring your desktop apps or games with a mouse or keyboard because you can't coordinate mouse movement with what you see on the TV. If you want to play games or use your big TV as a monitor, then I suggest you get a 25 foot HDMI cable. NOTE: Installing the Google Chromecast was pretty easy. It is not as easy to decide what apps to use with it because the app information is very sparse. Remember that most online video services like Netflix or HULU will require separate accounts. Be patient.

this is great. i have a vizio smart tv but i prefer controlling what i stream through chrome cast. no annoying remote and it runs through wifi so i can control it anywhere in my apartment. needs more app support though.

I had been mulling over the inevitable Roku/ Apple TV decision when this handy little gadget appeared out of nowhere. For $35 (not including the $24 worth of Netflix subscription that's going on at the moment), I figured it was worth the gamble. It paid off nicely. This tiny device streams content from my desktop's Chrome browser flawlessly, and my iPhone and iPad seem to have no issues starting Netflix. Since I can now "cast" my HBO Go to the TV even without an actual included app, I am quite satisfied. If I had more HD TV's I would buy one for each of them. Perfectly happy to sit and see what other apps become supported in the future.
