The Chromecast is a very versatile tool. It allows me to put tablet, phone, or computer video on a television easily. Can be slow at times even with a good Wifi connection, only on rare occasions. I have one connected to each TV.

Uses wifi network and needs power to stay connected. Limited apps but is great when they're used. Convenient to use cell phone as remote. Castscreen is limited to certain devices.

I have only used a few times to download and watch movies but it works pretty well. Takes some time to download from google play store and had a few interruptions but generally less than I have had with Netflix. Set up was easy.

We got one so we could cast shows and songs from our phones that we liked and our toddler liked. It was so great to have this easy quick wireless hookup that we hated moving it to our room at night and back down to the living room during the day. We bought a 2nd one!

I bought this day one at my local bestbuy (WestLand), I had the TV guy so confused but he eventally fond out that they were still in the back. They had 10 at 7:30 night off release. I should of bought all 10 at that time for re-sale. The funny part is the TV guy at bestbuy said to me,"you think there is more demand for this then there is". Turns out he was flat out wrong as you cannot find the Chromecast any where now besides ebay at double the price... Also, FYI for Ethernet wired computers, just download the chromecast extension on Google chrome after setting up the chromecast with a WiFi device. Then you can mirror your chrome browser to your TV without a WiFi connected computer!

the chromecast does exactly what I need which is stream media from my plex server. The added option of Netflix Hulu Plus in HBO Go make this a versatile product for me. however if you do use such applications as Amazon Instant you will find the product to be lacking but this could change in the near future. Set up is easy even if your TV doesn't have a 5 volt USB port a power adapters included. Downloading the application on to your Android or iOS device makes set up a breeze. The chromecast is a basic streaming device but if all you want is streaming and it covers your bases and for the price you can't beat it.

Set up instruction needs to be elaborated little bit so that the user may not unnecessarily struggle. Once you set it up and u get chrome icon on your device, you can simply have fun streaming anything from YT/NF etc.., Quality I felt was outstanding.. great device.. all together..that too.. with this reasonalble cost.. a real value for Money..! Go ahead..

This is a great device. I had several reasons for trying out this device. First, it is multip-platform. I am mostly Apple, but wanted to be able to use other devices, especially if in the boardroom or in classes. The Chromecast worked well. Secondly, I wanted to see how I could use it for the classroom and wireless presentations. Because I use Google Apps, this was an excellent investment. Not only can I project wirelessly, but anything that is presented in the Chrome browser will play. This makes it a great resource for teachers. All in all, the Chromecast is a great value and I would highly recommend.

I have read a great deal about Chromecast ever since Google announced it. It sounded like a great device, at least on paper. When Best Buy suddenly had it in stock again the other day, I ordered two units so I can use them in different rooms. I finally received my units today and after 15 minutes of testing, they were placed right back into their boxes ready to be returned. The best word to describe the Chromecast would be disappointment. However, I will list the good things first. It was EXTREMELY easy to set up and use. Unfortunately that's where the problems began. The only useable feature would be Netflix streaming. It always takes about 3-5 seconds before a new stream becomes HD but it's smooth and steady. When streaming from YouTube or local files, the videos become out of sync quickly and depending on the file format, some files' audio can't even be played. The main reason I bought Chromecast was to replace my WD TV Live, but as of right now, WD TV Live still provides a much better experience than Chromecast. I can see in the future when Google can improve the Chromecast and it will be better, but until then, it's not worth buying. 802.11ac was released a while back, yet Chromecast doesn't even support 802.11n (5GHz).

streaming movies/you tube without connecting to your computer all the time. works flawlessly

This is a great device, small and discreet and very easy to set up. It will get better in time once more applications are compatible.

Setup could not be easier. Device sits discretely out of the way. Lots of support from apps to stream all kinds of media from my phone to the TV. Awesome Price!!

I bought this as a graduation gift for a friend. They really enjoy it and use it everyday. I was surprised by all the features that it has now since I last looked into them. I think I might get one for myself.

great hdmi plug and play device that works with my laptop or GS4 and streams flawlessly to the TV. can't beat the price, its ideal

This device is very easy to set up. After a little confusion on my part I was able to get it running in about ten minutes. Unfortunately, after using it for fifteen minutes, the novelty wore off after I came to the realization that this device has very limited capabilities. Just about the only two apps available are You Tube and Netflix- big deal! I can get Netflix through my PlayStation and YouTube on my laptop. I was hoping to stream Picassa albums to the TV through the device but you can't do it! You have to upload the albums to the web and then stream to Chromecast - You can't stream Picassa photos directly from Picassa- How dumb is that? Hopefully the folks at Google will come up with many more ups pronto!

There are many streaming sticks, but with the amount of android phones and tablets out there, this one seems to have the widest suppert. My friends can come over look up their video and cast it to my TV. it is small and portable i just need to pocket it and take it to my parents' place during my vacation and voila, i have netflix. I don't even need to bring the cable because it uses industry standard microusb, which every household has at least one spare (even some of my iphone friends have these cables from old blackberries, gps, bluetooh earpieces, etc, go industry standard!!)

I drove 40 miles away from my home on Thursday because i was able to track down one unit that was available. After setting it up (which only took 5 minutes), i was just amazed at how good the device was. It allowed my 65" hd plasma to stream YouTube /Netflix /Google Video & Music in 1080p 5.1 surround. It even mirrors what you do on a Chromecast enabled browser (just imagine the possibilities...). For $35 and 3 FREE months of Netflix, it's a no brainer. Now I'm hoping to get a second device for the woman when they are back in stock.

This little thing is AWESOME, I've got one for every TV in the house. Once developers can post their apps, this is going to be that much better. Streaming local content, online content etc. Here's to hoping Google releases the full SDK soon, then developers can post their work for all of us to enjoy!

We bought chromecast to stream Netflix from our PC. In that I am disappointed. Slow to load, more buffering, and sometimes an irritating pulsating picture on screen. Netflix runs much better through our Wi-Fi Blu-ray player. However, chromecast has been convenient to show our pictures & video on the TV without wires, and we can take it with us to watch Netflix through our smartphone elsewhere.(hotel, parents house, etc..) Very quick and easy to set up. Up and running within minutes.

This little device is fantastic, beats running my computer and watching netflix when I go to sleep. My roommate fell in love with it, he was already controlling it before I got back to my chair. once its setup *witch takes no time at all* switching from device to device is a snap. As long as your computer, phone, tablet is on the same network. it picks up on it and switches to what ever you are playing. I can't wait to see what other apps are going to be released for this little guy!
