OK product
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Since I got movies covered with other devices I am most interested in getting my photos from my Droid Maxx onto the screen. No such luck.... Doesn't work for what one might think would be the most basic of functions.

Good for the cost
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The product is good for the cost. However, the quality of the product depends on your wireless connection. My TV is right next to the wireless router and the connection is still not that great. There is sometimes and audio and video delay which can be frustrating.

Chromecast Set Up is the Worst
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The hype is that Chromecast is an easy set up. Plug it in, download the app and you're good to go. I tried from my Adroid tablet and wound up in an endless loop on the set up page...from Google Play to my Google account , back to the set up without any capability to download the app. Next I tried my Windows 7 laptop- Stick is plugged into HDMI, powered up and ready to go. Down the app, it connects to my WiFi router, goes into a coma, then says it can't connect to the Chromecast. Two hours wasted! One of these days I suppose I'll get to use it but not today.

Useless
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. When I got the chromecast I was so sure about Google doing a complete useful smartphone kind product that I didnt look online for information My first reason to buy this was to turn my Tv intro a browser to surf the internet . Which is not supported But lets not talk about what it does not ... easy to said what it does it support to play youtube videos from your Pc or mobile .. HBO To Go Pandora HUlu Netflix and a couple more app which nobody cares yes I know it is only $35 but I would rather to pay $99 for an useful product than $35 for something which does the same than my smart Tv .. End ... this little nothing is going back to the store tomorrow ...Will See you after an improvement Google Chromecast

OK for laptops, not as good with tablet
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had to buy a WiFi network extender to get the product to work. It works fine from my laptop, casting from Chrome web pages as well as from YouTube, etc. However, when I tried to cast a web page from Chrome on my Samsung tablet it would not work. A call to Google told me that Chromecast will not cast a web page from a tablet. It will cast from You Tube from my tablet. The call to Google was answered quickly.

Works like advertised
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Saves the battery when watching a movie as the phone just sends it to it and it plays it. Does not affect the phone so you can use other aps our games. Very useful.when playing it does not take up much bandwidth. For the cost you can't go wrong just make sure your tv has hdmi ports for it to plug into.

Nothing New, Nothing useful
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This device is virtually useless. It will only play Netflix or Youtube well. All other casting requires large amounts of resources which only newer dual or quad core laptops, and decent gpu's are capable of. It does a very poor job of playback of internet videos. It is basically another set top box with almost no functionality. My xbox does a much better job of most of these things. And control of the device will always be dependent on a laptop or phone. I would only buy this as a way to stream Netflix or Youtube and I will be returning it. I simply have no use for it.

Great Product Amazing Job Google
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a great way to stream content to your TV even if your TV is a dumb tv and not a smart TV. The fact that it is only $35 is awesome, considering that a similar product would cost you around $200. I would recommend this to anyone.

The most useful piece of content consuming tech!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My youtube usage has gone through the roof thanks to playlists and this baby! Sending Netflix and even PocketCasts (Android podcast app) has made it so much easier to cut the cord and remain cable-tv-less for the past 6 years (I've only had the chromecast for about a year mind you)

Great Streaming Device
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This device is super easy to setup. Good for the price but could use a better interface and app system. A streaming device is better but for the price you can't go wrong with this.

Works well with Google services, will get better
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Now that I've transferred all my music from iTunes to Google Music, I've been waiting for something to play Google Music through my TV. I tried MHL and HDMI via laptop, and they're just too much work. This works perfectly. Haven't tried HBO Go yet, but this is already worth the $35.

Decent product - doesn't work as advertised
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The chromecast is cheap and small - great for not adding to the cluster. It works well with netflix and hbo go. It doesn't work well for streaming videos through youtube or your phone.

nice option
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. There is a lot of great content on web pages that I would prefer to view from my living room rather than my office. Chromecast does a pretty good job providing that option.

Nice design, poor compatibility
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought it on Black Friday for the price of $30. It looks good and small, so it seems convenient to carry around. But it's not compatible with NETGEAR AC1750 Dual Band WiFi Gigabit Router (R6300 v2). My TV shows the Chromecast setup screen but when I use my laptop to connect it with the internet connection. It keeps showing that it's unable to connect with the Netgear router. Well, it will go back to the store tomorrow.

Poor quality-even worse customer service
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had read reviews before I bought this product so I knew that it came with almost no set-up instructions. So after a little internet research we had it up and running. It works pretty well most of the time. Occasionally, it is jerky and seems like the audio and video just don't match up. Our biggest complaint so far is with the HDMI extender. We need it for our family room TV (which is primary TV we use when using Chromecast) After just 3 or 4 uses it developed a short in the wire. If you hold it "just right" and don't move, it works....... Since Best Buy only accepts returns within 15 days, even on defective goods, we contacted Google. and received the following via email: To process your warranty replacement, we will need to put a temporary hold on your credit card. You will need a Google Wallet to do so. Please visit wallet.google.com/manage to create an account using your own email address you provided above. As soon as I receive this additional information, I'll be happy to process a warranty replacement. Do yourself a favor....don't bother with this product!

Amazing versatility
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Have finally cut the cable cord because of this device. I can cast whatever content I want from hulu, netflix, or local content and movies off my hard drive from plex. It's a great solution and was a big hit over christmas when I set my family up with them too.

Just awesome
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is an awesome device although a tad obsolete now to push all sorts of media from your phone/PC to a large screen TV. Especially now with apps like Allcast and Videostream, the utility of this neat little device has increased considerably. Go for it!

good device for great price
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought it for my Samsung Smart TV. I got it because it is hard browsing the web with the remote control. Surfing the web and watching videos are so much easier using the phone and the laptop using this device.

works for about half hour
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It was easy to set up, had it up and going in five minutes or so. Hadn't had time to use it much till this weekend, yesterday it quit after about half hour or so. Tried everything to make it go again but wouldn't. Tried again this morning and started right up, again worked great for about half hour and quit again. Its not my WiFi, its up and working. Everything else was working with it. Not sure what the problem is, but its very frustrating. Great while its working, but it's not reliable.
