I was interested in trying this and it was easy to set up. Probably OK for Netflix and the couple of other services available (I didn't try them# but useless for "casting" the screen of a tablet or smartphone #even Android devices running Chrome). One gets a message that "the operating system is not supported" - go figure. Also useless for a Chromebook not running Pixel.

Nice toy to play with but not for the average consumer. Who wants to dedicate their mobile phone or tablet to be an over-priced and difficult to use remote control. Roku, Apple or Smart BluRay players are better values. Returned this and bought cheap Sony BluRay that could do everything this did and more but with much better interface (remote, etc.).

The Chromecast doesn't save apps on it like Roku does, so you have to use through your phone.

Pretty much worthless. Already have Apple TV which for the extra bucks does this and so much more, much more easily. Does't do still photos or videos from the devices. Have to plug it in to outlet if TV doesn't have USB. Need to waste USB on TV if has it, as well as use the HDMI. Don't waste time or money on this product.

We were under the impression that chrome cast cast what was on your computer onto your tv. NOT SO. It is limited by whatever applications Google thinks you may want. We wanted to play a DVDs on our computers and cast it onto our TV's. One of us has a Mac and one has a PC and the chrome cast does NOT do that.

This item was recommended to me by a best buy sales person. I had to return it because it was lagging really bad. :( I don't know if it was defective, but I sure know it's not my connection. I took it back to the store the next day.

The sole reason I bought this device was to cast live NFL games from my phone to my TV. Regardless of whether I streamed the games from NFL's mobile app or ESPN's live streaming app, the cast was blocked on my TV. WHAT'S THE FRIGGIN' POINT?!?!? Needless to say, I returned this waste of $35.

Netflix has the crappiest movie selection I've ever seen and I don't personally need a huge TV to watch Youtube videos. Since those are the only 2 places Chromecast streams from, it's useless to me. Very disappointed and really confused about why so many people think so highly of it.

Sales people said it's a snap using Chrome Cast. Well it is if you're tech savvy. Had a very hard time getting it to work. Sales people did not say I needed a plug to run it and WIFI, after I told them my WIFI was in another room. Bad service for a bad product.

you need a computer which already gets you the programming. This device is totally unnecessary. just plug your computer into the television and you have circumvented the need for chrome tv. don't waste your time, you will only want to bring it back.

It doesn't do anything I can't do with my Apple TV, and it relies on a phone/tablet. ATV can be a standalone set-top box. Chromecast offers no mirroring and no local content streaming. Plus, I can use any remote with my ATV, not just a phone or tablet.

there is not much to watch, the only reason I bought this product is because I thought google is cool, everything made by google is cool but I was wrong, this product is lame, I'd rather pay twice the price for a refurbished blu-ray player.

After the latest update which took almost 45 min, it worked for about 10min more. overheated and now it is COMPLETELY DEAD. Bestbuy and Google are no help replacing it. It has been over 15 days. Do not buy. Or you will be SOL too.

I expected streaming my photos and videos in my laptop with this but I can't and the streaming Netflex videos through this Chromecast is terrible, pictures are poor and audio is not sync well. Don't waste your money with this.

I didn't see anywhere that you have to have more ugly power cables across the mantle just to power something that should be capable to get its power from the TV....very poor advertisements and explanation of requirements.

So hoped it would work. Setup stalled half way through. The dodad could not connect to my network and thus no casting. Even with Google tech support (hard to reach) they also could not get it to function. Had to return it to BB.

Bought this online, then bought a TV to play it on from Best Buy. By that time my 15 days to return was past. It's just hard to watch. Don't waste your money if you want it to watch programming on a regular website i.e. PBS.

Causes the on/off power button on my TV to stop working when Chromecast is plugged into it. Have to unplug TV in order to turn it on or off often enough that I stopped using Chromecast 2 weeks after I got it.

the problem with this is I installed the hardware and then followed the software side, it worked for a sec then the whole thing needed to buffer and made the movie unwatchable. google is trash.

It says it hooks to the IOS system but the site says soon to come and when you call support they make it sound like they are surprised at this point for the IOS system I wouldn't recommend at all
