Based on only a few weeks using this printer, I can say it meets my needs for moderate household printing. Photo printing and copying are decent. Fits nicely on my desk. It is quiet and reasonably fast. I have yet to try scanning. This was a model being discontinued, so the price was attractive for the features.

Easy to set up and begin using. User friendly operation, solid wireless connections, very good print quality for pictures. Only opportunity for improvement I noticed was providing more clarity for the different applications of each print tray as the bottom tray is only for one size of photo paper not two even though it is adjustable.

So far so good, the print is great and I like the way you can print pictures from your scan disk card. The printer was easy to set up and it works great wireless. The picture was clear and had real good color. I have given it 4 stars because I have only had the printer for about 6 weeks so I have not used all the features.

I really like that this printer can scan and then email the image to my phone. It makes things much easier. It's goes offline if turned off and I have to restart my computer. I am sure that is normal; but, I don't remember that being the case with my last HP (it is 3 years old). The baby of the family took the display off of that printer so we had to get a new one. I like the reliability of HP printers.. but not positional screens. The display of this printer is build into the body of the printer. I also like the size of the display.
I bought this printer because the ink was the cheapest for the most pages printed per cartridge. I went to HP website and looked at the ink to see what cartrige number could print the most pages. Then I checked prices and ease of availability. After those steps, I selected a printer based on the ink.
This printer fit the need of being wireless, scans documents, efficient ink usage, being easy to use, and able to print nice photos.

This printer is nice and compact yet powerful enough to print nicely. It has the feature of printing from your phone. My husband can print from his iPhone 6plus by syncing to printer. And we joined the ink jet program and it is worth it!

The Envy 7640 printer is high quality, was easy to set up and the print quality is excellent. It is more compact than several other printers I looked at and is ideal for a small, home office.

I bought this printer because my husband said if I was getting a new laptop then why not have a printer to go with it. Before and after we purchased it had no clue what I was going to use it for I had no use for a printer. Come to find out I love it and never knew I would use it for so many things... I now can sit on my couch and print photos of my children off of my phone, no ugly cords hooked to my laptop ( which is great I can be in the living room and if I need to print something I don't have to go to the office to print it, it will print from where its at), great for school projects for the kids, instead of my email being full of receipts I print them out and file them. There is so many things that are great about this printer. I highly recommend it.

I was uneasy about buying a wireless printer because my mom had such a terrible time with her wireless printer, but I love it! The best part is that I can print from my phone! Super easy to set up and use. Great quality and the replacement ink is cheap.

My printer is excellent.
High- quality printing, easy to install, has space for quite a bit of paper. It's quiet & pics will be great because of the high-quality printing. I recommend mend this HP printer to anyone.

I've had this for a couple of months now and so far it has functioned very well. Scans are very nice and print quality is good. I haven't done much photo printing yet but the bit I've done has been good. It's been hooked up both wireless and wired (stayed with wired) and it worked fine in both cases.
The only knock against this unit so far is the paper tray arrangement. The paper trays are difficult to access due to the geometry of the machine so it's a bit difficult to change out or add paper. Other than that I really like this machine. I am also trying out HP's Instant Ink program and it seems very good if you can anticipate your print volume fairly well.

It's not my primary printer. But it works for what I need.
Pros: compact. sleek. Sheet feeder, hooks up to the network easily. fast printing, auto turn off & on. will send b/w fax to computer w.out need for printing: saves paper and ink.
Cons: because of the one-all color cart. I can't control each color or overall intensity the way I'm used to with previous 5 cartridge canon printer. So it's kind of all or nothing with color control. i.e. not much control. Also, it made a mess of printing on some glossy paper that the canon had no trouble with. I would also prefer to have a pass through for heavier paper. Very demanding phone cord requirements (only 2 internal wires, not 4). I had to move the printer closer to the wall socket to accomodate this. My long phone cords (4-wire) wouldn't work. Generally very happy with it so far.

Needed a new all-encompassing printer and the HP printer seemed to cover it all from printing, scanning, photos to faxing. Just what I needed. It was simple to link with my computer and tablet (wireless) and the print quality is good.

Good stuff: easy to set up & link to wireless network, quiet, compact for all it does, easy to use, scanning is easy & of good quality.
Downfalls: blasts thru ink. I try to primarily use the black ink only when printing. It helps mildly.

I bought this printer to replace my old wireless printer which was wearing out. It is a great improvement. The wireless feature works great with Windows 10. Also, printing pictures works a lot better because of the paper adjuster in the printer. You can lock in the photo paper so you get a good picture every time without the paper getting out of adjustment so that you have to repeatedly realign the photo paper. ( I had this problem with my old printer). In addition the screen on the printer is very user friendly. The screen had good setup instructions when I hooked it up to my router for wireless printing.

I needed a wireless printer/scanner/copier/photo printer and have used the HPs before. Overall they are great.
- Setup was easy
- Wireless connection was easy from Windows 10 and an iPad
- Print quality was high and speed was good
- Toner comes in a Black and a Multi-Color cartridge (2 total)
My complaint is that the starter toner cartridges have nearly no ink in them. My test print was a 15 page full color rule set for a game and I got a low toner warning for yellow in the toner cartridge.
They have replacement cartridges which are "standard" capacity (about 2-300 pages) and high capacity (about 4-600 pages). Be certain to buy spares with the printer, you'll need them quickly.
I still recommend the unit; but only for people who do low printing amounts.
