Customers are saying

Customers often highlight the Victus 15.6" laptop's strong performance and good graphics capabilities for its price point. Many appreciate the option to upgrade the RAM, but some users mention that the battery life could be improved and that the screen brightness may not be sufficient in all situations. Additional feedback points to the build quality as decent and the weight as manageable. While some find the fan noise noticeable, others report that the laptop does not overheat excessively.

I bought this because i really needed a mew computer, and I am so happy I chose this one. it runs stuff well, it looks nice and honestly uts the best budget laptop I’ve gotten, though I didnadd extra RAM into it, so without that idk if itll be as good. Also overall the fans are kinda loud and it gets hot pretty fast. Other than that, amazing laptop I recommend!

Pros Strong Gaming Performance: The combination of the Intel Core i5-13420H and NVIDIA RTX 3050 handles modern AAA games smoothly at 1080p. The 144Hz display enhances the gaming experience with fluid visuals. Sleek Design: The Performance Blue finish gives it a stylish look that's both professional and gamer-friendly. User-Friendly: The laptop is straightforward to set up and use, making it accessible even for those new to gaming laptops. Cons Limited RAM: With only 8GB of RAM, multitasking can be a bit constrained. Upgrading to 16GB would provide a smoother experience. Battery Life: The battery doesn't last very long during gaming sessions, so staying near a power source is advisable. Fan Noise: The fans can get quite loud under heavy loads, which might be distracting in quiet environments. Overall Impression This HP Victus model offers excellent value for its price point, delivering solid gaming performance and a sleek design. While there are some drawbacks like limited RAM and battery life, these are common in gaming laptops within this range. Upgrading the RAM and managing power settings can mitigate some issues. Overall, it's a great entry-level gaming laptop that balances performance and affordability.

This is my personal experience and opinion-- it does not constitute professional advice or knowledge. In general, this is a good laptop if you can purchase it on sale around the $550 mark. For everyday use, such as browsing the web, watching YouTube videos, checking your e-mail, and working within Microsoft Office programs such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc. it gets the job done without an issue. Also, if you are coming from an older generation gaming laptop or graphics card series, you will feel the upgrade that this laptop can provide; and I would say it is a worthy upgrade if you can get it around the $550 price mentioned above. On the other hand, if you can manage to bump up to the next laptop price tier you can probably opt for a more solid machine in all aspects. Also, if you don’t need a laptop, you might be better off purchasing a desktop for the normal $899 price of this laptop, and you would be able to achieve a much higher level of performance to price ratio. Personally, I enjoyed the overall design of the laptop, how silently it ran, and the overall layout of the cooling system, including fan placement. In addition, the sound system was very good for a laptop, as it was crips and sharp, but it lacked on the lows and bass. The screen itself was the major downfall for me. Yes, it was a bit flimsy, but that wasn’t my issue. The weird dimness I experienced when using it during normal light conditions was a huge pitfall, and I just couldn’t get over not being able to see the screen half the time at full brightness in a lit room. If you plan to use this laptop only in a low-light or dark room, you shouldn’t have this issue, only in rooms with medium to high-light did I experience this weird visual dimness. Also, games did not run as I was hoping they would. The 3050 - 6GB VRAM and 8GB RAM showed early signs of bottleneck with most demanding applications, such as Forza Horizon 5 (Laptop/Game Selected Preset – Medium Settings). Lastly, it would be a great challenge to edit videos on the laptop, because of the screen dimness, color ranges seemingly off, and 8 GB RAM. Honestly, if the screen wasn’t as dim as it was, I would have probably kept the laptop as I got a good deal on it, as it was on sale for $599. I just couldn’t justify keeping it if it wasn’t able to run certain games I enjoy on the go with decent quality and with the screen quality being so low, I couldn’t justify using it only for office tasks. This laptop would be a perfect entry level machine if it just had a bit more RAM at 16 GB and at least 8 GB VRAM. Bottom line, if you need a laptop, don’t mind the screen dimness, and you can purchase this laptop on sale for around the $550 mark it is worth it, specifically as an entry level gaming or general day to day work laptop.

I love this laptop! :) Both variants are awesome.

I have the AMD variant of this laptop and I can safely say both the AMD and Nvidia variants are very good for entry level gaming. First off, I will note that the AMD RX6500M variant doesn't have 4K encoding, but if you don't plan to Livestream, then you can ignore that. The Nvidia model does have video encoding so all Nvidia users are aye okay. Second, the specs. The 144Hz refresh rate is really good and reduces screen tearing and lag in most games. Whether you get the RX6500M model or the RTX 3050 model, you are sure to get really playable frame rates, sometimes better in many games. The SSD and RAM are fully upgradable, however if you get the AMD variant you may be limited to just 32GB of max DDR4 RAM. The SSD is upgradable, but the 15 inch model has no second SSD slot. Third, the ports. The ports come with two USB A ports on both sides, the power port (obviously), an Ethernet port, an HDMI 2.1 port and a USB Type-C port (but no thunderbolt or Type-C charging). Lastly, the battery life is awesome. The AMD model comes with a 52.5Whr battery and the Nvidia model comes with a 70Whr battery. Nvidia users do be mindful that Nvidia GPUs are a bit more power consuming.

This laptop is a great purchase for gaming. Its nvidia graphics card has been able to handle most of what I have thrown at it. My game of choice is Skyrim vr. Even adding a few extra graphically intense mods it still runs smooth with my quest 2. As long as it’s plugged in during vr game play your experience is super smooth. I was able to add another ddr4 16gb ram card very easily. It was also a decent price for a gaming laptop. The only downside is that I needed to get a deck cooling pad for it. From what others have told me that is typical for gaming laptops so you don’t cook them.

I purchased this last Thursday and its a solid gaming pc. I got it when it went in sale so it was around $700. What a steal! Runs games great! Only little thing I upgraded right away was the ram. It comes with 8g but you can upgrade it, has 2 slots. I went with 32g myself but totally could just go all the way to 64g it you really want. 32g is perfect in my opinion. Also you can get an external ssd for more storage or replace the one thats in it. Not too heavy, great size. Was not originally a fan of the blue color but to be honest its not important to me. Preforamce is where its at and you are getting great preformance with this laptop.

It was a great price for what this laptop can do. I love the color and design, it’s super sleek. Ultimately the battery life does not seem as long as they say it is. I think the battery life estimate is really only if you were doing virtually nothing. I bought this to be able to play some games with higher graphics requirements and this laptop does the job. I don’t know why, but I’ve been having a hard time adjusting to typing on this laptop though. I think the keys are a bit more spaced out than I’m used to/the keyboard is larger than any other keyboard I’ve used

This laptop is pretty good. The first thing i did was upgrade the RAM to 16gb, so I actually don’t know how it performs with the 8gb of RAM it comes with. But it runs all the games I play flawlessly, and it has pretty decent battery life too, about two and a half hours while gaming, and more if you are just doing stuff like web browsing, etc. The display is good, not super bright though. Speakers are alright, but they could be better. The trackpad doesn’t feel super good to me, the keyboard is quite nice though. Overall build quality is decent. So i give this laptop 4 stars

I got the Victus 15 during a best buy menbers pre-black friday sale for about 1/2 off. This laptop is a good gaming computer. It has top of line laptop graphics card, decent CPU. I upgraded my RAM from 8 to 16 GB because 8 just is useless. Also uprgaded the 515gb HD to a 1TB drive. I dont have an issue with having to do the upgrades given the great deal i got on the laptop to begin with and memory is not super expensive and easy to change. Only con i have so far is the terrible battery life. It only lasts about 1 hour, and not even using lots of resources....just web surfing and Discord chats. You definitely need to be near a power outlet if you plan do really use this laptop. Im planning on upgrading the battery and seeing if that helps. Not sure if this current battery life is normal or not. Overall id say this is a good option for those on a budget looking for a laptop you dont plan on using away from power sources. It can run all the latest games with good frames. My daughter runs CAD and other engineering software on it, so it fits its purpose. Again, only real downfall and reason its only 3 stars is the battery life.

Picked this laptop up during Best Buy's recent Flash Sale. I am a desktop person, never owned a laptop. Seems like a very solid computer. Before walking out of Best Buy I purchased an 8GB memory stick to upgrade this to 16GB. Programs and apps are super fast, haven't played any games as of yet. Runs quiet and smooth. The 144Hz screen makes videos and photos pop with clarity. Have zero complaints so far.

After purchasing I added another 8gb of ram and it’s exceeded my expectations. Surprisingly cheap for the hardware and I haven’t noticed anything wrong with it yet. Even at MSRP this is cheaper than my old laptop but it performs a lot better and doesn’t feel cheaply made at all. Not a big fan of OEM installed apps but those can be easily installed so no big deal. Highly recommend this laptop, especially if it’s on sale.

This is one of the lightest weight, but fast and effiecient gaming laptops in the market. Its a great value and I like the warranty and all the features that more expensive models have. The salesman at Best Buy are very knowledgable about their product choices and wanted to get me the best value for a lower price point. I really trust Best Buy and always buy my next laptop and electronics from them and have been for years.

Very good for price. Runs most of the games smoothly (overwatch at 120-130 fps, mw2 at 100~ fps) I only use this for gaming so I didnt find a need to install another RAM, but i recommend installing another crucial DDR4 ram if it is going to be a main laptop. Also the battery life is about 2-3hr, but if you keep it plugged in all the time you should not have any probem

After owning this Laptop for 1 year and 5 months, I can tell its awesome! Since I got it I upgraded to 16GB Ram, and I been doing Work, Video editing and since I got it I stopped playing my Xbox series X, Because I love to play better on the Victus! Only downsides are that the battery only while playing is really bad, and Loud fan noise, besides that this is the perfect laptop.

This laptop is average at best. The 6gb rtx 3050 is better than the 4gb older version. The laptop is good in everday tasks boots up quick and the os works well. But it is crippled by the single 8gb stick of memory. As well as the bad battery life and mediocre screen. I dont know how you would get the 10 hours rated battery life, but i wasnt able to get anywhere close to that just surfing the web and watching youtube. This is an okay deal on sale for 699 but not even close to worth it at the retail price.
