For a budget fridge this has done well. We use it in our garage and when it gets too cold outside the freezer does struggle to keep things like ice cream frozen solid. But otherwise it's held up well.

Workers great, cold easy to maintain. The delivery drivers were amazing, on time, I was actually late and they waited for me and still took the time to go over everything on it. They made sure to answer all Our questions and concerns.

Maybe rates a five star rate but that would require it to bring the food to the table.Wire shelves are the best for a refrigerator[circulation].Large freezer compartment nice.

This is a terrible refrigerator. If you want your perishable food to be safe to eat, do not purchase this fridge. I'm currently on my first replacement of this fridge; unfortunately, the replacement does not work either. For further evidence that Insignia fridges are not very good, I also have an Insignia mini fridge (model: NS-CF43SS9). It never kept a consistent, safe temp, and broke within a year. I was sent a replacement, which I have right now. The replacement was broken right out of the box, and temperature of the fridge varies anywhere from 28F - 46F without opening the doors. Before I tell you about this fridge, let me educate you a little about food safety, in case you are unaware. Perishable items such as milk and dairy, etc., need to be stored at a temperature of 40F and below. Above this temperature, bacteria can quickly grow on your food and make you sick. It is paramount that your refrigerator's internal temp is kept below 40F, if you want your perishable food to be safe to eat. This is the point of refrigeration. (Google 'USDA food safety temperatures' to learn more.) This fridge, unfortunately, does not accomplish this, About this fridge: The first fridge would not cool below 38F, even on the coldest setting of 5. What was inside would stay warm. It also arrived with significant cosmetic damage. At the coldest setting, a fridge should easily be getting down to 32F with no issues. At least it was safe, but it was still clear the fridge was not functioning properly, so I had it replaced. They sent me this one. This one is far worse, and does not keep the food safe. It has two problems: (1) The minor issue: The door seals are problematic. If you open/close the fridge, the freezer door will pop open, and vice versa. The freezer door was like this from day 1, with the fridge door only developing this problem after about a month or so. As a result, the freezer collects water where the seals are on top, and condensation collects on food items on the top shelf. (2) The major issue: if the internal temp of the fridge raises more than say 4 degrees (Fahrenheit), such as if you take a couple minutes to put away groceries, the compressor will not come back on long enough to cool the fridge back down to where it was. It will blow cold air just long enough to cool it by perhaps a degree, then it stops blowing cold air entirely. Sometimes, like right now, it does not come on at all, and just allows the fridge to stay at an unsafe temp. Right now for example, the internal temp rose to 40F after I had to rearrange some things to make room for groceries; even though it's risen to 40F, the fridge does nothing to counteract this, no cold air blows. It just stays like that. This is at the coldest setting of 5. Sometimes when this happens, I'm able to get the cold air to start blowing, by toggling the temperature switch, for example setting it from setting 4 to 5. Usually I have to keep checking every hour or two and trying this trick, and usually after about 24 hours I'm able to finally work it back down to where it was. Today, unfortunately, this trick is not working. I'll likely have to replace the perishable food I recently got, which I got to replace previous perishable food I have had to discard due to the fridge not maintaining a safe temp below 40F. Now - I want to be clear. The cooling issue on this replacement, only seems to happen if the internal temp rises more than about 4 degrees. If I just open the door for a second or two, grab something quick and shut it, and the temp only raises by a degree, cold air will start blowing, it'll go back down to what it was, and I'm good. Using the fridge like that, it maintains an internal temperature of 34F or so with no problems, on setting 4. But whenever I need to put away groceries, look for something in the fridge, essentially do anything that requires more than 15 seconds or so, which causes the temp to rise up 3 or 4 degrees, I run in to this problem. Then for the next day or so, I am battling the fridge to stay below 40, because it just refuses to blow cold air long enough to cool itself down. As a result, I barely use the fridge at this point. I try and open the door for just a split second. This happens every time I need to put groceries away. Another big con about this fridge: the wire shelves. But not for the reason you think. Indeed, they are annoying - things constantly fall over because the gaps are wide. For example, I have a lot of Ensure drinks in my fridge. They do not stand up and fall over if anything touches them. Or jars of peanut butter, anything like that. The things fall off the shelves and on to the floor. It's an inconvenience but I wouldn't mind it. The problem is that, as I can't keep the door open for more than a few seconds, I can not even take the 20 seconds or so to stand things back up, or rearrange anything, because if I do, the fridge won't cool itself back down as mentioned before. As a result my fridge is mostly a mess of knocked over products. And I can't take even a few seconds to search among all that before again I'll get the same problem. Finally, about my fridge: I live alone and am the only one who uses this fridge. I use it very, very lightly. It lives inside, in my kitchen. The room temperature of the kitchen stays around 82F, so while warm, it is not roasting in a garage, or anything like that. For both fridges, I followed all instructions while setting it up. They are leveled. Each side has 4 inches at least around it from the wall to ensure proper air flow. This is not user error. A lot of the 5 star reviews on here, I wonder how many of them are unaware of the internal temp of their fridge, and are just happy they didn't have to spend a lot of money. This does not come with a thermometer in it, so most people probably don't know what temp it is in their fridge. I have my own fridge thermometers - 4 in fact. I keep multiple inside, just to make sure it's not an issue with the thermometer. This is a constant issue. This is a very inexpensive fridge, I'm aware of that. I do not expect fancy features, I don't care what it looks like, I don't care about the poor wire shelves. I didn't care about the cosmetic damage on the first one. All I care is that my fridge maintains a safe temperature to keep my food from spoiling; that is the entire point of owning a refrigerator. Unforutnately, this fridge - nor does the one it replaced, or the two Insignia mini fridges I have gone through so far - does not do that. About the Insignia mini fridge I bought btw - I'll explain what goes on with it. It is far worse than this one, to the point of being unusable. It can not maintain a consistent internal temperature, even if you don't open the doors at all. You can open the fridge one day and it's at 45 - 47F with water is melting down the sides, open it two days later, it's at 29F with everything frozen, 2 days later, back to 48 with everything melting. This is without opening the door in between. Just checking it once every few days. That is how the replacement they sent me worked out of the box. The first one had the same issue, but it was not as severe, and developed over the course of 6 months until it had become unusable. This replacement however, was unusable like this from day 1. After 4 faulty refrigerators, all 4 having issues with not being able to safely cool, I have come to the conclusion that Insignia is not a good brand for refrigerators. I would not recommend buying a fridge from them. Nor will I ever purchase another one. That said, their customer service is very friendly and were eager to help. I did appreciate that. But it's not worth it to me to keep having to replace these bad fridges and waste money on spoiled food. The worst part of these refrigerators, is that I feel uncomfortable eating many things from the fridge because of the inability of the fridge to cool back down. So a lot of my food goes to waste just for that reason alone. If you are considering taking a chance and buying this - please be aware that Best Buy's return policy is very poor - you have only 15 days if you want to return or replace this fridge. I do not think it is worth the risk, personally. A lot of these issues were apparent immediately but some crept up slowly over the course of a few weeks. I would recommend spending more on another fridge. All that said - if you do decide to chance it and buy this fridge, please buy a refrigerator thermometer. Ideally, one that keeps not only the current temp, but records a 24 hour high (meaning, it remembers what's the highest temp detected in the past 24 hours.) Put it in your fridge, and be aware of the internal temp of your fridge. Make sure your fridge is at 40F or below to avoid food spoilage. If you put your groceries away, and find that your compressor is not coming on even though it's already above 40F in your fridge - try the trick of manually changing the temperature setting to force it to kick on. Then you can switch it back to the normal setting once the temp finally settles. Hopefully, that will help. My plea to Insignia: please reconsider the quality of your products. It is clear across multiple reviews that these fridges have problems. Quality issues will always exist, and I accept that. I can live with shelves breaking or "inconvenience" issues. But a fridge not cooling properly, that jeopardizes peoples’ health. Especially on fridges like these that don't even have thermometers built in - because people will not even realize it's not working well. Give me a fridge that's ugly, or with broken wheels, or something like that. Don't give me a fridge that doesn't keep my food safe, that's just wrong in my mind.

I initially doubted the effectiveness of this machine. It has proven me wrong over and over. Being black conceals the dirt from outside at least. It makes me lazy to clean often. Spacious and perfect I love it.

Love the fridge as it works great, just wish it did not have the wire shelves as condiments, cans and bottles do not stay upright and fall over. Never thought about that before purchase and now sure wish I did

The shelves are weird and a can doesn’t stand on them even. Not sure why they designed them like that. I use it in the garage with soft drinks, water, beer. Bottles just fall over and cans too. Yes I have the shelves the right side up. Just annoying. And the unit heats up on the sides when cooling. I hate to write a bad review on it but I doubt it will be as dependable as my 16 year old Kenmore I replaced. Maybe 4 to 5 years? Will see.

Working on getting this item exchanged out. Received the fridge and have had it plugged in for 4 days now. The fridge makes a LOT of loud noises. Sometimes it sounds like a dishwasher is running. The doors are heavier than my old fridge, but don't seem to stay closed despite the heft to them. Pretty disappointed.
