Prefect size for our space

We’ve been needing a bit more fridge and freezer space but don’t have the space for another full-sized refrigerator, so we decided to get this mini fridge and freezer combo instead. It’s mostly being used for beverage and “long-term” storage of perishables that we don’t go through quickly like condiments and salad dressings as well as occasional temporary storage like desserts and appetizers for gatherings. The outer dimensions are a perfect fit for the corner of the living room where we are using it. The fridge portion gives us an extra 3.1 cu ft while the freezer provides an additional 1.4 cu ft for frozen items.
The power cord is around 5 ft long and it weighs just over 60 lbs, so it is not too heavy to move around. The doors have no exterior handles and instead use recessed hand pulls at the bottom and top of the freezer and fridge doors respectively. Out-of-the-box both doors swing open to the right, however, the door hinges are reversible. The unit comes with additional hardware to swap the opening direction which we ended up needing to do, but the instructions for completing this task aren’t well-written, and the illustrations were difficult to decipher as the details in the drawings are miniscule. Just be aware that the screw holes for the left-hand-side foot may be hidden under a layer of insulating foam.
The exterior of the fridge has a stainless steel finish on the doors, and the rest is a textured black. All surfaces are magnetic, including the doors, and the two feet at the front corners are adjustable in height for leveling.
The fridge compartment has 3 glass shelves and a crisper drawer. The top two shelves are full-length and can occupy 3 possible positions. However, the third shelf is only a half-length as the back half is occupied by the well where collected condensation drains to the exterior. The upper shelves fit snugly into drop-in channels while the half-shelf simply slides forward and back easily within a groove. All the shelves are removable allowing you to customize the heights and number of levels to accommodate your items.
Using the crisper drawer ensures that your items are placed far back enough to accommodate the three basket trays on the interior of the door so that it can close. All the baskets are 4” deep and can hold items up to 4”, 13”, and 6.5” tall from top to bottom. The middle basket is perfect for taller items like half-gallon milk and juice jugs, wine bottles, and 12 oz soda bottles. Their heights and placement are fixed but all of them are easily removable.
There is a bright white LED on the right side of the fridge behind the temperature controller. The design of the temperature dial is somewhat unusual as it’s settings are 0-3 where ‘0’ is off, then there’s a long gradient up to ‘1,’ a shorter interval to ‘2,’ which is immediately followed by ‘3,’ then settings beyond 3 that doesn’t terminate at a number. I found that when set to ‘3’ the temperature inside the fridge is around 40°F which is the highest food-safe temperature recommended for raw foods like meat and dairy. At the coldest setting, temperatures plunged to 28°F and there was ice along the back wall, so I like to keep the fridge set to the mid-point between the two, somewhere between 34-36°F. Any condensation that remains liquid will eventually run down the back and down into the drain at the bottom of the well, which collects in a drip tray at the back of the fridge.
The refrigerator compressor hums only while it is cooling though isn’t very loud. When the target temperature is reached, the compressor shuts off and the unit is silent. The fridge does put out a little heat while running, however, the unit is Energy Star certified with an annual estimated usage of 329 kWh.
Overall, this mini fridge and freezer combo is great for small spaces, and folks who don’t need all the space of a full-sized fridge. It works great as a beverage fridge and can accommodate different sized vessels from wine bottles to soda cans, and the adjustable/removable shelves allow you to customize the interior to meet your needs. I found that it cools quickly and is able to reliably reach food-safe temperatures and below.

I needed a second fridge for the holiday, is a nice looking fridge. The only thing is that the it sweats then it freeze everything. There is no happy medium temperature, even if is in coldest it swats, and on low it sweats. I kept it because I didn't wan't to carry it back to the car. Frisgiair has a better one at a similar price, I found out after I purchase this one.

I am current happy with the purchase which is why I am rating this at 4 of 5 stars.
Things I like:
Size - big enough but not too big. Enough internal space for separation of multiple 12pks of soda, selzter waters and protein shakes. Doesn't take up more floor space than a dorm fridge. Likely will not fit under a desk (unless standing)
Separated freezer and fridge compartments - can store variety of frozen lunches and ice.
Price/Value - tough to beat the possibilities with the price point.
Things I question:
Noise - there is a slight noise occasionally when it initially starts running that makes me question durability/quality. Hopefully this is just my parnoia.
Reversing the Door - that was a cumbersome and clunky process that could be improved. Hopefully will be a one time process.
It is tough to rate a product after a month of usage but I have been happy thus far. This appliance has been really nice and I have been pleased. There aren't many options at this price point and size. It is replacing a medium size dorm fridge that ran for more than 5 years. Decided to replace the dorm fridge due to limited interior space and dinky freezer box that constantly accumulated ice buildup on the sides. Fingers crossed.

Cold and quiet with a surprisingly spacious freezer! The bottom refrigerator compartment is about the size of a classic mini fridge, but I was happy to find the freezer was larger than I anticipated. I’m used to them being more like a glove compartment when it comes to compact fridges, but this one can comfortably fit a bunch of tubs of ice cream and frozen dinners. Temperature is controlled by a singular knob in the refrigerator section, which also does a good job keeping things cool. I haven’t had any issues with frost or leaks, but those kinds of issues usually don’t surface until about a year or so. So far so good!
It’s a pretty basic refrigerator with freezer that’s perfect for a private room or secondary fridge. Outside of keeping things cool, the best part might be how quiet it is. I almost never hear the thing running and even when it does it’s barely noticeable. While the finish isn’t real stainless steel, it captures the hue well and at least it’s not a magnet for fingerprints. The silver and black colorway gives it a somewhat modern look and should blend in most decors. Overall, it’s a good looking fridge that stays cold, is super quiet, and is energy star efficient. I can’t find much of anything to complain about. Great job, Insignia!
PROS
- Looks good, blends with most decor
- Silver doesn’t attract fingerprints
- Quiet operation
- Fridge and freezer regulates temps well
- Freezer surprisingly spacious
- Glass shelving
- Reversible doors
- Relatively light
- Energy Star certified
CONS
- None

Great fridge/freezer for garage, dorm room, etc.

We have had an Insignia brand mini fridge in our garage for a while now that we use to keep drinks cold without having to take up a lot of space in our main fridge. Aside from the convenience it's provided, it hasn't given us any issues despite being in an environment that has wildly varying temperatures. We've been happy enough with it to add this fridge to our "ecosystem", if you will.
Quality wise the fridge was packaged well to prevent damage, feels well made with quality materials, and has a premium appearance for a fridge in this category and price range. Functionally, it works very well for what it is. There is plenty of usable space and some limited ability to customize the shelving in the fridge area and the usable space is easy to access, and the interior of the fridge is well lit.
There are a few quirks/things I'd change - the racks in the door doesn't have any customization, the top shelf won't allow a typical 12 oz. soda can because the can is (maybe) 1/8" too tall for the door to close, and the shelving in the fridge interior only has one alternative spot, which although limited, is still nice to have.
Outside of those functional quirks, this is a great fridge for our use case and, in a setting like a dorm room or a small camper/RV, this could easily serve as a main fridge in those settings where you don't need a ton of customization or space. I would have really enjoyed having something like this when I was in college and not having to share space with other people.
Basically, it's everything I could ask for and, based on our experience with our other Insignia fridge, I expect it will perform well and be reliable, even though it'll be in a less-than-ideal environment.

Compact fridge and freezer setup

My kitchen's layout is unusual, and there is no way to fit a full-size fridge in the kitchen itself. I had a fridge in the adjoining dining area, but the setup looked "odd," and it was inconvenient having to dart over there to grab things while prepping a meal.
I decided to move my existing fridge to the basement for long-term, bulk food storage and pick up this smaller fridge to keep in the kitchen itself.
So far, it's working very well for my needs.
The fridge keeps food nice and cold. I haven't had any issues with it icing over or being too warm. The temperature settings seem just about perfect.
The shelf placement in the fridge portion is a little unfortunate. I had to drop the top shelf down a bracket in order to accommodate standard size water bottles. This wasn't the easiest task to accomplish. The shelves do not move easily. If you want to fit a full gallon size jug of milk or something in this fridge, then you'd have to remove a shelf completely. There is no way that it would fit with the default shelf positioning.
The crisper bin is small, but it's "just" large enough to accommodate a head of iceberg lettuce and a couple small bags of baby peeled carrots (though it's a bit of a tight fit).
The bins on the door are a decent size, and they seem to hold bottles of salad dressing and the like securely.
The freezer is a decent size and has a shelf to separate it into two sections. I was able to easily store my ice cube trays and a couple bags of frozen veggies in it.
I with this fridge was just a smidge larger, and I wish that I was able to fit a gallon of milk in it without removing a shelf, but I'm otherwise quite happy with it.

Bedroom Fridge

I got this fridge because my daughter is hogging up our main fridge with pet foods and supplies. This gives her own little spot in her room to keep all her pet stuff and even snacks if she needs. There's plenty of space and the fridge keeps everything as cool as you need.
To get an idea of the size, picture a mini-fridge and then put a small cube mini-fridge on top and you basically have the size of the 4.5 CU unit. Bigger than a mini, but not as large as a full size fridge.
Noise is pretty low, but it's hard to really tell with the fans in room.
The main fridge does have two LED lights so you can see what's in the fridge, but the freezer doesn't, but I think that's normal for most regular units also. If my daughter didn't need it I'd be putting this nice unit upstairs to keep a stash of drinks, snacks, and microwavable meals for when we feel too lazy to run downstairs when we have a little hankering for a quick snack. Seriously thinking that I need to go ahead and by another unit since they're priced well.

Purchased this to serve as a backup while waiting on repair of our primary fridge. Before purchasing, I read the not-so-good reviews about delivered units being damaged, and the interior back and side walls iced up needing frequent defrosting. I personally picked up the new fridge which ensured no damages, and by not overstuffing it reduces the extent of ice forming on the interior walls. Very satisfied with this 4.5 cu. ft. model, that I'm thinking of exhanging this for the 7.2 model of which both are on sale.

Out refrigerator broke right before Thanksgiving, and we needed something immediately. So, we purchased this little refrigerator to use until we could get a new one. It has been so handy, and now I am very happy we bought it. We keep it in the laundry room and we hold things in it like water bottles, the dog’s meds, and another things. It is a nice, little refrigerator with a little freezer in the top. It works well, and I am happy with my purchase.

I am very satisfied with this Insignia 4.5 cu. ft. refrigerator. The stainless-steel finish looks modern and clean, and the size is perfect for small apartments or bedrooms. The freezer on top gets cold quickly, and the fridge section keeps food fresh for a long time. It runs quietly and doesn’t take up much space. For the price, the quality is excellent. Highly recommended!

Compact but does the job. Needed extra refrigerator space but do not have a lot of room for another full size one. The freezer fit two small bags of ice and a turkey breast. The refrigerator portion fit my party leftovers and drinks. It only took up a small corner space. It will be my extra refrigerator for snacks and drinks when the grandkids come.
