This has been a very solid CPU. I am currently able to constantly keep a stable 5.0 GHz with AIO from Corsair. It's currently paired with an EVGA XC3 3080 ti and I am able to game at 1440p over 140 fps on all the games I have played. For example, Insurgency Sandstorm, Halo Infinite, Battlefield 2042, and God of War.

Upon building my gaming rig for 2019, the first thing I had to greatly consider was the CPU. It was decidedly between the i9-9900K and the i7-9700K.
All in all, temps are manageable, speeds are phenomenal, and the price is while a little on the expensive side; worth the price of admission. If you're looking for the best, this is it.
As far as how it performs in the aforementioned category, EXTREMELY well. I have it paired with a RTX 2080 and there seems to be very little bottlenecking going on here. I have the processor overclocked at 5.2Ghz where it will happily sit at about 65 degrees attached to an AIO Corsair H150i.
I decided upon the i7-9700K because extensive research kept proving again and again that if you are primarily using your computer for the function of gaming, there is a very slight difference between the two.

At the time of purchasing this was the top CPU on the market and still is one of the best. Has amazing speed and power to get any type of job your working on done. Adobe is extremely fast and the overall performance is just hard to beat. The K version is overclockable and with the silicone lottery as they say, I got lucky. I can overclock it to a stable 5.2Ghz boost, with water cooling, without much more voltage. Also an amazing gaming CPU which is what I mainly use it for. Very hard to go wrong with this item.

I upgraded my CPU from an i7 6700 to the 9700k, and I am very pleased. This processor has 8 cores but no Hyper Threading; which doesn’t effect me negatively since I use it for gaming. I have it overclocked to 4.9Ghz stable and will be testing 5.0Ghz in the coming weeks. I saw a huge improvement in the Assassin’s Creed franchise, as much as 25fps more in Origins! I gained 12fps in Shadow of the Tomb Raider. Battlefield 5 saw a gain of around 20fps, but most impressive was average frame rate and lower frame times.
My temps are good as well, but I am using a Corsair h115i platinum rgb. My temperatures range in the upper 50’s to lower 60’s at load in games and idles in the 30’s (Celsius).
I feel the value of this processor isn’t good at $400, but catch it on sale for around $330 and it’s a great deal!

Even though we lost hyperthreading, this thing is still a beast. I am seeing a notable difference in my gaming; fewer slowdowns and quicker loadings. The security has been improved too: hardware fixes at the silicon level for spectre and meltdown. Compared to the 9900K, this thing is worth the money and a must own for the hardcore gamer.
If your a professional gamer or streaming for youtube, where every GHz matters, only then would you need the 9900K.
But if not then the 9700K is for you.

Bought the CPU online and picked up in my local store. Bought this particular CPU to be used on my new gaming setup. It’s been wonderful, combined with a noctua fan setup I never worry about temp and so far everything I’ve thrown at it, it’s been able to handle.

First off, Best Buy had the lowest price. Secondly, the cpu boosts to 4.9 with ease. I have a Corsair water cooler on the unit and it runs in the low to mid 60’s when the fans are set to “balanced” at 4.9. With the fans on “quiet” it runs in the high 60’s to low 70’s, still pretty cool. I’m sure if it was over locked to 5.2 or something it would run into the mid to high 70’s, still not terrible.
While a lot of factors go into actual use, I find my games run very well with no issues. The cpu usage on COD Modern Warfare is between 40 to 60%, so only using 4-5 of the 8 cores.
Overall, I’m very pleased with the Intel i7 9700K

I previously had an i5 8600k which was part of a budget build I did even though I am not on a budget. Didn't really have a problem with the CPU until these newer games came out. I upgraded to the i7-9700k along with upgrading from a Geforce 4gb 1050ti to a 11GB 1080ti DUKE(that cost me $1000 on Amazon). I wanted to play new games on high/ultra settings on my brand new Asus 1ms 144mhz 1440p monitor. Oh boy, this CPU did not disappoint. I have been playing Doom Eternal recently. All settings maxed. on AIO cooling and it doesn't go above 60c on load. It idles 29-31c. I was able to pick this CPU up for $329 so that was a bargain. I also wanted to be able to play VR and have good hardware. Although, I do not have a Valve Index kit yet, I will be ready once this virus garbage is over and I can order one and not have to wait 2+ months to get it. Anyways, when I ordered it online for store pickup, it literally just came in the stock i7 box. Nothing fancy, no fuss.
Pro's - I set the PC in game mode in the MSI bios and it automatically overclocks the CPU so it basically stays around 4.6-4.9Ghz. No need to mess around with timing and all that.
- Great price, $329 on sale at my local BB.
-It is a beast of a processor and will be useful for more years to come.
Cons - It can run a little hot if you OC it. I originally had the Hyper 212 Evo cooler but temps would get up to 79-80 when playing new titles on high settings. This isn't terrible but I wanted cooler so I got liquid cooling and a few extra case fans to blow out that warm air. Outside of this, you could not overclock it and still run new titles. I have a friend who just got one and doesn't OC anything. He plays VR mainly on his and the performance is good.
You can't go wrong with this CPU. AMD use to be a joke but they are now putting out some good CPU's but I have always been an Intel fan and I believe there is more support for the Intel chipset family than AMD when it comes to the hardware itself and support for games.

Very fast! Installed on my Asus MB, it was easy, and came right up and ran. You do want a good cpu cooler as they will run hot, but with a good cooler, runs cool. Mine runs around 30 degrees C.

This CPU can do anything you need. I have no problem playing games and running simulations on VMs. I have this overclocked to 5.2GHz and water cooled with a ThermalTake AIO. I grabbed this CPU for a steal at the beginning of the year. It is currently still priced higher. I would buy it for more than the current price as well, it is that good. This CPU has insane power savings available as well, you can basically get it down to consuming only a few watts at idle, then go a hundred watts over the TDP at full load, if you can keep it cool.

This CPU is phenomenal and causes absolutely no bottlenecks when paired with a RTX 2080 super. No issues to report, handles everything you throw at it with power to spare. If you have an Intel preference, I would highly recommend this *only* if you want a high end card with it as well, lest you bottleneck the cpu and render it useless for the price. Also recommend getting a sutiable heatsink/water cooler. Thermals aren't crazy with this but the specs warrant effective cooling.

Was set on the Ryzen 9 3900x or 9900k, but after countless reviews and performance benchmarks, this cpu is ideal for gaming for the money. It's faster than the 3900x, as fast as the 9900k and all at $329 (price match microcenter). I'm running it OCed at 4.7 with a Corsair H60 CPU cooler....it runs BFV much better than my old i7 4770k.
Do your homework and compare. For gaming exclusively it's hard to beat.

I recently upgraded my CPU from an 8600k to this CPU. I have seen an increase to FPS in certain games and especially minimum FPS in some games. This CPU requires a relatively high end cooler to reach its full potential. This CPU also consistently exceeds the stated TDP of 95 watts. I had to override my motherboards default TDP settings in order to get the chip to run at its specified all core turbo. I have not yet tried to over lock the chip as it has not been necessary.

New build.
Intel i7 - 9700k 3.6GHz processor
Asus ROG Strix Z390-E Gaming MB
MSI Super Ventus OC Nvidia RTX 2080 Super graphics card
Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro 32GB 3.2GHz
Corsair Hydro Series H100i RGB processor liquid cooling
Corsair Crystal Series ATX Mid-Tower Case
This machine is working beyond what I had even hoped for. Haven't done any 4k gaming yet but it's handling everything else with ease.

Got this guy while upgrading my motherboard and new RAM. Works wonderfully all together. The chip came in clean and without any issues. As long as your cooling unit is installed correctly, you shouldn’t have any issues. It has taken the main load for my streaming processing over my older GTX 1070 card, but with that being upgraded soon, they will work so well together.

Coming from a i7-4790(non k) this CPU is a great upgrade for me. Cooled with a H100i RGB Platinum, my max temp is under 70 degrees Celsius in a warm room while gaming, with an overclock to 5ghz. Take note that a Hyper Evo 212 cooler will be a bit of tackle to keep it cooled even without overclock in high workloads. Just be sure to have enough air flow in your case.
