This processor doesn’t break a sweat utilizing very few cores whatsoever running tons of applications including games and streaming videos as well. Excellent processor for anyone thinking of streaming/recording gameplay and using task heavy design software.

great cpu upgrade

Owned for 3 months when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was running an i7 7700k for the past 3 years since new and it was doing fine for everything I used it for, but I got a good deal on a newer board that did not support my 7700k so I upgraded to this cpu and it is much faster. when I buy a blu-ray movie, I rip it on my pc to my media server, upgrading to a cpu with more cores significantly reduced the encoding times.

No hyperthreading needed with this!! Don't let that scare you away from this chip. Able to push everything I'm throwing at it without needing to OC the chip. K model so I can eventually. If you can find this for the $300-350 range, its well worth it.

It had been powered by an I7-6700k skylake. But this 6th generation cpu is limited in its motherboard applications. Thus the 64-bit octa-core high end performance Chip based on the coffee lake micro architecture. A worthy successor in my mind. I paired It with Asus Prime Z390-A motherboard And 32gb of ram. Computing g have aven!

Excellent CPU!

Yes, it doesn't have hyper threading compared to last gen i7 processors, but i haven't noticed any problems with that yet. It will still do everything you need, from gaming to editing, etc. Overclocking is pretty good as well, only depends on where your particular chip falls in the silicon lottery I suppose.

Overclocks easy with relatively little cooling. Taking a star off because I consider this a pretty high cost for the performance compared to other options.

Capable and Strong

I have been running it overclocked to 5.1GHz with water cooling for going on 1.2 years now. No complaints, it stays cool, handle's anything I throw at it with ease. Overclocked, 3Dmark scored it at 7540 on timespy.
