True to the old adage, you get what you paid for. We purchased this laptop for our assistant. We wanted her to be mobile during Covid19 lockdown. It comes with an A6 and Microsoft office. If one is doing basic things like word processing or checking email, this is sufficient. If one is surfing the internet, SLOWWWWWWWW!!!! Worse, if one is doing a zoom video call. This laptop can't handle these 2 tasks. But we got it under $150. So it serves it's basic purposes.

The Lenovo IdeaPad 1-14 laptop is an entry level, light use system with its AMD A6-9220e processor, with a base speed of 1.6GHz and a boost speed of up to 2.4GHz, 4GB of RAM and a 64GB eMMC solid state hard drive, for quick access to files and programs. This model ships with Windows 10 S-Mode Operating System. Windows 10 S-Mode provides added security by only allowing APPs available ( and therefore certified by Microsoft) at the Microsoft Store. If you don't need the added security or you need to install APPs not available at the Microsoft Store, you can switch to standard Windows 10 Home 64-bit Operating System, at no additional cost. The Lenovo IdeaPad 1-14 laptop is not meant for multi-tasking or demanding programs. It is good for Microsoft Office and light internet browsing. Bought this specifically fora traveling laptop. IE. something that could get lost, broken or stolen and I wouldn't care. And for that purpose it's awesome. Especially if you get it for the black friday pricing. CPU is about what you'd expect for a couple generation back dual core. Adequate. Integrated graphics are better than the low end Intel stuff but not by much. You won't be gaming (unless the game is a decade old, It'll play C&C Zero Hour without issue). But it will easily browse websites, display spreadsheets and stream hd video. The biggest let down is in the storage department. The integrated micro-sd card reader barley manages 20MBps read and write. (The same card when tested in an external USB 3.0 card reader easily pulled 60MBps r/w). The wireless is also a bit mediocre. While it is ac and dual band, it tops out at 433mbps.

It's a good mini laptop if you are looking for a basic laptop on a budget. I bought 2 on sale for working from home and schoolwork. Can be a little slow with only 4gb of ram if too many things are open at once, so not great at multitasking, and if you need to store a lot of files/pictures, you'll need an external hard drive, which I already have, so not a concern for me, but it worked great while working from home and was decent for my daughter to do her schoolwork during the pandemic.

Great computer for the price I paid. I bought this for my 7 year old who uses it mainly to play games so, with that being said, the only drawback I have noticed is that once there's a few games downloaded it really slows it down. Overall I'd say works well for its intended purpose.

Overall a decent laptop (especially for the price). It’s not super fast but I didn’t expect it to be. It is light, quiet, has good battery life and is fast enough for basic needs. If/when I need something more powerful then I’ll upgrade but till then its just what I needed.

I bought this computer last year to use with Microsoft Office. I lend it to my students so they can do their work at home. It has been great. Light and easily transported. I use a good carry case to prevent damage. It is not a speed demon, but it gets the work done.

To summarize, I purchased this LT for very basic things such as browsing the web and place to play with iTunes and download basic apps. Love the size and form factor, price is great. The only downside is performance, I get it, it's a budget laptop that for the price is no real place to complain but I'm gonna. It's painfully slow, I mean really slow, even for very basic things it's slow. If you can get past that, it's a bargain.

Good price. Light weight. Screen is decent size.
Computer comes with something called S Mode, which I've never heard of prior to today, when I set up the computer. You have the option to turn off S Mode, but once you do it, it's a permanent change. If you stay in S Mode, you can only download certified apps from Microsoft. If you turn it off, you can download anything. If you turn it off, the computer is slow as molasses. So slow. So incredibly slow. Turns out, the things that are required to work from home, learn from home, and anything else that you might have previously used that is not Microsoft certified, can only be used if you turn off S Mode. Therefore, you either have an expensive paperweight - because who the heck is going to wait 3 minutes for Google to load?? - or you cannot utilize necessary programs. Choose wisely, this is not it.
It got 2 stars because it is lightweight, the screen size is not bad, and it is affordable. If you do not need anything special such as zoom or specific secondary school learning programs, then this computer would probably be a good choice.

Picked this up during the Black Friday promotion. I knew based on the specs that this was a very lightweight laptop. If you need something to run the various MS Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), do some emailing, general web browsing... then this is sufficient for those purposes. This isn't a machine that you are going to use for gaming, video or photo editing. I can't speak for battery life yet, but based on most reviews I've seen, you are looking at 5-8 hours depending on use. The 12 months of free MS 365 was nice. It's not snappy quick, but I haven't encountered any of the major slowness issues others have mentioned yet. Overall, it fits my needs.

As are many parents in our ever changing world, I found myself at home homeschooling in late March. Initially, because I wasn't really working, I didn't mind the kids using my computer, and I must say, most of their work could be completed on the IPAD. However, as we found our groove, I realized we were all fighting for the use of my laptop. Something I could not have. I purchased this for the two kids to used for web based classroom assigment stuff. As far as the camera - that they needed for classroom meetings and video submission - it stinks ! It is all grainy and turns out they have to use my computer for those 2 things anyway. It was priced well at $229 and fits the bill on all but anything to do with using the camera , so if you are not using Zoom or Flipgrid or anything like that, this is a sold computer for file creation , web browsing etc.

Could have been great, if not the slow performance, which I can't figure out why ,if it's the processor that can boost the clock to over 2Ghz which is enough to run everything or the video card that only has 80MB of memory which is nothing. 4Gb RAM is sufficient. I tweaked it the best I can, but still Google chrome take 5-10 seconds to load, videos run ok at 480p, but once loaded at 720p slows down. Other than that great build quality, nice screen, nice keyboard, nice sturdy body, AC Wi-Fi that runs the full speed of my connection. If you just run Word and Excel, it will work, and if you don't mind waiting for the apps to load then the $130 is great deal. And keep in mind that you need to exit Windows S mode to be able to install apps not from the store, Chrome, Firefox etc.

The Lenovo IdeaPad 1-14 will boot from off to the Windows 10 desktop in less than 20-seconds. If you are getting slower than expected performance, be sure any software you installed is compatible with Windows 10. There is no need to install Microsoft Office software. The software is already part of the operating system, you just need to activate the software with a purchased product key. If you have installed a copy of Microsoft Office, this is conflicting with the existing copy on the system and this will slow your system down. If you have installed a 3rd party anti-virus program, be sure that Windows Defender is turned off and that the trial version of McAfee Anti-Virus software is uninstalled. There can only be one anti-virus program on the system. You may need to restore your system to original factory default settings if any of the programing errors have occurred. You can do that by typing "restore" in the Cortana search window. Just click on the magnifying glass icon at the bottom left of your Windows 10 Desktop. Click on "Reset This PC" Then click on "Get Started" and follow the on screen directions to restore to factory defaults. If the problem persists, we recommend you contact Lenovo Tech Support at: 877-453-6686.

I bought this when I suddenly needed to work from home due to the quarantine and the price worked for me. It does its job for internet browsing, emailing, using Microsoft 365, Facebook, etc., so I can do most of my job using this laptop. However, I am not able to attend Zoom meetings and other webinars because of being in S mode. The Windows Store does not let you download and run Zoom and other aps I need for webinars unless I switch out of S mode. Since I'm told you can never go back to S mode once you switch, I am reluctant to do so because I'm afraid I will regret it. I would like to keep this computer, but am thinking of returning it for another so I can use Zoom and other needed aps. If you don't need aps that the Microsoft Store doesn't offer and just need the basics, it's a good buy for the money.

This laptop can be considered a good value, as you are getting a machine with a 14" screen as well as Windows 10 Home and a 12-month subscription of office 365 for under $200. However the the laptop leaves alot to be desired everywhere else, especially when it comes to performance. With the minimal specs, being a non-upgradable 4GB memory, non-upgradable 64GB flash memory and an entry-level AMD A6 processor, the IdeaPad struggles to do even the most basics tasks in Windows 10; it almost feels like you are using a ChromeBook trying to run Windows 10. Startup itself is slow. As far as I/O's, the dual USB 3.0 ports, an HDMI port and a SD card reader are a plus. If ethernet connection is needed, you will need to use a dongle. Battery life is decent and you will not be bothered with fan noise. Overall, the laptop offers specs and performance on par with the low price, however it may be worthwhile to pay $100 more for a better functioning machine.

Firstly I'll say this isn't the laptop for majority of people. Taking it off S mode in Windows 10, this thing pegged at 100% cpu usage the entire time, which is usually an issue with drivers. I updated it to the latest version of W10, the November edition, installed the Radeon software to update it, the updates took well over two hours, and still had the CPU issues.
HOWEVER, I've personally wiped Windows from it entirely, installed Lubuntu, and this laptop for $129 is fantastic. Speakers aren't good, it'll struggle to even play some 720p youtube videos, but if you know what you're doing, this is a fairly capable machine.
As it stands though, this machine should ONLY be used in S mode, and just for office applications, and some web browsing. It will struggle to stream video unless you're at 480p, and it doesn't have the horsepower to do much, and a full windows installation will be using around 50-75% of your resources just at idle, running windows.
If you're willing to toy around with other operating systems, this is a great value, and the keyboard is surprisingly amazing for a 14".

Decently priced laptop; however, it runs very slowly and I only use it for web surfing, Microsoft Office, and occasional streaming. When I stream, it will occasionally lag which is not due to my internet since I tested it on other devices.
